He also knows how to get a club relegated. Without the assistance of a hefty points deduction. Also proven.

I mean honestly, he won't personally be running anything at dcfc. So who's he going to put in to do that job and will the plan bear any resemblance to Newcastle?

To my mind there's no more relevance than saying that Mel Morris is a business genius cos he knows a money making app when he sees one......

I'm not saying he would definitely be a disaster. But there should be a decent level of critical analysis applied to any deal, Ashley included.

Mike Ashley started his business in 1982 at 18yrs old by taking a loan from his family to open his 1st sports shop in Maidenhead.  He's now the 61st richest business person in UK. I doubt he's done it all on his own. I can imagine that he has the power, money and conections to have the right people involved in working and running a football club. Certainly made more money than Mel, who is a few years older than Mike Ashley

  2. In a nice fantasy world. Ashley buys the club, buys the Stadium off Mel/MSD, pays off all creditor's. Takes the EFL to court and wins the case (gets the 9 points deducted back). Takes that idiot Gibson and the gobby yank at Wycombe to court and sues them for millions. We finish the season in a comfortable mid-table position.

    And then next season..................................................

Still not sure why he's interested. Owning a football club is a giant mugs game.

Puts his business in the shop window, gets noticed through a football club. More advertising revenue through name of stadium, shirt sponsorship etc Plus he's just made £305m by selling a club where the fans hated him (all because they were'nt in the Champions league etc).

On the down side, this late bid will now hold up the sale of the club and might not give Wayne any chance of strengthening the squad.

Assets are what people own,if you think otherwise carry on.

So the footballers at Derby are'nt ASSETS because the club don't own them, going by your statement. They are employees who are under various contracts and if the administrators were to sell a player still under contract and make money for the club, is that not a asset?

  5. 20 minutes ago, atherstoneram said:

What other assets, the club don't own the stadium or training ground, fans are not classed as assets, the club don't own any fans.

Look up "Asset" it means a useful thing or person. A similar wording for asset "an item of property owned by a person or company, regarding as having value and available to meet debts, commitments or legacies"

A football business would definitely class a fan being useful (buying tickets etc) an asset. Even though a football club don't own the fan, his or her legacy to the club is still feeding monies into the company by regularly buying its product.

The club will only go forward if it's viable, unfortunately fans are not an asset.

A regular buyer is an investor in the football club, therefor a fan BUYING, tickets, club shop items, programs etc are an asset. No fans, no buyer, no asset from approximately 40,000+ fans. Other assests are the infrastructure of the club also, i.e. Stadium, training/accademy ground, saleable players etc

I know it's frustrating but if the administrators are not in a position to say anything more, what would be the point in endless engagement that says "we're working on it, but don't have anything new to say" each time.

The administrators and potential buyers do have some reasonable expectation to conduct business in private, especially when things are not yet at any confirmation of preferred bidder status.

They shouldn't have said imminently and should have said "expect to name a preferred bidder in due course"

And if that was their closing sentence on Christmas eve the fans would'nt be so frustrated/angry etc. But to say "imminently" then no other comments and 12 days later still nothing, is disgusting. You can look at it several ways with what their job spec is ? Make cuts=done, Sort out who needs paying=done, Find prospective buyers and do checks on them=done, Keep the shareholders updated=not sure.

Administration in business is slightly different to a proffesional  football club going into administration and this lot at our club need to get it right or lose out on other future clubs needing their so called expertise if they fall foul. What they are not doing is giving any feedback to Wayne Rooney (who must have a plan A & B waiting to be implemented. And yes the fans are important, they are part of the clubs business plan/ structure. Future shareholders, buyers of the product (tickets), merchandise etc But to go 12 days with not even atalk with the manager, local press and fans is out of order.  I don't want any replies on here stating they are busy, they can't spare any time (it takes minutes to out with an update statement, even if there is no update TELL US).

But sending a list of questions to the administrators will not make the £5m any more or less likely to arrive.

Its just another hour of their time on the clock, answering questions that we can't do anything about even once given the answers.

Bloody hell, a hour of their time, they left the office at lunchtime on Christmas eve and have probably only just come back from a long festive break and will be putting the coffee on imminently.

Colin KR, Ebosele and Morrison have all made vital contributions coming off the bench in recent games. Each brings something different at a crucial stage in matches when they're won and lost, whether it be Colin KR's presence and goal scoring, Ebosele's pace and drive, or Morrison's guile and ball retention.

The question is, should some or all of these three be starting? Lawrence blows hot and cold, Knight and Jozwiak are hard workers but don't seem to offer much in the way of attacking threat right now.

I personally think Colin KR would'nt be as effective starting and the same goes for Ebosele. Knight, Plange and Jozwiak kept their defence busy and bringing on two fresh and both different attacking players bamboozled the defence.  Lawrence had a quiet game and could have scored, the same goes for Ravel when he came on. They are very much the same in their positions on the pitch and I don't think you can play both at the same time for long periods in a match.

It could be Hull or Reading or us if our form improves ...

Cardiff are most likely to finish 21st, if everyone repeats their first half season form. Assuming that reading won't get a second set of 6 points deducted, they should overtake Cardiff.

I read in the daily Mirror earlier this week that Reading are desperate to sell players in the transfer window to sort out their finances. If thats true and they sell 2 or 3 players, they could become a weaker team. Even better if they get their 6 points suspended activated.

Given how poor the relegation rivals are, I think 45 points will be enough for safety this season. 10 wins from 22, a few more draws.

If we can bring in reinforcements I'd say 50%

Got to agree the Championship is poor, we've got 2 teams currently in a play off place thats lost more games than the Rams. There will not be lots of clubs splashing the cash in this transfer window, so some of them will not improve their current form at this halfway stage of the season. Some of them have been calling games off stating they have'nt enough players to play the game.  EFL have been hoodwinked over that (they stated 14 players fit including youth and one goalie). I remember Rotherham cancelling matches last season when they had just 4 or 5 key players with covid (well it bit them on the bum having to play 2/3 games a week in the last 4 weeks of the season.

Win 3 and draw one of our 5 January fixtures and I think I would move our chances from 10% to about 30%.

Goodbye 2021, without a deduction this team made up of freebies and academy players would be 13th in the Championship, just 8pts off the top 6.

    Build the Rooney statue now.

First job in management, everything he's had to deal with, incredible job he's doing. ???

Check with Jourdan first and I still think there is a big task to close up on the 3 teams above us.

We need 12 wins, 4 draws and 7 defeats then. Well we have lost 7 in the 1st half of the season, so we have to match that in the 2nd half. Double our wins and cut down on the draws. !2 winnable games, Cardiff home and away, Reading away, Sheff Utd home, Brum home, Hull home, Peterboro home, Barnsley home, Preston home, Bristol home, Blackpool away and one other which could be a surprise/shock result. 4 draws could come from  Stoke away, Forest away, Swansea away and QPR away.

But this will only happen if we start scoring more goals, Plange, Stretton or an incoming striker in the transfer window ?                                 I think its a tall order, but not impossible, we will have to see.

Feeling smug, Plange scored, and the Stoke match I picked out for a draw. So thats our surprise win, lets hope the other teams  I picked out to win against come to fruition. Need to find another draw against another opponent in our remaining games. That would give us 47 points. If thats not enough, then  hope we climb above the current 2 teams above us and Reading balls up and have their other 6 points that are currently suspended activated.
