Tamworthram reacted to Topram in Summer transfer suggestion thread
Tough start bradley had and that’s why the hate continues, people won’t change their opinions now, he was a stand out for most of our remaining fixtures

Tamworthram got a reaction from Crewton in Punching above our weight. What do you think would elevate us above mid table next season?
Not according to Transfermkt.co.uk. It was “only” 59,512 last season.
Either way, it wasn’t 65,000 and never has been.

I won't argue about sponsorship, although you're being a bit disingenuous saying they can "attract" lucrative sponsorship deals, when what they actually do is get their own company or a related one to sponsor something to a level which makes other clubs cry "cheat".
I'm not convinced either by your claim about "underfunding" : the Academy clearly isn't underfunded because it's retained it's Cat.1 status; the stadium and pitch (eventually) look far better than they did in Administration and I believe it was Clowes decision to fully integrate the EweRams with the club as a whole which has required some spending. Clowes is also clearly committed to the development of the women's team because he's apparently there at most of the games.

Did you pluck that "fact" from a Which? survey?
I doubt that the average football fan could point to either Villarreal or Derby (or Nottingham for that matter) on a map of the world. "Heard of" is pretty meaningless when assessing relative "size" of football clubs. It's possible that over 1 Bn Chinese have heard of Birmingham City, Reading and West Brom because they've all had Chinese owners but that doesn't make any of them bigger than Derby County.

I've not looked much at them before but you've mentioned them a few times so looked. Only formed in 1920's started as a league club in Division 5 in the 40's, then spent the next 50 years between that league and Division 3. six years in the second division and promoted but immediately relegated, them promoted for about 12 years then relegated and back up. They have won a couple of intertoto cups which as we all now was a kickabout to qualify for an actual tournament . I'm not getting the bigger club. Distinct whiff of Deportivo but without winning ought.

I didn’t realise. According to the BBC they owe £190m in transfer fees of which £73m is due by the end of June. Shame. 😀

It’s no big deal and to be fair, I didn’t stop for either the QPR or Villa presentations. In the latter case though it was mainly because I didn’t want to share the train journey back to Tamworth with a load of celebrating Villa fans.

It’s the league that the club is in that makes the difference, would you really consider Bournemouth a bigger club than Derby if they switched divisions.

Tamworthram reacted to Reggie Greenwood in Live football thread.
Google is your friend 😉They borrowed massive amounts of money to buy players under the American Manager March and end of June is payback time
A hop onto their forum will tell you that they are expecting to lose all their better players and don’t expect to be able to spend any money. FFP could hit them as well.

Not when clubs know it’s a fire sale and they are left with 😉Apparently they owe 79 mill that needs to be paid by June ( thanks @Tamworthram for that info )

Just to be a pedant, the capacity is only 62,500 so they don't actually get 65,000. In fact, the average attendance has only exceeded 60,000 in one season since moving.

Tamworthram reacted to BaaLocks in Wayne Rooney
Whilst I wouldn't be welcoming him back to Derby in a hurry I think it is harsh to consider him a complete write off. In his time with us there was enough to suggest he was keen to learn and develop. DC United could hardly be considered more than a bit of a business venture and at Birmingham, as at Derby, there was enough going off outside the 90 minutes to distract even the best of them.
You'd have to say both that the odds are against him for this to succeed and also that his really is likely to be his last chance. But there are many journeymen managers who fluffed their lines at their first couple of roles but seemed to keep on getting the nod. Rooney wouldn't be the first there.

How is "throwing money at it" the same as "running the club responsibly"?
And does anyone think that David Clowes "lacks ambition"? He's probably just a bit more patient in pursuit of it than some disastrous owners and some fans are.

Except he put money into the Newcastle squad, and got promotion, just not as much money as the Geordies wanted.

Wromg set of accounts. Look at NSWE Sports Limited instead.
£55.3m loss on a £217.7m turnover, mainly due to £194.2m staff costs
