  1. Fortnite fans... for anyone that missed the rocket launching tonight this is a great video.

What does Season 5 have in store for us...?  Aliens? Time Travel? Inter-dimension goofiness!  Whatever they do witnessing the event live was pretty special, everyone on the servers just stopped and looked up (well, apart from that 1 guy that now has the WR kills for knocking down a platform holding 48 people watching the event - there's always 1 lol ? )

  2. The big pull for Fortnite, and similar games, is the fact that you're playing with and against real people rather than AI bots - no matter how good the AI is you can usually adapt or come up with a strategy to guarantee a win, people however play in thousands of different ways and are always coming up with new tricks.  Add to that the fact that you are beating other people rather then the computer itself it is more satisfying.

I'm not so good at Fortnite myself but do find it strangely compelling, especially late at night when you can jump in tired, not engage your brain to have some fun.  I much prefer MMORPGs (Star Wars Galaxies being my all time favourite) however and the same principle applies, you're playing with and against real life people building up your character or empire in a social environment - I know people from all over the world that I've kept in touch with for in some cases around 20 years who I've never met nor will probably ever meet in real life.

For me at least, its turned a sad, lonely hobby into a bit of a social event.

That’s not the forum, it’s the device you are using. Do yourself a favour and get an Apple device.

Hmm, well that took some digging but yeah it was a Firefox issue ty.  Not sure about the Apple advice though ?

I loved the idea of Rust when I got back in to PC gaming last year. Had quite a lot of fun playing it initially, then the griefing went from being funny to being down right annoying. I managed to keep a starter base maintained for atleast half a wipe before I got offline raided and lost atleast 12 hours worth of grinding. Never played the game much afterwards lol.

I have 3k hours in Just Survive, which is very similar to Rust in a lot of ways.  How Fallout 76 handles online raiding (groups vs solo players) as well as offline raiding will definitely have a large effect on how enjoyable it is.  Here's hoping they have learnt from the mistakes of others.

Sounds like a Rust-esque type game with quests chucked in, or have I read it wrong?

Difficult to know for certain, but it does look like its heading that way.  I imagine there will be PvP and PvE servers to cater for all tastes.  I've played a bit of Rust and a lot of Just Survive and enjoy the post apocalyptic PvP setting, Fallout 76 could bring a new spin to this by adding typical Fallout style quests and teamwork - but my main concern would be how to properly protect your base whilst you're offline.  There is no worse feeling than logging in to find your stuff gone whilst you've been asleep.

Certainly a game I'll be keeping my eye on though. Fingers crossed!

Need to get a DCFCfans squad going. I'm at around 15% win rate for season 4, 9% overall. If the games with Time and Kyle go ahead, you'll have to make sure you are in the Premier Online Gaming Discord to get in the same game as them.

If you get a DCFCfans squad going can I be MIkkel Beck? Although according to his Wiki he scored 2 goals for Derby, thats one more than my total wins.  I'm not even Mikkel Beck ffs ?

How much have you played (or payed) to be that close to Omega and yet only have one win?! ?

Thats 1 win in 4 seasons, I am truly awful ?

Actually I'm getting better but my reactions just aren't as quick as the 'twitch kiddies', still its brain dead fun at the end of the day!

As for time/cost, probably an hour a day - I do all the weeklies and the daily every day, thats 9.5 levels per week right there before you add the xp you get for actually playing.  I do get the 25 level battle pass at the start of the season, but thats it.

I do however also have Save the World as well which I play daily, farm certain missions there and you earn enough free V-Bucks to buy yourself the battle pass and a couple of skins each season without actually ever spending anything.

I think I might have bridged gaming and DCFC by potentially arranging something with Timi Elsnik and Kyle McAllister playing with the #1 UK Fortnite player to promote the Fortnite community I run. I will post up times and dates of the Twitch stream, I am sure DCFC fans would be interested in seeing and hearing DCFC players playing a video game.

    Please do!

Me (45) and my youngest (10) play everyday.  I have 1 win, he has 72? We should both unlock our Omega skin tomorrow with the new weeklies!  What is your community btw?  Do you have a website?

Put more than a couple of hours into it unfortunately - played all of yesterday as I wanted to put it through its paces. It's ****. I honestly can't remember actually loathing a CM/FM game as much as this one.

I tried Touch, and actually enjoyed the scenarios to begin with, but eventually it just falls into the same trap - massive injury list, losing games despite outshooting the opposition 20-1, etc etc.

They really need to start putting more effort into the mechanics of the game and less into how they can further milk fans through the mountain of micro transactions that now appear to be built into the game.

Yeah the match engine has come in for a lot of criticism in recent iterations, dominating the opposition yet losing 1-0 happens far to frequently.

Agree about the micro transactions too, I know everyone has to make money but it just feels a bit shady. Separating the database, something that was traditionally free into a paid dlc leaves a bad taste.  Still, its the best football manager game out there, what ya gonna do ?

Picked up the latest iteration of Football Manager - Jesus Christ, when did this game become such a chore to play? Many aspects of it now completely un-intuitive, and I really can't remember any of the previous iterations ever being so little fun to play.

Did you get it from Steam?  If you've played less than 2hrs you can refund.

    Also, check out Football Manager Touch, its  exactly the same game as Football Manager but with all the tedious press conferences and other bloat removed;

  11. Well Fortnite is taking the world by storm at the moment - good for all ages, I play solo (Im 45yo!) and with my 2 kids (10yo and 15yo).  There is a PvE mode to (not free like the PvP mode) that I'd highly recommend too.

Elder Scrolls Online is my preferred MMO, Eve Online is good but has a suicidal learning curve.  The Forest is an excellent survival game.  Planet Coaster an excellent creative/management game.  Football Manager 18 of course to right the wrongs of this season. Far Cry 5 is a lot of fun, Far Cry Primal too if you'd rather wait a few months to pick up the latest games at 50-70% discount! GTA5 is good, SHhadow of Mordor is imo better than the sequel.

The Witcher 3, Stellaris, Civilization 5 (6 is ok too), Prison Architect, No Mans Sky (is getting better with every patch) Left 4 Dead 2, Just Survive 3, Elite Dangerous, Dishonored, CSGO, PUBG, Dying Light, Dungeons 3, Hitnan, Alien Isolation, Overwatch, Titfall 2 was good, Rocket League.  I could go on - best bet imo is to wait for a steam sale and pick up more than you'll ever play for next to nothing :p

I'm getting a gaming laptop soon. Anyone have recommendations for games? :)

Depends... what do you like?  MMOs, FPS, RPG, etc.  Need a genre or two to narrow it down!

Get on Cities: Skylines as well, it is an incredible game if you like management/building games.

Yeah, got that as well thanks :)

Other similar games I can recommend are Dungeons 3, Astroneer and Rimworld.  Whilst not the same genre The Forest, No Mans Sky (much better since launch and big update coming soon), Oxygen Not Included and Osiris New Dawn are well worth picking up in a sale on Steam - all excellent games.

It's a Battle Royale game where you can play on your own or in squads where 30 year olds like me get killed by 9 year olds - who then pay to unlock stupid dances to mock your dead body. I've spent my life playing FIFA, and can't believe how bad I am at shooting somebody else first. Addictive, though.

Well I'm 45 and been gaming for years, the only Fortnite BR game I've won is in a duo with my 10yo lad.  He has upwards of 50 solo wins.

After watching my 10yo and 15yo play games such as Fornite, CSGO, PUBG and Overwatch etc I am rapidly coming to the opinion that my forte lies with Planet Coaster and Surviving Mars
