We're in league one. We can't afford Sean Dyche, and he wouldn't join even if we could.

Absolutely get your thinking mate. Pretty much mirrors my own. I think some stats based metrics have to be applied but maybe to maintain the suspense throughout the fight, the scores should not be revealed until after the final round, or maybe after every 3rd round? Ideally, they'd just find judges who won't sell their souls for £500 and posh hotel room, but clearly that's beyond them.

Really torn over the judges and how to fix how biased they are at times. My head says something like what you described is perfect, a stats based measuring system that keeps it fair. What more could you ask for

But the sadistic twisted heart of mine is somehow drawn to the way it is, the unpredictability (or predictable I suppose) nature of how its scored. The controversy and anger that follows. Its almost that ingrained into the sport that it would lose something if it disappeared if that makes sense? Or maybe I'm a dinosaur that can't handle progress.

We'd know the exact score of the match as it progresses, that seems to take a spark away from it, it removes the debating over who you think won a round with your mates live.

There's also something really pleasing when a boxer goes to the other guys yard, and forces that decision when you know no one else in that arena wants it including the judges, that win against all the odds.

Not surprised by the bias at all. It's America and Canelo is the current cash-cow or at least he was. If he takes the re-match, which I doubt he will, despite the bluster, he'll just get beaten up again. Bivol himslef expressed concerns about getting the decision in the US but stated that he'd welcome the chance to show the world how good he is. I certainly wasn't the only man hoovering up the 5/1 on the Exchanges and yet the money still poured in on Canelo who was as short as 2/9 by the start of the fight. Honestly makes me wonder how many of those punters had even seen Bivol fight, or if they had, what they'd seen that made them think he could lose.
As for Bivol dominating the division for years, there's the small matter of Artur Beterbiev to overcome before such claims can be made, though I'd not put it past him. That said, IMO Beterbiev is pound-for-pound the most destructive fighter out there and let's not forget he's also the current WBC and IBF LH champ. It has to be noted though that he's not getting any younger. It'll be interesting to see whether Joel Diaz and the Bivol camp see making that fight as a worthwile risk, or whether they take the cash should Canelo be dumb enough to exercise the re-match clause. I don't think the Canelo camp fancied Beterbiev one bit and saw Bivol as the easier option, so I think Artur ends up by default with Bivol or Buatsi as his next meaningful challenger.
Talking of the latter, I mentioned Buatsi a while back. He's raw, but extremely dangerous and I suggested on here a while back that he was worth following. He takes on Craig Richards in an all British elimination bout this month and I expect Buatsi win with minimal fuss. For such a lovely bloke outside the ring, Buatsi scares the crap out of me when he pulls the gloves on. He's beyond ferocious and just walks through anything and everything thrown at him. He could be a serious challenger, but the Richards fight will tell us more. Nice to see another all-British fight, irrespective.
Aa a footnote, I also suggested a while back that Kell Brook would KO Khan but should then retire as there were no fights to be made that weren't space-fillers or unwinnable. I'm genuinely pleased to see he's hung up his gloves and leaves the game healthy. It's the right call and he retires head held high and with a nice few quid in the bank. This makes me happy.
Lastly, Oliveira! Great fight champ, but missing weight and getting stripped is just plain stupid. That said, it was nice to see him shut up the motormouth that is Justin Gaethje. Who's the quitter now Justin? After weeks of calling Oilveira a quitter, there was some schadenfreude in seeing him totally outthought and outfought before quitting the fight himself. That's karma.

Ashley: So what's the latest on my bid then. Those Bamfords at Quantuma still haven't called me...
Accountant: Yours is still the lowest offer Mike
Ashley: Yeah but I've got £50 mill in the bank
Accountant: So do other parties though Mike and the bid stands at £54 million
Ashley: Do they not know who I am?
Accountant: I'm pretty certain they do Mike. Maybe that's the issue...
Ashley: I'm Mike f****** Ashley and I vom where I want...
Accountant: Indeed you do Mike. What are my instructions then?
Ashley: To buy me Derby f****** County you thick t*** and sharpish...
Accountant: As I said Mike, you'll need to increase your offer...
Ashley: Yeah, yeah, I heard you. I'm fat, not stupid! Tell them they can have £51 million and I won't charge myself rent for 10 years. And tell them I'll let them call the stadium the Super Duper Mike Ashley Sports Direct Stadium of Awesome Dreams. Nice ring to it, that! Oh, and no charge for the stadium re-brand but only if they sign today. (Wanders off chanting) One Mike Ashley, there's only one Mike Ashley, one Mike Aaaaaaassshleeyy....

