We as fans have questioned scouting and recruitment for years.

Rooney has been at Moor Farm day in day out for almost two years.

How could he miss the need for a change?

But then again I suppose it’s the same people who thought it was a good idea to bring him to the Championship on £70-100k a week, so he wouldn’t want to throw them under the bus, would he?

Its all down to recruiting better scouts (which cost money and Derby are a tad short of cash) and the purse is tightly shut. The same people got Rooney in on the Bet 32 deal who basically paid his wages. It's the manager's that agree to the scputs/recruitment choices on taking on new players. Poor old Rooney has not beeen able to have the cherry pick, more of Hobson's choice. Also Rooney has only been the sole manager for just over one year. Under Nigel Clough we had some good players come in, Chris Martin, Craig Forsyth, Dean Moxey, Jake Buxton, Shaun Barker, Tomasz Cywka, Jamie Ward and Craig Bryson. I think the biggest expense was £900k for Barker (who was involved with scouting/recruitment then, I don't know), But the manager must have had the last say.

  2. Why should we start the reset in League one. If we get a result this week with the appeal on the 12 points. We get new owners in place before January all bills are paid, embargo is lifted, Bielik is back and at his best, we have a natural goalscorer smacking them in from January until the end of the season. The 9 points for FFP does not materialize during this season, the team have still have 30 games to play.

  3. You can moan and pick fault, but the problem with Derby is obvious. We do not have an out and out goalscorer. This was a problem with the club for about 3 seasons now and you can't blame Rooney for that. Lets hope we get bought and the new owners can supply some monies for the January transfer window. Rooney being a prolific scorer should be able to identify a young striker possibly from league 1 or 2 because i don't think we will be in the market for a Premier or championship standard player.

Then in March onwards will be the time to judge him and his coaches

Having proof of funding and having funding are completely different things. Erik Alonso had proof of funding and it came from somebody else putting money in his bank account. He was going to pay for the club through loans, which is the same thing the american is alledgedly going to do. So what is the difference?

I am sorry that I am concerned that his main business has significantly less turnover than Derby County itself. Happy to be called negative but for me you have to be critical otherwise you are happy clapping your way into liquidation.

There will be lots of vultures circling seeing a cheap way to own a football club with no regards for its history or going forward, just in it to make a quick £. WE have to make sure the new owner will be right for the club otherwise we will be in the same situation a few years down the line, passing the club from one crook to another

the administrators wont care who they sell it too as long as they get paid. we HAVE to be critical

I think Eric Alonso's backers stalled on him and that's why Mel pulled the plug on him. Where is your evidence that Chris Kirchner and Slynco don't have the money and it's coming from a loan elsewhere. And how is any person or company going to make a quick £ when they take over a club with debts to pay? I claim my fiver, your Mr POP from Bristol or Steve (I've thrown my dolly out the pram) Gibson in disguise

Why don’t we score? Here are the answers:

    - No runners in behind, everyone wants it to feet.

    - No focal point to play off - maybe CKR will help

    - Creativity is middle of the pitch only (coupled with point one)

    - Our free kicks from outside the box shooting are desperate to say the least - i’d let Bird have them all and I’d keep Lawrence well and truly away from them

    - Morrison plays too deep so you’re constantly left with him, Bird and Shinnie being too far outside the box to scare the oppo

    - Joz and Sibley just foat out of games (although they haven’t floated in to begin with)

    - our crossing is atrocious (combined with point two)

We could do with just replacing the whole front four!

    What we do well though:

    - both fullbacks get forward well and at the same time - this is key so the inevitable overhit cross can be picked up (That’s when Buchanan doesn’t kick it out for a goal kick)

    - We do find and create pockets of space through our middle third play but then we must get forward in numbers to capitalise on this

    - Knight is massive for us and can be a real star. He’s prepared to do the dirty work yet has a huge engine to get up and down and tries to make the runs.

I think Knight is our best player by a country mile, watched him a few years ago when he was 17 at Plymouth Argyle in the U23s league cup and he was the best player on the pitch back then.

Do we have a good case to appeal or is it a case of them going "why not?"

