We are actually officially the best team to have ever been relegated to League One.

I don’t mean that in an arrogant way. This team, in a season with deductions, would have finished on 55 points (I’d say more as we checked out against Bristol City and Cardiff), and we would have finished in 17th place, above seven other teams.

People look at how Ipswich, Charlton, Bolton and Sunderland have struggled down there. Yes, but they got relegated with far less points and therefore a worse team.

I don’t think many of League One’s current top eight would finish above 17th in the Championship. Therefore our current team is better (or has more quality) than every other League One side right now.

A lot can happen over the summer. But if we keep this squad and improve it, we have to be looking at automatic promotion.

    Champions please

  2. Whose looking forward to League one, Well I hope Chris Kirchner is, along with Wayne and most of our squad that stated they wanted to stay. On top of that, I am, with living in Plymouth there will be a few nearby away games I want to attend.  Plymouth (Home Park) is 5 mins walk from my house. Exeter City would take me about 1 hour 20 min on a train and that's taking me to Exeter St James railway station which is approx 50 metres from the ground. Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Ground (been there before in a pre-season friendly) would take me just under 2 hours drive. Hoping Swindon win the League two play-offs, they have a 15,000+ stadium which I can get to in around 2hrs 40 mins. Can do Portsmouth in about 3hrs 30 mins by car. Might struggle to get a ticket for Forest Green Rovers, they have a tiny stadium that only holds just over 5,000.

I can see the Rams making the opposition stadiums their biggest gate of the season.

It’s going to be even sweeter if in 2024 we get promoted to the premier league while complying with our business plan as Bristol get relegated to League 1 after incurring points deductions for FFP breaches.

That could actually happen, I do believe they are losing money every month and have done so for at least the last couple of years.

So why didnt all this happen weeks ago if nothing has changed or progressed?

Obviously something has changed, Quantuma stated upto the 31st of May or earlier. So there must be a good concrete deal sorted for the stadium for this to have gone ahead and also Chris Kirchner being allowed to start financing the club as from next week. Plus the EFL put out a statement at 6pm today, so they have been kept in the picture of the progress and are happy.

  5. Quantuma are going to be the only winners of this balls up, which they have been masters at. It's a bit like the Wagatha libel case, the winners will be the lawyers. And who picked the Administrators, yes it was Mel. I just hope tomorrow somebody states some facts on where we are and whats happening. Time for this nightmare to finish, sort it everyone.

Who's to blame for the last 8 months, Mel Morris, EFL, Steve Gibson, Quantuma, Rick Parry, Tyre kickers (Fake Sheikh & Alonso), bad refs and that gobby yank at Wycombe. Please feel free to inform me of any other parties that I have missed off the list. The ones that come out with credit in this, is Wayne and his coaching staff, the players and the FANS.

Some fair points, but it's not going to be possible for the Council to buy the stadium within the next few months. It would be a massive public outlay so would rightly require an extensive investigation and period of due diligence. Something doesn't seem to add up in terms of Kirchner's reluctance to buy the stadium (on the cheap in that the price is meant to be a quarter of its value) if he had the money to do it. Yes Punjabi Rams have been suggesting local business people are trying to do Kirchner a favour and buy the stadium for him, but I've not heard that it's "with him". You're being very generous talking about a "slight hold up". Kirchner knew the deadline and couldn't meet it. It's been extended a week and there seems little sign that it's going to be met.

With the short 2nd extention of buying the club and sorting out the stadium now until Monday, it suggests to me that something is very close but could not be concluded by Saturday evening. I hope I'm right on this assumption.

  7. Looking at the definite teams at this stage that will be in League 1, there is only a few grounds that would be able to give Rams fans a decent amount of ticket allocations. Fleetwood, Accrington and FGR only have capacities of just above 5,000, so tickets will be limited. Regardless of what others say, Derby will be a big draw for a lot of the teams in this division and if Rooney is steering the ship, that will add to the attraction.

