  1. When Mrs Wolfie had been living with me for a few months, we decided to have a couple of friends round and I did a big swiss cheese fondue. We had a lot of cheese late into the evening. That night, I was woken at about 2am by her fully dressed and in the middle of packing her bags. She was semi-awake and convinced that she had to move out there & then. She couldn't give me any reason, just that she hed to do it. It took me about half an hour to talk her down and convince her to get back into bed. That was 13 years ago and it remains the only time anything like this happened - and the only time we've ever had a fondue.
  2. Not posting offensive twadlle like this might be a start... "my heart sank when I saw the team sheet, because like a bad smell, Bradley was back in. My only surprise was that Warne's other boyfriend Hourihane wasn't starting"
  3. Yes, it's shame to see that Middlesborough are going to miss out on the playoffs. Again.
  4. So bad that my daughter learnt a new swear word.
  5. I think Truss is selling herself short here. I don't recall Brian Clough ever opening up new pork markets.
  6. Derby 2-0 Leyton O FRGS: Collins
  7. Anypne have any advice please....: I normally go to the match with relatives who have a parking season ticket (Car Park B - Arena) but I'm taking Miss Wolfie to the Orient game and so need to drive seperately and pre-pay to park in the same car park as them. I stupidly paid the parking on the MiPermit app on Sunday just gone without first signing into my account, so I don't have any email confirmation or live booking showing on the app. Will they know on the entrance that my car registration has been used for a booking?. Otherwise all I have is a £10 transaction on my credit card app that I can show them. I sent a message on the MiPermit website but I'm not confident of getting an answer. Thanks!
  8. The Love Punch (Netflix) Home alone last night and after a stressful day at work, I needed something light. Good choice - it doesn't get much more lightweight and fluffy than this. Pierce Brosnan's company is taken over and sucked dry of cash (and pension funds), so he and his ex wife (Emma Thompson) seek revenge on the owner of the new parent company in Paris, aided by friends played by Timothy Spall and Celia Imrie. Pretty much every rom-com box is then ticked off. Entirely predictable and not particularly Rom or Com but still a 6/10, due to it being the film I needed at the time, with some of my favourtie UK (comic) actors - Thompson and Imrie.
  9. And did it?. I've been waiting soooooo long for someone to tell me for sure
  10. Yes, I found that really effective as well. I've only seen Sandra Hueller in a couple of things but she's a fantastic actor.
  11. I Came By - Netflix I'd only ever seen Hugh Boneville in light, fluffy, funny stuff (Downtown Abbey/Paddington/W1A), so it was odd to see him acting sinister in this thriller about a young grafitti artist who breaks into a retired judge's house, to find something nasty lurking in the basement. Entertaining and with a not so subtle comment on the untouchable & powerful elite. I found the protagonist really annoying, which took me out of it a bit - to begin with (no spoilers). Boneville was excellent and the best thing about the film, by far. Not bad 6/10
  12. Nah it’s basically flavoured plastic. It just goes through you.
  13. This is bigger news, to be fair.
  14. Word of caution about jumping in & doing too much straight away... During first Covid lockdown I thought it's be a good idea to do start doing those daily Joe Wicks youtube workouts with miss Wolfie. Day 1..... Joined late, so missed any warm up (if there was one). First 10 minutes of squats after not doing leg excercise for a good while. Had to stop. Legs on fire for the next 2 days & struggles with stairs. Never did it again. Start slow & easy people & gradually build up!
  15. I would add that the days when I really haven't felt like excercising after work are usually the ones I feel the most benefit. I distinctly remember once going to the gym after a hard day at work. I'd driven there, got changed, put my stuff in the locker etc and I was stood by the gym door, arguing with myself as to whether or not I should just turn round, get changed back again and go home. I eventually decided to give the gym a few minutes and see how I felt. An hour later I was buzzing more than I ever had before, after doing a great session. You do sometimes have to really push yourself but in my experience, it always feels better afterwards.
  16. For me, the key thing is to get into the regular habit / routine of excercising. That way, I plan the rest of my week around it. I'd never really done much as an adult (other than always enjoyed walking) until I split up with my first wife and started going to the gym to give me something to do in the long winter evenings. That was 14 years ago and I've been going to the gym 3 times most weeks ever since. 2 x weekday evenings and 1 x weekend I'm not super fit and don't aspire to be, but I enjoy food and regular excercise means I don't really have to worry about what I'm eating. Plus the mental health benfits shouldn't be under-estimated. My routine is usually 35-40 minutes cardio (cross-trainer on fairly high resistance). 20 mins or so of weights (machine) - chest & shoulders mainly. I've always had quite big legs from cycling a lot as a youngster, so don't have to worry about skipping leg day!. Then usually 10 minutes steam room and a few lengths swimming to finish off (and cool down). I average about 11,000 steps a day, to help as well. I have a desk job but make sure I go for a walk at lunchtime or evening, to get them in.
  17. It wasn't even a yellow, though. So was very lucky.
  18. Agree with all that. I enjoyed it more than Mrs Wolfie did, though she really doesn't like subtitles.