For me the money should have been spent elsewhere and used to preserve jobs, I just cannot see a world in which we stay up. So we somehow win this admin appeal (which is all based on covid - something every other club has dealt with in the whole EFL), then we get another deduction anyway for all the legal issues over the past few years and we are worse off than before the appeal anyway. And that is best case scenario here.

The priority is making sure this club survives and is on it's way to become sustainable, all your doing if you throw everything at trying to somehow keep us up is attracting owners that are going to run us like a toy anyway, like this yank that seems desperate to take us over despite having no evidence of being able to fund us.

I don't think for one minute a reputable firm of Administrators would come up with the answer "why not". Everything they do with cutting staff, wages etc is done with lots of planned thought. The appeal is probably not solely based on Covid, also nearly every other club were given a loan from the EFL. The other possible points deduction for the FFP is down to the appeal being won by the EFL. Lets not forget the finding by the independant board was resubmitting 3 years of accounts and £100k fine (which Rick Parry was not happy with), hence why they appealed against it.

Yes, the priority is for the club to survive and become sustainable. I don't think a business fom USA are going to use us like a toy, most Yankie companies are very successful and look at Derby being a good viable asset to make money from especially if the club find on field success which would attract bigger sponsorship etc. Stating the yank (I am assuming you mean Chris Kirchner) having no evidence of being able to fund us, the administrators have already stated that he is a creditable buyer. You seem to be basing your assumptions on the fact the adminstrators are a bunch of cowboys.

The article does not even mention  Carlisle Capital- it just refers to American wealthy backers

I'm assuming there's not loads of prospective buyers based in USA. So Cook must be with Chris Kirchner or Carlisle Capitol.

It does not mention Carlisle Capitol, but I'm sure I read some where that the Adminstrators had stated there was two from USA. Obviously one is Chris Kirchner and I'm sure Carlisle Capitol put out a statement recently naming themselves.

I do believe there is an element of "we can't be seen to have been made a fool of by Derby" from the EFL side.

I remember when the administration deduction appeal was announced the EFL were hopping mad that we'd dare to be so bold.

It's our Administrators that's pushed an appeal through against the 12 points, so they must know we have a good case to appeal. Surely they would'nt be wasting our miserly funds on a case that does not have a chance of coming out in our favour. Looks as if the EFL want to lock the gate firmly shut knowing that we might make ground on this appeal. Stopping any others winning appeals and making them look unprofessional (which they are).

I'm not sure how much money he has or how much he is worth but aslong as helps fund and drive the club foward I will be right behind him. I know where have been here  before but he is saying all the right things at the moment. Hopefully it will all be sorted by January...

Hopefully it will all be sorted BEFORE January PLEEEEEASE

I was in Great Yarmouth this weekend just gone. There is a shop selling sports memorabilia and in their window is a 1975 Charity Shield Derby shirt signed by Charlie George. Its not the one he wore at that match but a replica retro shirt. They got his signature on the shirt in 2019. They are asking £90 for it, which is cheap. Shop is called Legends and Memories, they have a website and you can view it, could be your Christmas pressie if you have a loved one willing to spend £90+ postage.

Just another point of interest, the 1975 Charity Shield match was Charlie's 1st game for the Rams

Fab - thanks Loweman - I will take the advice. I have a decent budget - and it’s a signature piece I am looking for to finish off my office. Ironically I did have a really nice framed match worn Charlie George shirt (unsigned) but gave it to my nephew (who’s name is Charlie George) 18 years ago when he was born. How I secretly regret that show of generosity now. He is a rams fan now though - so every cloud!

I think the Wycombe thing is sad. They are trying to put fuel on the fire thats not lit. Since news of creditable prospective new owners as come out they must have got their lawyers to write a begging letter to the administrators, hoping they pass it on to the new owner.     Even Mr Popodopolous (Bristol City Forum, who hates us) states the Wycombe whinge should be with the EFL and not Derby. Talking of Mr Pop-at-Derby-i'm-jealous, he's stated that April 22nd 3pm at Pride Park could be the day Derby get relegated (no prizes for who our opponents are that day).

P.S. Article on his statements can be found on their forum site under the title "Derby Deserve Relegation"

Mr Pop-at-Derby-i'm-jealous, even got the date wrong, it's actually the 23rd of April
