  1. I'm watching Schitt's Creek again but this time while at the gym. I can normally get away with a few chuckles without raising too many eyebrows but last night was the one with this bit in it... Laughter from me and strange looks all round
  2. Stumbled across Professor T on ITVX last night & enjoyed the first 2 episodes. I do like Ben Miller.
  3. Reading 0-2 Derby frgs: Collins
  4. I've decided to stick with it & do enjoy it - as long as I skip the pointless challenges. I don't think Paul will last til the end. They've started to work out that it's the popular & "leader" ones being killed off - so why is Paul still in?. Logic dictates he must be the one murdering the others.
  5. ITK Moor Farm earlier
  6. Agreed but to me it just comes back to the issue on the other thread as well about shambolic public procurement. Who drew up these terrible one sided contracts in the first place?. You can't blame any organisation for operating according to the contract they've signed with DfT or Treasury or whoever. If it's the case that the contracts have got to be that attractive in order to attract bidders, then that surely must say something about whether the private sector should be involved in the first place - or at least it shows that there's very little or no competition between prospective train operators who want to operate the services.
  7. It's public sector procurement from central government right down to local councils that's just awful - as demonstrated by the post office / Fujitsu scandal as well.
  8. It's all very murky isn't it. Not to get political but the government reduces council funding and then loans them billions instead for them to invest in commercial ventures. I can see that it definitely has benefits (if things go well) because on the govt's finances, it'll be listed as an asset rather than as increased government spending liability and the councils have (hopefully appreciating) commercial assets they earn an income from. Sounds like a win-win. Until you realise that those making the investment decisions at the council probably don't have the skills to make those judgements.
  9. What is the SKY presenter on about?! According to her Burton got a point and Peterboros goal difference is better than ours.
  10. Just in time for the annual winter slump
  11. Indeed it does, having just listened to it this lunchtime.
  12. Basically, Fujitsu were the cheapest bidder for the PO contract to develop the IT system. They then realised that it was a far bigger job than they thought, and tried to adapt a previous system they'd got - which was originally used for something else. The new bits of programming (technical term) didn't match precisely with the older bits and numbers went missing because there was nowhere for them to go. And then the PO lies began........
  13. For anyone (including me) who isn't sure of the backstory of this, theres a really good summary in the first half of this week's The Rest Is Politics podcast (episode 208). Fantastic podcast generally as well. @richinspain
  14. Until the next "halving" at least