    I'm 43 years old.
Worked in accountancy since the age of 17, was an auditor for about 10 of them years.
Moved out of accountancy practice and into industry where I have been for the last 10 years.
My knowledge of auditing has obviously waned in that time but I definitely still know the difference between a debtor and a creditor!

And not at aimed at you at all but to get it all out my system everyone who keeps suggesting that Q are on time and a half or double time at weekends - I have never known an accountant who gets time and a half or double time especially partners who often dont get time off in lieu either. Finally it is never "the HMRC" its just "HMRC" always. There feel better now. Thank you alram for the opportunity

I think @G STAR RAM and @alram should find a pub car park conveniently near to both parties and sell tickets for a straightener which would be infinitely more interesting then the dour, pedantic tit for tat argument they're currently embroiled in.
Think the likelihood of this happening is about zero as they probably wouldn't even be able to agree to the location of the tear up.

I've met a lot of accountants in my job, and work directly with them including auditors
I haven't met one under 25 that actually knows what they are talking about in the real world, they've done a few trial balances and passed a couple of courses and think they are knowledgeable accountants ?
Just an end note, I don't know enough about Derby's accounts to argue with any of you about who is right or wrong, so I'm not calling anyone out unless you're an accountant under 25 ?

'Not smart' in that way (allegedly provoking Gibson) doesn't mean not good overall - we were playing well and in with a chance of survival....was Rooney supposed to publicly bemoan our fate and say 'We're ducked', like Paul Jewell did?
Wayne's spirit of defiance transferred to players and fans.
IMHO, the EFL wanted 'assured relegation' anyway and engineered the January player exodus / sustained embargo, this after blocking Q from naming a PB when EFL cronies doggedly elected to ignore the issue of parasite creditor status, nixing any takeover.
So after the EFL spun out the calendar, they now finally realise it's 11.59 pm, and decide to intervene. Bucket-load of shyte.

    Some good advice on here
Like some have mentioned, keep on top of services coming to the end of contracts. I didn't realise I'd been out of contract on my BT phone/TV/Internet, had been paying £50 plus for a TV box I didn't use as I have a firestick and add ons, plus the Internet (albeit fast) was overkill. Changed over to Now for the Internet at £20 a month. Not a massive change but helps offset the increase of gas/elec from £90 to £200 plus.

Some have mentioned WFH tax relief, uniforms etc which are good. If you are in a relationship and one of you doesn't use your full personal allowance (stay at home parent for example), 10% or so of your allowance can be transferred to the one working and saves a little tax.

I'm also a payroll manager in my day to day work, so I'm happy to offer any help (free) if anyone doesn't understand their pay, thinks something is wrong etc. Employers tend to get pay correct but HMRC are probably the most incompetent organisation I've ever had to deal with, they regularly make mistakes with employee tax codes especially where benefits are involved. Always check things like your tax code and if it isn't the standard 1257L cumulative, then you should always make sure you know how or why it's changed.

Finally... We have a spreadsheet as a household, which lists all our spending, and means you can budget going forward. If you get everything down, and keep an eye over what's coming up, it's useful to stop any unexpected costs arising (forgetting car MOT for example). You'll not remember all costs straight away but as you build up a history and update the budget going forward. As part of that we also have little pots of savings like Xmas fund, holiday fund etc, so we might have x amount in the savings account but the spreadsheet will explain what that is made up of. It all sounds very boring to most people but if you can budget so things like Xmas don't bite you, it can help you get into financial trouble if you then have to borrow. Me personally, I am awful with money, I used to spend whatever was in my account and panic the next payday when I had annual costs I'd forgotten about. If you are geeky like me, it's also nice to see what the future could look like if you do A B or C. It can also highlight areas you Re spending a lot as well. Food shopping was a big one for us, as I'd just go to the shops and spend £50 on a visit outside of the main shop, just buying crap I thought I needed. Now we have a budget each month, I know I have x amount per week or so and can see if I am going close to it or not and make adjustments.

The only one I've heard suggested is, should they ever get them to work properly, it would be possible to charge different rates at different times of the day. So if you were short of money you might decide to have your dinner at a less 'peak' time of the day, say 1:00am?
