  1. The relegated 3 have the worst accumulated points record in history. Also they’ve conceded the most amount of goals.

If you actually look at the PL table, you see the 8 biggest clubs in the top 8 on 60+ points. Then you have West Ham in 9th, and Everton would have been around there if not for the points deduction.

There is then a batch of similar size clubs in Wolves, Palace, Brighton, Fulham, Bournemouth and Brentford. Clubs who were all Championship or below 10-15 years ago who have done well to cash in on the PL riches and stay there.

They are the 40-50 point group. Forest will look to break into this group.

But then again so will Leicester and Leeds - both look pretty capable.

It will be interesting to see a league table without results against the bottom 3. Forest for instance picked up 12 points from the 6 games against the bottom 3. They only picked up 24 points from the other 32 games. Pathetic.

  2. The 3 promoted teams have gone out with a whimper. Luton to their credit were never expected to put up much of a fight, but Burnley and Sheffield United have been appalling.

You’d expect Leicester and Leeds to be far better equipped.

As for Forest, it depends on what their summer is like and how much wiggle room they have. Brentford could struggle next season if Toney leaves, or Thomas Frank. Wolves and Fulham both have looked poor for the last 1/4 of the season too, not sure if that is down to injuries, players on the beach or what.

There are teams for Forest to reel in but next season could be the one where their luck runs out.

I think usyk edged the fight. Fury seemed comfortable until the 7th and then didn't seem to have the recovery powers he once did.   All be it impressively staying up in the 9th

I think fury is a shadow of himself which is sad to see because the best fury beats usyk easily IMO

This one probably can't, he's had too many wars.

The best Fury? What even is the best Fury?

It’s hard to gauge how good somebody actually is when they only fight once a year and largely against select opponents.

Between Wilder 3 and Usyk, three years have gone by and in that time Fury has only fought Dillian Whyte, Chisora and Ngannou.

Fury has wasted his prime years holding out for big money and taking easy fights.

Usyk meanwhile has taken on everybody.

At 37, Usyk has nothing left to prove and sadly Fury’s antics will have robbed us of the fight we all want to see vs AJ.

  4. If you don’t stop Usyk in the first 6 rounds or built up a big enough lead like 6-0 or 5-1, you are going to pay the price because he steps on the gas while his opponents fade. Usyk’s punch output takes its toll.

Fury was lucky the ref didn’t stop the fight in the 9th. Remember when the ref stopped the fight on Groves vs Froch, his state wasn’t anywhere near as bad as Fury’s.

Yet we tore Oxford a new arse at their gaff and should have had 5, despite Wildsmith giving them a 2 goal 10 minute head start.  Ying and yang .  All games are different.

I’m not sure how that is relevant to the supposed Warne blueprint of how to beat Bolton.

Bolton have been dreadful here. They haven’t even had a shot on target yet.

It could of course be that a manager had followed Warnes blueprint and realised how to completely nullify Boltons threat?

What? Oxford look completely comfortable here. Derby on the other hand were lucky Wildsmith had the game of his life and we scored late on from a corner.

We were poor against Bolton. And if we play like that every game in the Championship we will be relegated.

  7. Phillip Cocu and Nigel Clough are the only two managers in the past 20 years that cared more about (and prioritised) the wellbeing of the club as opposed to their own personal goals.

Phillip Cocu and Nigel Clough are the only two managers in the past 20 years who could build a team to an identity.

Phillip Cocu will achieve more in his managerial career (a last 16 Champions League spot and top division title on his resume) than any other Derby manager for the next 50+ years.

Leeds did the double over us. Does that mean Leeds are going to beat Southampton. I hope not.

Do Leeds have a better chance than Southampton of finishing above Forest next season? I think they probably do.

I don't know.  Both had crap form over the last 8 games of the season.

Crap form, but still finished about 12 and 17 points clear of their playoff opponents and just cruised into the final.

Southampton and West Brom was a little closer, but you always felt the Saints were going to win.

Leeds demolished Norwich. Could have been seven or eight.

Interesting that Southampton did the double over Leeds in the league, while Leeds did the double over Leicester and Ipswich while those clubs did the double over Southampton. Weird.

Mind you, what a fun summer it was. 15-year-old me thought we were going to walk the league.

Hugely exciting with the rumours, open chequebook approach.

But it was just plain stupid without a plan.

I still to this day don’t know who signed all those players. Mel was happy to splash the cash, but was it he who identified the players and made the decisions? Rush? Clement? Or some recruitment team who were playing real life football manager?

I made the point many times but they would have had more success picking 10 random forum members as their recruitment team for that summer.

As any sane fan at the time knew the areas we needed to improve and the type of player we needed.

  11. Even if we had beaten Villa, we were in a hole then and promotion may not have helped.

If you could go back to one point, it was at the end of 2014/15.

Even if you sack McClaren. Don’t go and spend £25m in one summer on a bunch of random players and hire a manager who’d never managed before.

That summer alone is the primary reason we went down to League One. Every bad decision after that was a consequence of trying to rectify the monumental mistakes made that summer.

  12. If Fury can make Usyk fight a fight he doesn’t usually fight, then he will probably win on points.

But if Usyk fights how he did against AJ, or pretty much anybody else, he will win. Usyk’s volume is just so much higher than Fury, he averages like 3x as many punches in a round - against bigger guys than himself.

Fury beat Klitschko by basically making him fight in a way we’d not seen in years. He never threw a right hand. And back then Fury was a far busier fighter. In his recent fights he has slowed down a lot.

If he can slow the pace against Usyk, he stands a chance. But on volume alone, I see Usyk just rattling off rounds.

  13. Girls tend to hit puberty before boys do too. It goes to show that skill wise it can be similar.

But physicality is a major factor, and physicality also affects the skill level when you can simply move that much quicker.

I remember playing football as a youth and at U15 level everybody seemed pretty similar. At that age we were all around 5ft 4. It wasn’t until we went U16 we started noticing, and then to U18s was a different ball game as entirely suddenly we were up against 6ft+ athletes.

This can’t be contested. It’s been a dreadful season. Points dedications and terrible refereeing decisions aside. We’ve distinctly underperformed.

It’s easy to say you should be higher. But higher than who?

Do you think you have underperformed because of the money spent? Or underperformed because of the quality at your disposal?

I don’t think player wise you are any better than the sides above you. Palace, Brentford, Fulham and Bournemouth all have better players (and managers).
