Doesn’t the shower water dilute the beer?!

Tonight’s beer is Raw Anubis Porter. It has a bitter edge, and then a round, smooth body. Don’t know what I’m talking about because I’ve been drinking it all night with Ardbeg chasers. Goes very well indeed with lime and chilli chocolate.

Yes, many times. It’s good quality, plentiful, standard pub fare, with the emphasis on filling you up, rather than haute cuisine. They serve all day, which is an advantage if you’re walking and don’t want to be bound by usual meal times. It’s a good local, fun and friendly. If you want something posher, but pricier, try the Greyhound.
The Barley at Kirk Ireton is one of those, experience it before it changes, places. It’s been the same landlady for at least 35 years that I know of. Numerous other great pubs in the area, Barley at Bonsall, Flying Childers at Stanton, Druid at Birchover, Nelson at Middleton etc etc. I’m now a devotee of the Royal Oak in Wirksworth, where Burton Bridge is still £3 a pint.

Out of interest did you ever have the food there? I’d only ever been in there before going to the tapas place so I’ve only ever been in for a quick pint (and sit by the fire on a cold winter night), but it always looked decent and the eating area is always packed. Was getting quite tempted with the carvery today!
I think the bitter is nice for one, on a country walk or summit. I grew up in north Derbyshire and happily driven out to different pubs across the region (the locals our way are a bit uninteresting and tourist-y so its better to drive out somewhere different for one than sit in the same pub paying £4 plus for rubbish)but I’ve never been to the Barley Mow. In fact aside The Knockerdown I don’t think I’ve been to many Ashbourne way at all. I know people love it there though, I should probably address this haha

Just been to The Boat Inn in Cromford (a lovely little pub off the beaten track if you are in the area) and had a pint of the Hartington brewery’s IPA. I’ve only ever had the bitter before which is nice but I could have happily drank that all afternoon.

Unsupportive children.
So I impulse bought the Russia 2018 Panini album and presented it to my 7 year old boy who explained to me (again) that he doesnt like football. I was expecting that reaction anyway so I excitedly dug into my stickers only to find De Bruyne in the first pack! While I was searching for #522 in the book my 2 year old daughter decided that my best player was her 'new baby' and now Kevin lives in her dolls cot with the freaky twins and one armed Steven.

Adverts, for anything ever.
I refuse on principle to buy or use any product or service which has been shoved in my face.

I must sleep like a copse, based on the ever-present wood when I wake up.

Had the same decision a few years ago, whilst investigating the memory foam mattresses that where good where in the 1000's, so one option suggested was get a good spring mattress and buy a good memory foam cover for it, so opted for that and sleep like a corpse.

Thanks, I have heard people say they can be too hot, but not the rolling into the middle thing. I’ve always invented in decent pocket sprung mattresses and never had a problem, so might as well stick with that.

Mrs Wolfie used to have one when we got together & I hated it because you sink into them a bit and, while that gives some support, it just made me overheat constantly & wake up sweating. Much prefer a decent sprung mattress.

You always find yourself rolling into the middle or if your partner is lighter than you, they are always rolling over your side..
Mrs Angry is 8 stone, I'm a little heavier. She has 3/4 of the bed and I am squeezed into whats left with her breathing all over me. Not nice.
With springs that does not happen.
