So someone goes to the effort of explaining why we didn't cheat, based on facts out there in black and white and your best response is just...nah - we cheated...

I usually have GoC on block, but i knew he'd come and try and justify our misdemeanours with a boatload of irrelevant statistics, so i had a little look to see what he said. Nothing he said changed the fact that we breached FFP. You can try and twist the sale of the stadium however you like and moan about how much the efl hates us, but we only had to sell it because we spent too much - ie - we cheated. Selling the stadium is just another method of cheating same as selling players to yourself. We knew the ffp limits and still failed to stick to them. Justify it to yourself however you want, but dont try and pretend we're whiter than white.

Only based on retroactive rule changes which resulted in modifications to our P&S figures for each season leading up to 2019. Whilst we would have failed P&S eventually, we wouldn't have failed any season up to and including 18/19 under the rules actually in place.

Clubs were also exempt from punishment for the period ending in 19/20 due to Covid (which we would have failed)

We would have eventually failed by about £9m for the 20/21 period due to the 4 year Covid rules. Remarkably, that would have been the only P&S punishment we would have faced.

In line with the points deduction we actually had, we would have only received 4 or 5 points instead. P&S losses would then have been at manageable levels, with a takeover more likely to occur and administration much less likely to occur too.

Nah - we cheated and got caught out. We don't have a long list of wealthy Derby millionaires willing to buy us regardless of how much debt we were saddled with. One way or the other Mel was going to take us down the toilet.

It’s a bit like Tour de France though isn’t it. Everyone cheats. You’ve got to cheat just to keep on a level playing field these days. As you say, some clubs just do it better.

Or any athletics competition really. Just got to find one of the cheating methods that is totally fine with the EFL such as transferring failed players to another club we own or using a super agent to get everyone at knock down prices and then we can cheat without fear of repercussions

And look at villa now. They cheated to get up, if they hadn’t have beaten us the parachute payments would’ve ran out and they would’ve been financially f*****, survived by the absolute skin of their teeth, where relegation would again have absolutely f***** them. And now they’re going from strength to strength.

f****** forest are going to end up doing that aren’t they?

We cheated as well. They just cheated better than us. We breached ffp for the period that covered the final and now we're where they would have been if they'd lost to us

The Bundesliga is probably in its worst state since the mid 00s. Quality is so bad.

Bundesliga is going down the toilet. Bayern winning the league every year is not good for competition. Good to see serie a reviving itself at least

Problem I have is not the 3 million.  It's the 4 seasons of loans, which depending on if he does well may generate in excess of that fee.  The final year will have a permanent fee attached if they don't think he'll be good enough.  They could well double their money without him playing for them.  If he doesn't do enough they break even.

Until premier league sides are told to give 50% of any loan fees for first 3 years of a contract for players under 24, particularly academy kids, to the selling club, then clubs keep getting shafted.

I agree, but the financial dominance of the premier league means we'll keep getting shafted as long as we're in the lower leagues. I assume £3mill is a lot more than we'll get if we let his contract expire, so i'd take it now. Its a damn site better than the magic beans we usually get when a prem team comes sniffing

Wait till the end of the season 3 games in is no time to judge you don't win or lose the league in August and bird is playing better this year so Warne ruining him is incorrect

Nope and nope. Bird had a good half in the last match and thats about it.

The football we've played so far has been turgid, aimless tripe that doesnt have the slightest bit of organisation involved. Unless warne drastically changes things it will be more of the same going forward, which will be awful for the likes of bird and cashin

  8. 1 hour ago, Thameram said:

We are a top side in league one and the championship is pretty average this year but his bank balance would be better at Brighton and that's all that matters personally I would sell them both not strong enough for league 1

When did we become a top side in league 1? We have a lot of fans for a league 1 side, but we've shown nothing so far to show we're a "top side" in this division. Warneball is going ruin Cashin and Bird. Let them go so the damage isnt permanent

  9. 51 minutes ago, Sparkle said:

Brighton brought Clarke from league one and then rented him out on loan for three years and then sold him - the same would happen with Cashin

And whats your point? They'll do the same with Cashin, but it's still better than playing for a turgid team in league 1.

  10. 54 minutes ago, Thameram said:

How many players have jumped ship from us and gone on to bigger things, playing week in week out in competitive competition is the best schooling they can have

How many have played loads of games for us and gone onto bigger things?

If he goes to brighton they'll be sending him out to play in the championship or a top side in league one. Playing in our current team is no good for him - brighton will be better for his development

  11. 8 minutes ago, Thameram said:

Jude Bellingham signed a new contract with a high release clause to give  his boyhood club a thank you for giving him his dream if Cashin and bird love our club so much let them do the same

Its not birds boyhood club though and cashin is from mansfield, so who knows who he supports. Its their career at the end of the day and I see no reason why they should screw themselves over.

