What rules did he break? And what rules did he break where  he knew what they were? The IDC said Derby couldn't reasonably have known they were breaking the accounting standard , given that the auditors and the IDC istelf all said it was all OK.

In most dispute resolution situations there is extra slack given where there is inequality of status between the disputing parties. SO in financial services if I am involved in a dispute with a bank, I do not get charged or penalised in anyway if I do not win the dispute. In employment tribunals there is no fee charged to the employee and there are usually no costs awards either. Attempts to change that situation were opposed on grounds of it being an  offence to natural justice
In Derby's  disputes with EFL there is clear inequality between the parties to the dispute.. basically it is the 71 other EFL clubs ganging up on us to give us a kicking. So the EFL should be very keen to be seen to be independent and to avoid bully boy tactics.  EFL has consistently failed spectacularly to do either.
The particular proposal, if true , is yet another example of EFL's failures to be independent and to avoid bullying. I cannot think of any precedent , even where parties to a dispute are of equal standing, that would require the professionals involved in the dispute to be held personally liable if the dispute is not won. Quite apart from any failings by EFL to be independent or fair, it is offensive to the professionals involved and implies they are somehow trying it on.

Contrary to what some podcasters may say, there are on the face of it strong grounds for an appeal. That may not mean that Derby will win the appeal, but they are perfectly entitled to make it and it is crass , cynical and manipulative if EFL are seeking to discourage the appeal in this way.

No idea if anyone from the club reads this forum, but after Saturday I have to remind the team of something they maybe don't see so clearly. I'm not a great motivation guy like @B4ev6is but I'll give it a try!
OK, no doubt enough has been said about Saturday. Its gone and that's it. But this club still has its destiny in it's own hands and there's something else. This team has an opportunity that is a rare as hen's teeth - this team could reach the status of legendary.
The chance to become a club legend is something a player may see maybe once in a career - if they are lucky. Plenty of great players never reach that level, they are remembered dimly after they move on - but legends, now they are always in the fans minds. Its a simple fact, become a legend, get footballing immortality.
If this team pulls off the impossible escape from the drop they achieve legend status, and some. Not only do they get the accolade this year, but this team would also irritate the EFL at the highest level, they would be remembered with pain by the teams they relegate for years, they would get so far up the red dogs noses they wont stop moaning about it for decades, for heavens sake if this team survives they give a level 11+ butt-hurt to a certain Middlesbrough owner - surely that level of legend is worth any amount of effort and application.
Its your big chance, it's all down to you, no one else. Theres plenty of games and the points can be yours. We the fans will support long, loud and proud, but you need to do the stuff on the grass - grab every single point you can, even if its a pain and a struggle. If you can't win, keep a draw, if you are heading for a point, push for three. Don't be satisfied with "also ran" and grab your chance at immortality with two hands!
Play for that status because quite simply - you won't get a better chance of getting it. And if you do it, you won't be forgotten - this club has a long memory.
Be remembered as the Rams legends who did not give up despite it all, not forgotten as the relegation squad.

Derby are affected by EFL saying they are "shocked" we are appealing and if Nixon is right they are again effectivley casting doubt on the merits of Derbys appeal, given the timing of the move... which just stokes up an already angry lynch mob against us.

No they are trying to change the rules. They want to make it more difficult to Appeal against an automatic 12 point deduction. Why? It goes to an independent panel … what are EFL afraid of… the independent panel not agreeing with them?

As to why the Efl are picking on Derby , the simple answer is they aren’t.

they made a similar mess of Bury .. the best that can be said about that is that it was a swift end for Bury rather than a death by a thousand cuts .

whatever your views on Mel Morris , ( which I don’t share by the way) the first objection is why should the club suffer for the wrongdoing of the owner? Precisely the issue that As you say true football fans would understand regardless of who they support… which is why Derby fans sympathised with you over oyston.

but despite my first statement I think Derby fans feel aggrieved that the club are wrongly accused of things that were perfectly fine ( eg stadium sale) , things like amortisation are minor things at worst that Efl wanted points deduction .. and relegation .., for yet the independent panel thought only a fine was appropriate .

so at every turn Efl seem to want to beat us up and max out on punishments.

all for what? A professional disagreement between accountants over amortisation policy, and a disagreement between another set of accountants over what has caused our latest financial problems? Is it COVID or our historic overspending?

why should the club , and the fans be punished for any of this?

This isn’t the first time that EFL expresses  its “disappointment”. .. why should a football body be disappointed in the outcome of an independent process .. why doesn’t the EFL itself show itself to be independent?

That is why it is in its dying days as a regulator . After the BUry debacle , Parliament heavily criticised EFL for its practices. It just seems the EFL represents the interests of rival clubs who all join in and give other clubs a kicking. Especially unattractive when you are kicking a club when it is down. It’s not independent at all, and is just self destructive.
I cannot recall anything wrong in Derby ‘s own media statements .. except them saying the amortisation thing was no big deal well plainly it is if it means we fail FFP and get penalty points deductions.
