Its amazing how after  match we have the choice to talk about all the good stuff, or moan about the poor play, or who has let us down. Today we didn't have that choice. There is absolutely nothing to complain about from a derby point of view. And yes, like many I was worried by the team selection, enforced as it was, but it turned out to be "nay worries", as they say in Scotland.
Roberts is a good option to have at right back, and Curtis was safe enough, in part because of the lack of pace up front from Bolton. I know they have lost a couple of important players up front, but I don't think pace is their game. Their tactics were to lump it to the big man, or into the channels, and it didn't work. An important factor in this was our pressing, which I don't think I have seen as effectively employed before, especially as we kept it up all match. Thank you Jason knight for making it possible, and the new fitness regime!
A couple of times I had to wonder how Bolton managed to be in 5th place because they didn't really perform. The nearest to an attempt on goal in the first half was a cross that bobbled through to Wildsmith, and their only shots on target were at 56  minutes, 73 minutes and the goal, which should have been a goal kick. But they didn't perform because we didn't let them! And we have done that many times this season, particularly since Mr Warne took up residence.
NML had his defender on toast all match long, Max Bird has stepped up a gear, and our longing for him to toughen up was answered in only the 2nd minute when he bullied a Bolton player off the ball near the corner flag. And his pass to set up the second goal was an absolute peach. I've already mentioned Knighty, and it is good to see Hourihane, who was my least favourite  putting himself about with a bit of passion - I don't know what happened, but he has been a different player since he came back from injury. I don't think there is player who can be singled out for playing badly - yet again. And it is getting to what it was like for Mac 1, and indeed the days of Brian Clough and then Dave Mackay, when we didn't wonder if we could win or draw, but how may we were gong to win by!
Today was a great football match, and I went absolutely bonkers berserk for both the goals - something I haven't done for years, because they were two tremendous goals. I was supposed to walk back to the car after the match, but got there without knowing how - almost as though I had floated all the way back! What a feeling!

A very good performance again today we are no longer a 45 minute team, even with inevitable periods being under pressure there is no drop in effort or application and some of the passing and movement in attack was excellent.
The atmosphere was also great, the away fans were the loudest I’ve heard for a long time but the whole ground responded. It’s a tough ask but we can make top 2 if we keep this going. UTR

I’ve enjoyed the honesty and openness in your posts. TBH if you had played us at the start of the season it might  have been a different result. Yes we were the best team today but only because concentration didn’t lapse and our fitness levels have increased a very large notch. You tried to play football and we could all to easily have been caught if we hadn’t been “on it” for 90 minutes. It was a cracking game of football between two good teams.

Very well done today guys thoroughly deserved the win and really it was men against boys. Your physicality, nouse and experience completely undid us. To be fair we’ve been like this all season, pretty football but no cutting edge and we need a couple of old heads to lead the kids. Unfortunately Evatt is so far down his moneyball route trying to find young players to sell on he completely ignores the fact that you need some grey hairs in the team who’ve been there and done it, unlike your man who knows exactly how to do it and is doing a cracking job. There may have been a few questioning his appointment but I think he’s more than answering them now. I think you’ve every chance of making the top two now if you keep up performances like todays so best of luck for the rest of the season. ??

Glad for Barks. He had some lovely first touches and was a threat all game but he and all the others can only do that because of Jason Knight. He is the one that makes those draws wins. That man is the most powerful terrier midfielder I have seen for many a day. He’s not Bryan Robson yet … but he’s heading in that direction. I was blown away by the effort and tenacity. you know when teams press hard and fight at the start of a game that eventually the “super boost” gets drained. Knight just switches fuel tanks and keeps going. For me that was a staggering performance.

I do wonder if PW had been our manager last season we might have stayed in the Championship. PW does have the ability to wring out the very last drop of performance from his players, he has made us into such a resilient side ???

    Great 3 points against a play-off contender.
Late consolation for Bolton flattered them considerably as I felt at no stage of the game did they look like a threat to us.
Davies and Roberts came in and played well considering the few minutes they have played.
100% deserved win, we pretty much dominated the entire game. Barks and NML the standout performers for me.

Dobbin on for NML..he put in some shift the highlight for me that three quarters of the pitch tracking back to win the ball after his earlier mistake.

If you have family or friends in the Radio Derby area use What’s App/ Skype and get them to put their phone near the radio and just listen on yours ?

This all goes way back before the amortisation issue, and I have mentioned it in another thread. Mel upset the EFL when he challenged their pathetic negotiations of the last tv deal, including suggesting a breakaway league. That threat seemed to come to nothing, but in fact it did come to something, because it made the EFL set the crosshairs on us, and then wait to pull the trigger when the chance came up. Hence Mr McGuire sating "How about this for a target, eh?" That set the ball rolling, and then another of Mel's landmine plantings started ticking - when he stole Martin Waghorn from under Middlesbrough's noses, so now the curly one was also .............................. waiting.  And so it all happened. So no, if the amortisation issue hadn't arisen, the EFL would have just waited for something else, and that may still have been Steve Gibson's "doings"

Actually the amortisation method wasn’t illegal in the EFL rules because it wasn’t in their rule book until early last year, as previously mentioned.

It wasn’t until Mr McGoo stuck his nose in that the trouble started. And the method is common practice in the real world of business and commerce.

Well I’ve bought two tickets ….. I think! I selected the tickets on the phone app (keep the mention of the app in your mind for a moment), then it asked for me to assign them, and then threw me off the ticket page.

Start again!!! I assigned them, especially as mine is a Senior ticket, then clicked “Pay”, and went for the autofill option, but it didn’t, so I tried to go back to the payment page. I got the message that it was in the process of being paid, and that I could either cancel or go back to the payment page. I chose the latter, but was thrown of the site. Going back in again I go to the payment page and it us still in the process of being paid. My basket has no details of the transaction, so whether I got the tickets or not I have no idea. But O have been warned that payment may go ahead whether I got the tickets or not!
I then got a “download the DCFC app (remember that?) for a better experience!
Good grief. Is Mel in charge of online ticket sales now?

From the outside it doesn't seem plausible that during all the time Pearce worked under Mr Morris that he wasn't complicit in the financial mess. However, Mr Clowes appears to be a decent person running the club on an ethical basis, so it's only right to trust his judgement.

Fair post. Looking forward to tomorrow hoping for a good contest with some goals and a good atmosphere. I view Bolton as a very similar club to Derby, proud history strong fan base, fallen on hard times but deserving of better. Of course tomorrow only a Derby victory will suffice but from then on I hope that both clubs get promoted. I am also happy seeing ex Ram Evatt doing well. If I remember correctly a Bolton fan came to support us during last seasons game against Birmingham posted an excellent video of the day?. A proper football club.
