Like some kind of naive young man going back into the dating pool after being dumped, I'm really excited for tomorrow and ready to get hurt all over again. Hopefully, this week we'll turn up on the pitch and see it replicated in the stands. COYR!!!

I went about 3 or 4 years ago and there was a pub on London Road open to away fans who did a fantastic hog roast. Can’t remember it’s name. The pub, that is, not the hog!

We beat Morecambe by (a) playing football and (b) by the Morecambe players being on the bus home after our first goal. Losing to Wycombe wasn’t the players, it was the tactics. Instead of playing football, which we gave been good at, we tried to be Wycombe, and we aren’t nasty, conniving or cheating enough. And sadly we have continued with the “run a lot snd kick it hard” philosophy.
For goodness sake get the ball on rhe floor and play football with it.

Yes Lampard did have options. He could  and should have started with Marriott and Waghorn. They probably couldn’t last the 90 minutes, but were scoring freely. And Villa’s reaction when they finally did get on the pitch confirms that they should have started.
We should have hit them hard, got in front then changed the strikers over, which is much better than saving your better strikers for when you are chasing the game. Oh, and neither should Frank have left it soooooo late to bring them on, ie too late.

He didn't get a chance to do anything but run around aimlessly in the 1st half, no football was being played. When we needed him to play 2nd half with Didzy and Knight or Dobbin then we only had Collins, who continued to run around aimlessly!

He could’ve chased harder but there were a couple of times he did, right at the off he was at them and closed the ball down; unfortunately I think the lack of energy and service from others, led his enthusiasm to wane.
Just my opinion of course, but Knight offered no more than Sibley today, for all his energy he wasted several balls forward. As for Collins I know who’s more likely to score. Sibley behind McGoldrick would be my choice next week too.

All those that say he’s had his chance, Sibley barely gets a run in his favoured position, so some chance, he very often seems to be the fall guy; yet he’d give anything to be successful here, even if asked to play out of position.
One day a manager might persevere with him, really hope Warne does.

Thread should be re-labelled Sibley The Scapegoat / Sibley The Saviour on a rotational basis
Once again hauled off when there were worse players / performances on the pitch and players coming on who offered less of a threat in a game where we needed something only he can produce to get us back in the game.

Whilst I agree we are up against things in terms of our unbalanced squad, I think we could be a bit smarter and let the ball do more of the work, rather than grinding ourselves into the ground chasing long balls and lost causes.

We can stick our fingers in our ears and pretend that Warne 's management approach, team selection, choice of subsitutions & squad management throughout the season has got absolutely no bearing on how poor some recent performances have been.
We can attempt to create division by trying to making out that anyone who questions any of the above is a 'Warne basher' who doesn't understand the limitations of the squad and is putting the blame for any of our "failings" exclusively at his door.
Or we can be a bit more grown up about it and have a sensible discussion about where he's going right and where he's going wrong, without resorting to back the 'woe is us, we're just lucky to have a club' mentality where any sort of critical thinking is looked down upon.
    Nah, it'll never catch on.

Actually I only boo the ref, and the best response is to either not be thereby the time m the players come across to the fans, or turn l our backs to them. We did the latter at Villa Park during the Lampard days and it felt like we had made quite a statement. Whether it actually did or not is anyone’s guess!

I have not commented on  this forum in years as I have not really had the need but recently I have started to have serious concerns about certain aspects of Warne’s management that he needs to work on , let alone the players.
Firstly it has been quite obvious that Curtis’ legs have gone. Much as I love the guy it was sad to see him look totally lost,  I know that PW said they had a bad day at the training office but it must be obvious that CD is struggling. it must be so easy to see in training, so why play him?
Tactically it could have been altered within the first 15 by bringing Roberts on. Fossie also looks slow on the left and it then exposed Cashin, who then started to wobble as he was not sure who was around him. A good manager doesn’t soldier on, he affects changes. Too much dwelling and no incisiveness. If I and those all around me can see the issue, then why can’t the paid professionals?
Because he didn’t make immediate changes the result was destabilising team morale by changing two players two minutes before half time, that were symptoms of the issue but not the cause.
My major concern is that we underestimate the opposition, as most of the lesser teams are physically aggressive, crunch up the mid-field and do a press on the back four, although the press was not massively evident yesterday. We are predictable and easy to play, opponents stop our game and then we fall into midfield head tennis and channel balls invariably going nowhere. We need to learn how to counter this if we are to progress but i do not see much evidence of this on the field. PW must work on this, along with the development of further strategic planning in the event that a team does A, then changes to plan B and so on; which has been evident from the opposition in many recent games.

One thing that is clearly evident from this league, is that there is a good set of opposition coaches that use quite a lot of guile and gamesmanship to get results. Just running faster is not the answer, we need to be developing other dimensions to our play and taking note of what to expect.

I understand where you are coming from, but if someone on my family performed that badly, especially for the unpteenth time then they deserve to be informed. The alternative is to applaud them no matter what, which simply tells them that they can get away with playing however they like.
But here’s a curved ball: what if it isn’t the players at fault? What if it is Warne’s tactics? Or, should I say, “tactic”?
This poor run of form has coincided with an increasing shift to lumping long balls into the channels with the aim of someone getting on the end of the alleged subsequent cross - the very sort of football we feared when the new manager was announced. And it does seem to be the only thing in his toolbox.
I know we got excited at some of the football we have been playing, but it seems as though that is because it has taken Warne this long to hammer it out of us.

I have been  told the ref wasn’t up to much, but it was our turn to be really bad and gift the points to the opposition!
