Woodrow will be perfectly fine to play Warneball. Smith from Wednesday will be perfectly fine to play Warneball. Good, hardworking individuals, with a pretty good eye for goal.
Anyone wanting a Carlos Juggleaball needs to get real. A) we haven’t got the budget and B) they really wouldn’t fit into the methodology and requirements that Warne and Barker have for forward players.
It’s going to be a tough season, and staying up is key. We could do a lot lot worse than Woodrow and/or Smith.
Hopefully next season we can be more expansive with budget and tactics, but this season settle down and accept we are in for a bit of a grind.

First game of the season always throws out weird results, we lost at home to Wigan last year and Barnsley won 7-0 against port vale. No it didn’t mean we came last and Barnsley won the league. Also Blackburn brought on 3 players who all scored and would more than likely all start if the game was a bit further into the season. Weimann and Ohashi didn’t start as they’re new to the group and Szmodics one of the best players outside the prem in England because of premier league transfer speculation. Can only properly judge how the league will look after about 8-10 games and then see who’ll be fighting for what.

I think the way we’re having to deal in the market is still a legacy of administration.  Whichever division we were in this season a rebuild was needed due to players out of contract and loans expiring.  We’ve got a budget to spread pretty thinly.
The strategy this year could be to focus the permanent signings in the keeper and midfield positions as that’s where we needed the numbers.  We can cover gaps in other areas in loans.  Next summer, as we’ve got those positions on 3-4 year contracts, we can then look at permanent signings in the defence and striker positions.  That way you’re rotating the areas you need to sign in and making the most of your budget in those areas, rather than across the entire squad.
The other aspect to loans is player development.  This is where I think Cocu had it right.  He idea was that if your own player is probably a year away from being ready for the first team, why make a permanent signing on a 3 or 4 year deal.  You’re blocking your own players path to the first team.  Instead, loan a player in, let your own player develop for a season, possibly on loan himself, then he’s ready when your loanee returns to his parent club.  Brown might a good example of this.  Yates and Collins are unlikely to be here next year, unless we sign Yates.  Brown, in my view, would benefit from a L1 loan to play and, hopefully, score regularly.  He comes back next season ready to fill a striker position left by Collins / Yates.  Robinson and loaning Ozoh could be another example.
I get why loans may appear short term, but I wonder if it’s more long term and strategic than it might first appear.

Not all players are going to join & a potential for a good resale value, but you do also have to sign for the here & now too.
Like it or not we are not an established Champ club, so we also have to think long term in terms of what IF we got relegated we cant be lumbered with big costs. We will get the odd foreign gem with resale value (hopefully) & also have our young academy lads who also have resale value. Once we are more established in the Champ that is when you will more than likely see us start to sign younger players.

Oh hang on folks - if we sign him or not, he is a very good footballer who can play centre forward whilst not a thug he is someone who can control a football and play others in which we desperately need as he would give us some shape. His last two seasons have basically been getting promoted and being in the premiership from the bench because Luton had some very good forwards on the pitch achieving results. For our budget this is like Nigel Clough bringing in a Chris Martin type of player.
I would like the lad Taylor as well if it was possible

Many fans rubbished the signing of Shefki Kuqi - 34 years old when he joined us. He only played around a dozen games but he just happened to be a perfect fit - who's to say Woodrow couldn't do a similar job?

I get your point but I think staying in the league is a more pressing concern this year. From a financial point of view too.
And at 29, we could still get 3 years out of Woodrow before letting him go on a free.
