  1. It’s a good shout about the Lincoln v Peterborough game. According to the BBC, Posh had the same number of shots on target at Lincoln as we did. I suggested earlier that probably too many of us are largely judging Peterborough’s footballing ability based on one game when they played us off the park. I suspect there are quite a few Peterborough supporters that consider their performance against us as their best of the season and one they wish they could replicate more often. The same way I wish we could repeat what we did against Oxford away for 70 minutes of the game. The worry is that we haven’t looked very good much this season and we were very poor on Saturday for 60 minutes. I don’t know if that was down to the players ability, the players effort, the formation and tactics they are being asked to play by the manager or the managers ability to change things (probably a combination of all) but I do think we need to improve rather than just keeping up with the pace. I think we’ll make the play offs (but not top two) and it will be interesting to see how we perform in the return fixtures against Stevenage, Barnsley, Bolton and Portsmouth.
  2. whether he is a legend or not, I'm not sure I can stomach this media love in for him for the next few months.
  3. Warne's initial objective is to get us out of league one. If he achieves that then he will have a new objective. I would imagine every manager has short term objectives that are reset once achieved. I agree that we have rarely been convincing this season but you'd have to give him the chance to prove his worth IF we did well enough to grab one of the automatic promotion places. At the end of the day though, it doesn't matter what you or I think should happen. I'd say there is zero chance that he'll get sacked at this season if we got promoted even if it was via the play offs.
  4. Even before that, a couple of bottles were thrown at a Wolves player trying to take a corner. The neanderthal mentality lives on in places.
  5. You could well be right but it doesn't alter the fact that a proportion of supporters bood at half time etc. and cheered when Hourihane was substituted. I think it's a bit of a stretch to come to the conclusion that those reactions were aimed at Warne and not the players. If we're going to cut the players a bit more slack because of the system being forced on them then surely a sympathetic groan rather than boos and a respective silence instead of cheers would have been more helpful and appropriate.
  6. Maybe Oxford are paying over the odds. After all, we’ve been there, done that.
  7. I assume you’re saying that because you believe the defence don’t look confident with Vickers in goal rather than his actual performance yesterday (did he do anything wrong to justify being dropped?) but, for the avoidance of doubt, it might have helped if you’d elaborated on your post.
  8. The answer has to be no (for me anyway. I can’t answer for everyone) but the fact that we won shouldn’t stop us being highly critical of the performance.
  9. Sorry but that is just insane. So, if we managed to grab one of the top two places, or even win the league, you’d get rid of Warne? Warne’s record in the Championship isn’t good but surely any manager that achieved automatic promotion deserves to be given a shot at the next league up. No doubt someone will regurgitate the fact that LR wasn’t given the chance but, as has been pointed out so many times, he was never appointed as manager. I agree, Peterborough played us off the park at our place and we’ve not achieved those levels of performance this season (or perhaps we have - away at Oxford excluding the first 20 minutes?) but they only beat us by a single goal (in the 94th minute) and they didn’t when we play us off the park at Peterborough. Out of interest, how many Championship games (full games, not just the goals on the EFL highlights) do you watch to know that Posh would be bottom six?
  10. I kind of agree but then I look at Kane's record for England. A third of his goals have come from the penalty spot. It doesn't quite feel the same as goals scored from open play - but still not easy and just as important. That's not to take anything away from Collins. He's our top scorer (with and without penalties isn't he?) and a lot of his hard work goes un-noticed by some.
  11. I think we all want entertainment too but the lack of it at the moment won't stop a lot of us attending regardless. It's in your DNA yoof.
  12. I enjoyed the result and I enjoyed two very good goals. However, I was disappointed with our performance for the first 60 minutes. If that makes me a member of your so called “performance police” then guilty as charged.
  13. Well he didn't and I think you know what he meant. He was agreeing we were poor in the first half.
  14. I’m confused. Are you criticising PW for being honest now?
  15. None of their squad had scored in any of their previous 11 league games until they came up against Derby earlier in the season. ☹️ Just sayin.
  16. That looks good on paper. Makes it look like we’ve got 4 up front. 😀
  17. He’s got us playing in the top 7 of the league we are currently competing in. Warne gets a lot of criticism (a good chunk of it justified) but not competing at the top end of the Premier League with Premier League players is a tad harsh. 😀
  18. Absolutely spot on. We’ve won a lot of games this season and scored plenty of goals but I can’t honestly say I’ve enjoyed too many of them from a sporting spectacle. Too many games we’ve won I’ve thought phew, what a relief we managed to hang on. However, there is zero doubt that I will renew and continue to attend the games. For many, I suspect, once it’s in your blood it takes an awful lot to voluntarily give it all up.
  19. His precision wasn’t that good given his funds ended up in mainland Europe instead of coming straight to the UK 😉 I know we joke about it now but how was he ever going to get away with it when the funds never even existed? Probably the worst that could have happened is the process could have been delayed even longer. He was never in a position to actually complete on the transaction. Makes you wonder why he ever did it.
  20. Only if he was appointed for his management ability and not because he was a legend as a player.
  21. No. It wouldn’t be appropriate. Applaud him when he’s warming up and when his name is announced. After that, for the next 90 minutes, he’s a player for the other team. Applaud him if/when he gets substituted and at the end but not during the game.
  22. Nah. The deal would NEVER have been completed as the funds would still be held up by AML checks to this day (allegedly). Hell would have frozen over or we'd all be using crypto (sorry @NottsRam77. I couldn't resist) before the money arrived 😀
  23. Mmm, I don’t entirely agree. Yes, it would be good if the crowd don’t “give up” but I don’t think that is sufficiently mitigating for the players to lack effort. Can you imagine the post match player interview “yes we didn’t try hard enough but that the fans fault”
  24. Can’t Brown be recalled if necessary (e.g. an injury to Collins)? If that’s true and is your only argument then it’s not bad management as it allows Brown to get much needed first team games under his belt but be recalled, match fit (unless of course he picks up an injury).
  25. I spotted the winking emoji so I won’t take your comments too seriously. However, it’s not really the main point, I doubt DC will be laughing if it all goes belly up and we all had one of the key elements of the due diligence namely PW’s record for getting teams promoted out of L1 v LR’s. If it does all go wrong then absolute credit to anyone who genuinely called it at the time but, as I say, in a objective assessment of the two managers at the time, it would have been difficult (and brave) to come down in LR’s favour.
