Man- the irony is so thick , what with so many folk saying pretty much our only player of note tonight (and MoTM) was Elder. Oh, how two games changes so much 🤪
But whilst most everyone else was crap i have to say that this game was the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of my view on Max Bird. I love that he’s come up thru the ranks and is sorta one of our own. I think that's why so many people have given him so much latitude in terms of his performances…
But as of tonight I’ve had enough of his disappearing act in games. Yes, he can be good on his day and in spells, but he is too inconsistent and anonymous in too many games, to the point of effectively being a passenger. I look at the midfielders in some of the other top 6/7 sides and I realize that to move on we need to sell him and reinvest in new midfield blood.

No idea what the strategy is. No idea what the tactical approach is, beyond 'put out 11 "good characters", tell them to get it forward quickly, and see what they come up with'.
Eight points off automatic and heading in the wrong direction, despite the manager inheriting a more-than-decent squad, and being given plenty of latitude to sign new players. Odd, piecemeal recruitment with no long-term vision. A squad increasingly tilted towards technically limited, League One journeymen.
Anyone questioning any of this jeered and sneered at - as if you can't really care about something unless you believe, contrary to all evidence, that everything is absolutely fine!
    It isn't. It really isn't.

It’s a totally brainless comment from him in my opinion. Why would you do that unless you accepted that your own midfield was crap !? And if that’s so, then why not look to strengthen that as your priority!?
All the good teams build from a strong midfield - I am seriously wondering about his tactical nous. His one trick/game plan is pass it out wide and cross into the box. It’s frankly pathetic imho.

Oh come on… he’s only 31 …. I just don’t get this continual acceptance that he somehow can’t in any way play a full season. He’s a professional athlete- very well paid at that.
Same age as Nelson ??? Does Nelson only manage a half season ?
Look at how much effort Collo puts in every game… and his age is…??
    I like NML but …. He’s a full-time footballer not a part-time one …we are only half way through the season …

Silly receuitment. One league goal at Port Vale (lucky strike for me) and we wanted him for the whole season.
Genuinely struggle to see what he is. So yep - probably £100-150k wasted on him now.

other than a top wage for the rest of the season, stupid gamble given that he hasn't shown any reason on the pitch to warrant keeping him

It’s true in terms of last season we were going great with a back four and then PW just had to bring Davies in and it went pear-shaped.
Know this discussion will go on and on but Vickers isn’t our best keeper overall in my view and should be on the bench. That’s my view irrespective of what he did or does tonight.
We miss Fozzy and Nyambe a lot…

To be honest if Joe isn’t put back in it just smacks of PW being stubborn and wanting to play the keeper he brought in on principle and nothing more …

But to be honest how many games so far this season have we really played ‘well’ over the whole 90 !? I would say about 4. 🤷🤷
It’s all being thrown away….. it’s the hope that kills…😕

I wouldn't put too much of the blame on Warne at the moment, most of that starting 11 are guaranteed to start regardless of their form and they know it. They get off the team bus in tracksuits and and other ridiculous looking attire wearing headphones listening to bloody rap music, thinking they are big time Charlie's.
Brian Clough wouldn't of stood for it, get a shave a decent hair cut and show some bloody respect to the paying public.