Brighton would be a good move for cashin even if he wont play much for them. No point staying here and seeing his career deadend in league 1. Good luck to him if he can get the move

Its really not a case of someone just tunelessly smashing a drum all game though is it... Its joining in with said song at the time and again I question if you are not joining in with the song what's the point of being there.

It has been mentioned about making a special block available in Block D for example but this would mean turning fans out of there seats who want to be there - hardly a win win. There are no available seats, this is the issue.

It's not about the other end of the ground hearing it.

Yes and that's your opinion. People shouldn't be forced to do something just because you personally think that's how things should be done.

If there are no available seats then don't use the drum. Your solution of moving people out of the south stand if they don't like the drum also won't work in that case will it then if there are no available seats.

I'm not sure you understood what I said. If you can hear the drum from the other side of the ground, which you can, its going to damage the hearing of anybody sat next to it. That is the point. Nobody is going to want to have to experience that game after game unless they are smashed off their head and don't know any better

  13. 33 minutes ago, therams69 said:

So you have the option of moving to 3 other stands. Fair compromise?

    It's hardly people going deaf.

I would question why anyone would be in the South Stand that would be too focused on someone banging a drum, they should be joining in singing to not even be bothered by that.

Nope. If you don't like someone banging a drum in your ear you shouldn't be forced to move out of a seat you may have had for years just because someone wants to tunelessly smash a drum all game. Find him somewhere he can sit that doesn't present a detriment to other fans enjoyment of the game and you can bang the drum as much as you like. Either that or buy all the seats around the drummer - problem solved.

As for your third paragraph don't be silly. Anyone sat next to that who doesn't already have significantly damaged hearing is going to be bothered by it. If you can clearly hear the drum from the other side of the stadium - which I assure you we can - then there is no chance its not damaging peoples hearing if they are sat right next to it. If you and your mates don't mind a bit of deafness by all means sit next to the drummer boy, but don't be surprised if other people don't share your lackadaisical views.

Sorry but there's no chance of him being sacked, there's no budget for it for starters. Why he got such a long contract is an interesting debate given the predicament the club found itself in and possibly continues to. Probably Clowes first big blunder but then he wouldn't have got Warne here if it wasn't a good offer right? I mean who drops down a league? Big Dave isn't coming here in a million years he wanted a new contract 4x what he was on before promotion according to Sheffield Wednesday's chairman/owner.

I'd take anything Chansiri says with a boatload of salt. In any case big dave might have been on £10 per month before promotion. If we don't know what his wages were originally 4x means nothing

Too far for Oxford fans. Really?

We are just setting off from Skipton now (somilar journey) for our first game of the season. Can't wait.

    COYR.

PS. Will give Leeds the customery 2 fingered salute on the way through.

Its 100 miles to oxford. They're going to struggle to make kick off if they work a full time job

This makes me sad, Pearson taking advantage of the hard work we've done developing players. If he gets Bird too as the rumours suggest, I might have to move to the southwest!

We put a lot of work in to developing players and then play them in half a dozen different positions they're not suited for and then wonder why they do better when they leave us. May as well not bother developing anyone if we're just going to ruin their development as soon as they get in the first team

I don’t know, I’m no expert. If the money is in China perhaps it doesn’t matter so much where he lives or where the business is registered. In any event, I didn’t say it was entirely believable. I only said it sounded a tad more credible than Kirchner’s ludicrous claims that his money had gone to somewhere in Europe and was being held up by extensive AML checks (I can’t remember the full story now).

The situation is more similar to the Dr Xi situation with Aston Villa than it is with the Kirchner situation. Not the first time the chinese government has stopped people taking money out of the country

Pretty close.  Didn't Huddersfield get 15 and Villa about the same.  Neither will stay up.  They've invested nothing and will get the same in return.  The money will be spent on clearing Sheff Utds debt and Lutons new ground.  That's fine and wise but they'll get beaten more often than not.

Don't bother arguing that 4 points is close. The people on here think 2 different results is a yawning chasm that is lightyears away from what we achieved, so its impossible for anyone to ever beat our record from now until the end of time. It will happen eventually - my money is on Sunderland reclaiming the honour next time they get promoted.

  19. 5 hours ago, TigerTedd said:

And a shiny new 10pt record they can be proud of.

Its a sensible move, but it’s almost putting the competition into disrepute. They’ve essentially already accepted relegation. So they’ll have no motivation at all. Might as well just give every other team (except forest) 6pts and let them sit this one out.

I think they'd struggle even if they spent all the money on new players. With the squad they already have i dont think theyd be competitive either way. May as well spend it on a new stadium and try again in the championship

  20. 3 hours ago, Gee SCREAMER !! said:

If they have a bit of sense they'll upgrade the ground as much as possible. Portsmouth didn't.  That was a mistake.

Dunno if it got planning permission yet, but they want to build an entirely new stadium, which i guess is where a lot of their prem money will go