I feel we will only have good vocal away support at a small number of grounds next season. With teams dishing out their allocation of tickets to the Rams. Currently only 9 teams have a capacity of over 15,000 stadiums, them being Charlton 27k+, Ipswich 30k+, Portsmouth 20k+, Bolton 28k+, Plymouth 18k+, Sheff Weds 39k, MK Dons 30k+, Peterborough 15k+ and Barnsley 23k+. Added to this list could be Sunderland if they fail in their final (49k) or Swindon 15k+ and Port Vale 20k+ that are in the league 2 play offs. If we are flying next season, we could be the club that might break the opposition best ever attendance.

I will be looking forward to attending Plymouth, Exeter and Bristol Rovers away. I think tickets for FGR and Cheltenham will be hard to get for me. From a selfish point of view, I hope Swindon win the League 2 play offs for another possible visit.

I disagree in that I am always thinking of the Premier League. I don't want us ever not to have that ambition. The sooner the better. Whether CK can deliver on that is a key question for me.

Ashley has the money and the experience of running a club and his only reason for owning us would be eventually to own a Premier League club. Plus his distribution centre is in Derbyshire. I don't understand Kirchner's motivation for buying us except to rub shoulders with Rooney and receive the adulation of the fans. I hope he does have the money (but if he did he surely wouldn't need other people to buy the ground for him) and there are better reasons for him to be involved, but I don't understand what they are.

There must have been a detailed check on Chris Kirchner's wealth to have got this far. He or his team would have submitted a 2 year business plan to the EFL, in which ties up money over the next two seasons. So I think there is not enough cash to buy the stadium at the price Mel wants. Hence the slight hold up and Kirchner wanting the Derby city council to buy the stadium. It seems the city council can not meet Mel's price or get him to reduce the value(due to the MSD loan that he needs to pay back). There is a strong rumour, a local unnamed businessman with others involved is trying to buy the stadium and if true, Chris Kirchner would be aware and involved.

Chris Kirchner stated a while back is love for football and there is some of his motivation to get involved with a founder member of the  football league  the first one in the world (that would look good on your CV). Also this would be good PR for his company and help his business to grow.

    Haha. Maybe!

I have nothing to base this on, but I have a feeling MM and MA might have already done a deal for the stadium. MA didn't get the preferred bidder status which is fine, they just have to hold out. MM wants the stadium gone, so there is no interest in MM making a deal for the stadium with anyone else. This allows MM to continue to control the process.  When the 'Preferred Bidder' status expires MM and MA can resume and finalise.

MA knows what he is doing. I can't see CK buying this club.

Again, nowt to base this on, just my thoughts.

    No beer involved then

It's all getting a little silly now, 3 days left of the already extended deadline and for progress to be made a stadium needs to be purchased (seeing as Kirchner wont lease from Mel), something we are told "talks are ongoing".

CK pulling out would be disastrous, as Wayne and most the players will be off, but I think its the likely scenario with Ashley swooping in.

Would it be good if Mike Ashley bought the stadium off MM and then went into joint ownership with Kirchner with the club. Or have i drunk too much beer.

Sadly I'm so used to reading bad news or about further obstacles, it's difficult to feel optimistic anymore

Unfortunately every time we make some progress with coming out of administration, the EFL find another obstacle to throw in the way.

I think there were 2 agreed decisions at different points in time:

    1) "we" accepted a suspended 3 point penalty for non-payment of player wages in Dec 2020 which would be implemented if we failed to pay again before 30 June 2022 (Sheffield Wednesday also accepted a similar suspended penalty)

    2) "we" accepted a 9 point penalty + 3 points suspended for the FFP breaches. The additional 3 incurred of we didn't stick to the agreed budget for the rest of 2021/22 (Reading 6 + 6 suspended with budget to end of 2022/23).

Yes I think that's correct, but if we did not pay wages upto the 30th June 2022 (that's also when some players contracts run out). Surely that wage payment ties in with this season (2021/22) which would mean a deduction of 3 pts on this season (2021/22).

  13. 3 hours ago, Oldben said:

I might be wrong, but I thought the 3pts that hung over us only counted for this season. So if we breach the non payment of wages, the 3 pts should be deducted off this season's total. Reading's 6 pts deducted for this season and 6 pts suspended if they breach the rules was for this season and next. If I'm wrong, please explain to me, I'm getting older and thought that was case. Or do the EFL move the goalposts when it's to do with Derby.
