It was all geared up for Mel when he took over. We’d lost the playoff final in 13/14 playing some of the best football the championship had seen in the decade. We were outstanding for the majority of 14/15, promotion looked like ours for the taking, but we were desperately unlucky with injuries and because we didn’t have the depth of squad we suffered and missed the playoffs - despite getting 78 points which would have seen us comfortably in the playoffs in every season since. Mel’s investment at this point if done correctly would have got us over the line.

Mel made his biggest mistakes early on, the kamikaze recruitment of 15/16 cost us millions and we’ve never really recovered. This combined with the Clement appointment. We didn’t need wholesale change yet we wasted money on Shackell Butterfield Johnson Blackman Camara, followed up by the Anya signing. No thought was given to the resale values of these players. We didn’t learn lessons for the Lampard spending spree either, some of it signings that didn’t come off eg Marriott but did he ever fit our system? Waghorn Malone Jozefzoon all just rank bad business. All this combined we’ve lost between £30-£40m on transfers which finds its way into P&S calculations. Additionally the wages during this period went out of control.

That’s why we’re where we are. We’ve missed an opportunity under Mel’s stewardship and now we’re scrapping to stay in the league, but if he hands over the club to a responsible owner who can sensibly invest alongside the academy talent which has never been so good in my lifetime, we can rise again and Mel might be able to say I did an OK job. That’s about the best he can hope for now.

Anyone having a go at David about attending this meeting is a disgrace.
However, anyone slqggjng him off about his dress sense, cooking, tattoos, quiz ability, electric scooter skils and choosing to love in Grimsby is spot on.

    "Well the email said this"

This is the problem here. Total chaos. The club have let a load of fans, untrained in comms and PR, to just interpret and share what they heard using any old vernacular. The mixed messages (even via Rams Trust alone!) are causing complete chaos. Add that to the fact not everyone has access to every media outlet - fans aren't getting the full message, let alone the right message! The club would have done much better to release the minutes or a single agreed statement of what was discussed.
I don't envy David at the moment! What he shares will add another interpretation into the mix. Big, and unnecessary responsibility.

After listening to the snippet on radio Derby, I found myself getting annoyed at just how pathetic Mel Morris is.
The comment about wanting out for two years, and having to still pay the bills… YOU BOUGHT THE ducking CLUB!
I used this analogy a while ago. Mel Morris Has effectively bought a dog, without thinking about the consequences, now he’s trying his best to get rid and he’s not arsed who too. He may throw it the daily bit of food it needs to survive, but he has no other interest in it and the poor ducker can forget about treats or a new toy every once in a while. People are coming to look at the dog, in order to buy, but it stinks of piss and looks jaded from the neglect. You attract more flies with honey than you do vinegar.
As someone who had a lot of respect for him, I just fine him intolerable at the moment. Everything he’s doing is just working against the best interests of the club - almost actively seeking to work against the best interests of the club.

Would appear a tweet I made blew up in a way I never expected tonight as some of you saw.
Needless to say many have been blocked, no time for it.
Was never intended to be attention seeking, looking for followers or some how trying to tease fans.
There was a conversation taking place regarding the release of the minutes, thought I was being helpful by letting them know it would write ups only as no minutes were being taken. That’s it.
I was on a train with patchy 3G signal and expected to respond to a poo ton of people.
I have started the write up on my phone, well aware even more so tonight of fan frustration, just stepped off the train now, home in 20 and honestly, I’m off to bed and if that pisses more people off, so be it.

Maybe they have. I have told you all I have challenged this, I requested the meeting took place without and I know Punjabi Rams have gone public on Twitter to say they have.
Not all groups have an online presence, but we may find out all have challenged it privately and will do further tonight, how I feel it should have been done before causing widespread anger through the fanbase.

What is the point of a meeting such as this if an NDA is in place.
Completely pointless if you ask me.
We as fans are the beating heart of Derby County as a whole, not as a select few.

If indeed this is a meeting restricted by any NDAs and behind smoke and mirrors to the majority of its “Supporters” then I fear ladies and gents we are in a hole much more cavernous than we all first feared.
I fear for our club, yet hope my instincts are incorrect… but as we all know “it’s the hope that kills ya” ?

im done with this rubbish , if people are happy to walk round in masks I’m happy to keep as far away from them as I can rather than go up and tell them to stay home just like they expect the lackies to be out and about tending their needs and wants during lockdowns .

