Considering Rotherham seem to be our main rivals this season, how many of there players would you actually put in our team? 1 or 2 if that? There squads so bad they were even happy to take Jozefzoon of us.
Does this not suggest that we should at least be above Rotherham's level? does this not suggest that either the players aren't playing to there ability? or (more likely in my opinion) the coaches aren't getting the best out of them?

If your referring to Byrne, then yes he did get relegated from this division last season, but so did Robinson their other full back who is now in the premier league. Also Byrne was part of that team that only lost 2 of their final 18 games so has proven he is good enough for this division.
And so players like Lawrence & Waghorn who have proven previously to be top 6 championship players, suddenly just become league one standard do they?
Jozwiak as well, a proven international player, suddenly just becomes league 1 standard when he joins us ??
I'm not saying the squad is good enough for promotion, but it is certainly better than where we are.

well its one manager and one complete rookie.
The squad is good enough to not be in a relegation fight.

I think this season has been long in the making though I did hope we'd challenge but the EFL cup tie against Barrow was an early indicator.
This week could possibly have been the most significant for us  in terms of how the relegation battle has turned against us - though if we go down, it has to do with a multitude of things, not one week. But it's the week where things are finally no longer in our hands unless we start winning ourselves: Coventry winning away, Rotherham winning their other midweek game &  Huddersfield possibly doing the same whilst we lost again.
It's been a body blow. I'm sure the other sides are aware of our form and know getting a good result of some sort will heap even more pressure on an out of form side.

McClaren would have this team playing with purpose and intent. Rooney appears to be Cocu with a scouse accent. They both speak surprisingly well, but serve up dire football. McClaren on the other hand, appears a buffoon when speaking but inspires feelgood football, that is until morons start moaning that a 3-0 half time lead against Brighton is not good enough! ??‍♂️

I'm not sure Mac would be doing any better with the squad to be honest. We may be playing better football, but the squad is so small, especially with the injuries that the team wouldn't be much different.
    We're forced into playing 4231:
    GK
    Byrne   Wisdom   Mengi   LB
    CM   CM
    RW   AM   LW
    Kazim
Choice in goal is a toss of a coin - Roos vs Marshall
Likewise at LB - Buchanan vs Forsyth
CM is any two from Bird, Knight and Shinnie
The three behind Kazim is out of Lawrence, Jozwiak, Sibley and Roberts
Even Kazim and Lawrence don't appear to be 100% fit at the moment. For Mac-ball to work he needs the players to be fully fit, with top options off the bench. We just don't have that right now.

So half the team would be better then.
They are currently not scoring or creating, so the 'cost' i don't understand.

A rescue job with half the games left wouldn't be Mac's thing, we'd probably be slightly better off than now, but only just.
Billy on the other hand, would have had us pushing hard for the play offs.

    More likely....
Everyone would be up in arms on here because he had not come out and been around to everyones house and told each and every fan in person that he was not interested in the Newcastle job if Bruce is sacked.

Change the question to "What would have McClaren done with this team?"
Does anyone actually think we'd be worse off if we had just hired Mac as manager instead of Rooney? I don't.
He probably would have been cheaper and only signed until the end of season unlike Wayne's 2 year deal, we had an instant boost the last 2 times he first joined which I think would have been enough to avoid relegation.
The only reason we probably went for Rooney was either because Mel didn't want to pay Rooney's playing contract any longer, or Mel had too much pride to hire Mac for a third time.
What is Mac even doing at the moment? The current terrible playing style suggests he's having little involvement with tactics.

McClaren had his time....twice over, its time to move on.
Wazza is the manager, he is the best man for the job and he is doing and will continue to do great.
