Xg versus gut ,,,,,, watched the game on rtv and my gut was it was only a matter of time before we scored and went on to win , solid at the back , much more organised of late with a confidence and determination building in the team , the players and management reaction at the final whistle was a joy to watch and very far from the picture of a group of players being told to play in a way they don’t want and not really on board with the manager ,
warne recruitment,, well again it shows real promise for the job in hand , Nelson, nyambe, Wilson ( twinkle toes ) , fornah,
hourihane and smith are getting dogs abuse from some ( unfairly in my view) , they are in my view rosenior players that bring plenty to our team but some want them out for more mobile athletic in they’re view warne type players ,
patience that some have been calling for is the key , let’s see how the team develops , we are progressing and in my view look stronger throughout the squad than last apart from maybe mc g and his best ever ever season

I wouldn’t describe the game, or the league in general, as “boring”. Just short on quality. Last season, I went to a Tamworth game and difference in quality between that league and ours was even more obvious than that between the Championship and League 1. But I enjoyed the game perhaps partly because I was a relative neutral and could just enjoy/cheer/laugh at what I was watching. Same with if I was watching a game down the park on a Sunday morning. It wouldn’t be champagne football but there would probably be goals, goal scoring opportunities, penalty area scrambles, good tackles, missed tackles, the occasional good passage of play etc that would keep me off my mobile phone.

Maybe some of us are, understandably, allowing our enjoyment of the games to be marred by our desire to see Derby win and win handsomely and confusing lack of enjoyment with boredom. 🤷🏻

Back from the match and what's not to like! 3 points, 4 league wins on the spin, a goal in front of the away end, and Waggy starting the  bounce! Going to bed happy!

The problem is mate that us older lads know that promotion from this league does not rely on stats. It relies on team spirit, hard work and a bit of luck (after the last few years that's one thing we hopefully have in the bank). Many of us wax lyrical about Bobby Davison and Phil Gee firing us to glorious promotions yet often the games were bloody hard work with just an occasional flash of brilliance....like NML's superb pass to the young lad tonight.

Some absolute drivel in this thread, from those so desperate for Warne to fail.
    Utterly pathetic.

Collins did everything that could reasonably have been asked of him tonight IMO. Didn't hesitate to shoot when he got sight of goal, got his shots on target, forced a couple of decent saves from the keeper, ran his socks off pulling the defence around. Maybe if he'd got that chance that JJ did, he'd have buried it too. But he didn't get a 1v1 with time to place his spot, and that wasn't his fault.
A pacey striker coming on with 20 minutes to go is what we've missed all season and, while Collins doesn't always perform, I couldn't fault him tonight. Give him credit for softening the defence up.

A decent enough performance. Another 3 points, this time away from home and with a clean sheet to boot, which the coaches will absolutely love. Could it be that patience is now beginning to reap its own rewards?
With games coming thick and fast right through to the New Year, we are finishing the year in as good form as any side in the division and while tonight's was not a flashy performance, a la Barnsley, or Northampton, I thought it was thoroughly professional and comfortable enough, if truth be told.

Reading some of these comments, really don't understand the need to slag certain ones off in a need to find a negative...bizarre, they are all part of the squad and will have a contribution to make over the season.

No wonder why PW often gets defensive in interviews.

Have just checked our last 4 home games , we have won them ,,, 11 for 1 against ?
im not quite ready to slate our midfield and certainly not to the extent that smith and hourihanne get slated by some , jeez they are often so derided that it’s impossible we don’t have better players at the club to take they’re place ,,,, really folks 🤷🏻‍♂️?

Beer in the fridge, I've cleaned the kitchen, mrs is cooking, fire is lit, teams announced soon... I'd rather be at the game, but being at home to watch a winter away game on the telly is always brilliant after a crap day at work. Hopefully Derby don't ruin it.

I was going back over to my mum's on Saturday afternoon to look after her. I timed my journey so that when the applause started I would be parked off the road in a beautiful little hamlet near mum's home called Dunstall. The light over the hilly countryside was so golden that afternoon. It made all the trees, fields and sheep and sky seem gilded with gold. Just when the applause started It seemed as though there was a moment when heaven and earth met briefly. Bless you, B4, this amazing moment summed you up.

I can only give my opinion on the academy but to reply to your points.
1 To many people get hung up on Cat 1 status. At the moment, our red dog friends have a better set up that us at the youth level ( hence the revamp ). The Cat 1 status only really comes into affect in the latter years (facilities aside), you can still only have a certain amount train at each age level and if you dont attract the right standard, doesn't matter how good your academy is. Worth noting that some of the players you mentioned, our cat 1 status didn't stop us losing them, being in the third tier is not as an attractive prospect at the moment. Once again my views, not PWs, I just dont believe that the expenditure with the current format produces the results.
2 As I mentioned, PWs remit is to get us out this league and generate as much revenue as possible. If only it was as simple as giving a few mins here and there, that's just a linear way of looking at it. You can as easily damage a lads career within them few minutes as you can give them confidence.

3 I don't think I have missed the point, it's not in PWs remit to manage the academy or a youth prospects career. So PW hasn't played Thompson, I fail to see the connection between that and the academy, another manager comes in and puts more trust in a different player.
What is your criteria for Cashin being different to Thompson, surely they can both be put in the same bucket ?