I don’t see how the EFL can let us start the season without letting us registering anymore players.
The profit and sustainability rules are there to protect clubs, but right now the EFL is actively working to make us not have a competitive team.
That’s not right. We have an embargo for not paying HMRC, to me this has nothing to do with the EFL, HMRC will take us to court when we’ve failed to meet enough deadlines.
I can understand an embargo for failing to pay transfer instalments as this is a transaction between it’s member clubs, makes total sense but not HMRC.
Other clubs will be looking on and be concerned, I’m sure of it, they will be thinking this could be us next having to deal with the EFL making the rules up as they go along.
Say what you like about our wrongdoings, but that does not mean that the EFL doesn’t need a overhaul from top to bottom.

We laughed for years when Fawaz was at Forest.

We laugh when Leeds get knocked out of the cup.
We laugh we Wycombe try to push for a points deduction to be applied immediately as they wasn’t good enough to stay up.
I’m laughing at Man City spending £100m on Jack Grealish.
I mean if you don’t like being part of a club that’s laughed at, football isn’t for you.
Honestly couldn’t care less if Boro, Leeds, Bristol City and Forest fans are all laughing at us. Not one bit.

I like Jack Stretton. He’s a hard working striker, with good control, can run with the ball, and has an eye for goal. In his first-year as a professional last season, after graduating from the Academy, he was prolific at the start of the U23 season. Like all players at that age, he has areas he needs to work on, but after stepping up from the U18s, in a short space of time he overtook Cameron Cresswell, Bobby Duncan and Jahmal Hector-Ingram which is credit to him.
He had a good, short loan spell at Stockport County where he scored three goals in five appearances.
Of course, none of that guarantees anything, I remember Callum Ball being prolific for Derby County reserves but being unable to establish himself in the first-team under Nigel Clough.
It’s a shame Stretton hit the woodwork in one of his early substitute appearances for the first-team. Had he scored instead, the goal would have done wonders for his confidence.
Footbal365 have listed Stretton in their 10 young Championship players to watch out for this season:
A calf injury, following his return from Stockport County, prevented him playing in the run-in last season and a muscle strain has kept him out of the pre-season friendlies but, I believe, he returned to training this week.
Stretton looks a natural goal scorer at U23 level but it’s a big step-up to Championship level against streetwise defenders and he has work to do to prove he can score goals on a regular basis at this level.

    No, sorry, that doesn’t wash.
Rams squad membership was £35. Yes the ticket was part of that which is great but that is how you build a fan base. All the other stuff that was supposed to be included, such as birthday / Christmas cards, were never received either but there you go.
You can’t sell something and then change your mind a year later without telling anyone. If they had said, ‘from the year 22/23 season we are stopping these season tickets’ then absolutely fair enough - their prerogative - taking my £550 and keeping it, based on me believing that I was carrying forward mine and my son’s tickets, then changing their mind without telling us, including an email received from them last week, when I asked them to clarify, stinks, whatever the price. Manners, transparency, honesty and common courtesy cost nothing.

I don’t know where you all are in this 171 page round 2 battle of the Covid stats.
Bored of it all now, bored of people judging others for wearing a mask or not, bored of people judging others for having the vaccine or not.
I know someone double jabbed that caught Covid and had nothing but a metal taste in her mouth.
Her mum, also double jabbed came close to being admitted to hospital.
Covid messed me up, truth is, I’m still running at 70% now 3 weeks later having tested positive.
I won’t disclose my vaccination status, reason being 1) My medical records should not be up for public discussion and 2) Vaccinated or not, you have 2 sides looking to attack or praise your decision.
    Your decision.
I’ve seen the your selfish if you choose not to have the vaccine argument, but is it not also selfish to force people into taking a vaccine that they may not feel comfortable taking which basically the vaccine passports are doing.
Whilst I won’t disclose my thoughts on vaccination, I will say the idea of vaccine passports do not sit right with me at all.
I will personally choose to avoid any situation where I need to get my phone out to show vaccination status.
Feel strongly that this is the wrong thing to do, regardless of which government is making the decision.
In many ways, including Covid, you do you, I’ll do me. I won’t judge you, so please don’t judge me.
Saying that, I do think it’s a shame that civil discussions can no longer be had, be it in a workplace, between friends, family or online.
The division that Covid has created is the worst thing to come from this virus. I’d rank it even higher than Brexit which is probably a great point to end this ranty whiny post.
