Grimbeard got a reaction from I know nothing in Summer transfer suggestion thread
Midfielder? Who does he play for?

Probably disapproves of fizzy water too. The only man that could make Starmer look like an exciting alternative.

Just imagine a Keith Starmer party.
Okay so I’ve brought the Tizer. Who’s got the paper cups?
Don’t worry, we’ll settle up at the end.

Real Madrid won the champions league yesterday with 34 year old Toni Kroos and 38 year old Luka Modric both playing in the match.
Man City won the premier league with 34 year old Kyle Walker and 32 year old Kevin De Bruyne being key players.
Leicester won the championship with 37 year old Jamie Vardy playing up front.
Portsmouth won league one with 33 year old Marlon Pack playing a key role in midfield.
Those are just some examples for you. It’s an inaccurate generalisation that players over 30 in the modern game can’t play at a good level, especially given the sports science, conditioning, diets and squad depth involved.
For me there's no issue with us signing or having players over 30, the key will be having a balanced squad with some younger players around them.

Nora........ have you been on @londonbridgeram's course on "how to post each thought I have individually on a forum"?

We literally don't have a striker and barely a midfielder.

Was he dreadful for us?, really?. The 21 points got us relegated. We'd have been around 17th wih those points back. We had no budget for players too. He put his hand in his own pocket a few times as I recall.
Whatever you may think of him, imo he conducted himself superbly under diabolical circumstances. Remember he's worth over £170 mill, he could have just walked away that season but he didn't.
I have nothing but respect for him for that reason and I hope he does well at plymouth.

Not sure how Australia use Souttar but he’s scored 11 goals in 29 caps. A 6 foot 7 goal scoring centre back that lives in the East Midlands, sounds like Warne made him in a lab.

Why are you here? Wouldn't you be happier watching wrestling or something?

Grimbeard reacted to Gee SCREAMER !! in Transfer rumours
Derby took a chance on him when he was a youngster as he failed a medical due to bone density issue and other clubs immediately withdrew interest. They then supported him through his altercation in Dublin scenario. He rewarded Derby by saying he couldn't wait for Burnley to increase their offer to get a a move, slagged us off when the Keogh situation was ongoing and sent out a thumbs up social media post when he was on loan at QPR and we got relegated when they beat us. His 10 man goal doesn't cover that lot. Hope he winds up on the bench at Forest Green .

Fornah - Sierra Leone
Hourihane - Rep. of Ireland
Elder - Australia
Forsyth - Scotland
Collins - Rep. of Ireland
Adams - Gambia
Mendez-Laing - Guatemala
Nyambe - Namibia
There's probably more that I've missed, but how could a self-professed football expert not know that on occasions as recently as a few months back, more than half of our starting 11 were current, or ex-internationals?
I know Mexico has it's issues, but surely a 25 year internet outage isn't one of them!

I now ignore historical achievements, matchday attendances, size of the wider fanbase and overall potential.
My true judgement on what constitutes a big club is whether Mexican Football Monthly magazine has mentioned the club in the last year or so.

Can we stop going on about bloody Villareal yet?

Why is their global reputation far higher.? We have actually won trophies as well. We're not Real Madrid by any means but their only domestic trophy was winning the 4th division. We've never even dropped that low, they spent 40 years there. I think i'm out of this one.

Hate to be the one to tell you this but that's not how you play padel.
Word to the wise; if your 'friend' utters the words, 'it's good for your skin', he's lying about that too.

Our sqaud is too thin before we let players go on a free or on the cheap. I think Sonny could do a job in the championship and we may need his physicality in the air.

I'm going to look at our history of loan players from Spurs who were highly regarded and going to be pushing to be part of their first team squad............
Thats a negative Houston

Well there you go then...that more than befits the multimillion investment of his entire fortune to revive the club.

Grimbeard reacted to CapeTownRams in Lionel Pickering
One thing that consistently irritates me is how little fans talk of Lionel Pickering. Folks often talk about the great Jim Smith years (really our last glorious period) but they would never have happened without Lionel.
We also forget that Pride Park was also Lionel’s dream and vision - and he paid a good chunk of his own money to make it happen. In fact one really has to wonder why it wasn’t and isn’t called the Lionel Pickering Stadium.
Lionel in many ways reminds me of David Clowes albeit the latter is a more business-headed person. Lionel was a lovely man- maybe a bit gullible when he listened to everyone throwing their own advice and opinion in his ear at the pub……but a real Rams man.
Crikey, if there was one person who deserves a statue at Pride Park then it’s him.
(I would also like David Clowes to have the Club build a museum at the ground).
