Yeah, you're probably right. I just thought it was funny that after usually blaming the evil media for Covid mistakes, it was now the Oppositions fault. Own your mistakes lads.

Well, we started with a win but it was, barring a 20min spell in the first half a fairly flat performance imo.
At 0-0 Sterling was 5 mins from being taken off and replaced with Grealish.  Kane would have come off for Calvert-Lewin on the 70th minute and Tripper for Rashford on the 80th minute if it had remained at 0-0 and I'd have been sat in front of my computer on Football Manager ?
Kane looked unfit, Sterling flattered to deceive and should thank Philips for putting his chance on a plate.  Talking of whom, MOM easily in his advanced position.
Good start, gonna have to improve but can't see us not progressing easily from here ?

Walker has already made mistakes, so it's not waiting to happen. Pickford almost had a couple of assists but messed up a few kicks too.
Unsurprised to see you only picked out the negatives. Phillips, Foden, Mount, Sterling and Mings playing well. Rest doing ok.
First match, hot day, world cup runners up, pretty new lineup, lots of players haven't played friendlies due to Champions League. Could have easily had a goal or 2.

Crowd have been a bit crap compared to the Danes and Italians who both had home games.

Lamps will suggest taking Phillips and Rice off for Rashford and DCL. Then say how he's not happy we conceded 4 in 2nd half.

    Decent half.
First 5 mins was worrying, 2nd to everything and brushed off every 50-50, then Foden hit the post and we quickened up the pace and started to dominate.  Tired a bit as the half went on but haven't really been tested at the back.  Could have, maybe should have been leading at half time but never-the-less a good half on balance.
If we can grab the first goal in the second half, I can see us picking them off for 2 or 3 after.  The longer it goes on all square though I can see Croatia's experience nicking a 1-0 for them.  Hope I'm wrong!

I really like Phillips. Great tackler, interceptor and passer.
Bit weird Sancho isn't even on bench.

As @RoyMac5 said above, you end up kinda transfixed to it and its only later you think that maybe I shouldn't have watched that.

They are quick to cut away when a 'fan' runs onto the pitch - to the point where I can't remember the last time I saw one.  Keep returning to close ups of Eriksen when he was clearly in trouble was irresponsible.  The first minute or so was understandable, he could have just fainted etc but continuing to try to get angles of CPR through players legs and close-ups of his wife crying was taking things to far and common sense should have prevailed earlier.
I don't particularly want to dwell on it further other than to say that it gave me an appreciation for the medical staff and the players who went above and beyond in upsetting circumstances.

Stop being a wet blanket man. She was clearly shaken by the ordeal and was visibly upset. I was upset watching it. I rang my dad just to talk to him. Blokes my age and fit as a fiddle and it looks like his heart stopped. Why pick on people for being honest?

It really is shameful that we have to rely on Tory rebels to provide any sort of resistance to Government policy.
We've literally been a one party state throughout the pandemic.
The only thing I can remember Starmer doing over the last 15 months is 'taking the knee' in his office and his wallpaper jibe at Boris.

Of course yes. I guess its personal experience.
I do wonder if lockdown gave some an excuse to 'down tools' as it were, i am positive thats one of the reasons our EFL situation has taken so long.
I see that more as a culture thing within a business or organisation than individuals.
Of course you are going to get some that abuse the position too, but i am confident those within my immediate team at work have not, and i dont think in general people have where i work.
My main concern with home working is the more inexperienced staff who i feel do need more face to face guidance, and i fully expect that will be reflected in the amount of time they have to spend in the office environment, of course that will mean their managers also doing similar.
There are just some things that are harder remote than in the office, for example as part of my job i sometimes have to 'shadow' staff, that means observing them, watching how they work and what they do, not to catch them out or anything but to identify process improvements, and thats hard remotely, i have been using teams for it but you dont see everything else that goes on like the note making, and manual excercises which arent evident on a screen sharing session. So ill be using my time back in the office to do that too.

It's not even 5 points though. 4 points would almost definitely be enough. They will all try and bore a point against the better teams and hope to beat the other worst team.
Actually, 3 points and an ok goal difference could be enough too, especially 3 draws. Didn't N. Ireland do that last time?
There is little incentive to go for it against the best teams. Good to see Turkey concede 3 whilst trying to do that.

The media like to sensationalise though. I mean years ago 'Breaking News' was breaking news, the challenger, or diana or something like that. Now we have dozens of 'Breaking News' items a day, sorry but 'cat stuck up a tree' doesnt cut it for me with breaking news.

I hate it when we name our "hurricanes". Makes sense in Americas where their hurricanes are actually "sensational" and cause huge damage and loss of life over a number of days.
Our media sensationalise Hurricane Maureen which batters the South West on a Tuesday night with some bad wind and waves. No sensational names for our real weather problems: days of continual drizzle on the hills that lead to bad flooding.
Similar media rubbish with temperatures, when we see the mercury plummeting to minus 10. On a Scottish mountain. Where no one lives.
There is a weather station at Benson in Oxfordshire which has some weird microclimate that often gives really low temperatures. Better sensational news than giving the warmer temperature in Oxford where people actually live in large numbers.
