They simply wouldn't.  He's 5ft 10 with no pace. He absolutely will never be a 5m centre back. Ever. What you lack in certain areas you make up for elsewhere.
He doesn't have the basics to be a big sale. Other clubs make money because those players are simply better.

    Oxford fan coming in peace.
This thread has been quite some read and you are rightly concerned that you’ve lost to lowly Oxford. But, let me try and calm your concerns and correct some comments.
Yes, we finished 2 points clear of relegation and as one of your contributors said we’d only won 3 games in 7 months. But to put that into perspective, we had Karl Robinson as our “manager” last season until he was sacked. After 5 seasons we eventually got rid of  him. He had some good games, we got to the playoff final and lost to Wycombe, perhaps the least deserving team to get promoted, their brand of footy was truly awful. The following season we lost in the playoff semifinal to Blackpool, we got thumped at home, game over. We then followed that with 8th.
He got the sack after picking up 1 point in 24, the board should’ve acted sooner because he had his mind on other things. His marriage had collapsed, but if you shag the women’s team captain what do you expect. His signings, were a disaster. He gave contract extensions to injured players. Signed players with known mental health issues, signed more crocks and brought in square pegs for round holes. He also signed big Sam’s grandson, not on merit.  His post match comments were those of a scouce smack-head who’d just found a bottle of LSD.  We’d watched United get annihilated and he’d be talking about Brazil, the rainforest and samba bands.
In came Liam Manning and Chris Hogg… who?  Manning got MK into the L1 playoffs which they lost and got the push from MK after a bad run.
He came in and picked up 11 points to keep us up, instilling some grit and professionalism.
During the close season, he’s brought in 8 new players, some of whom we have been shocked we’d signed. Ruben Rodrigues from Notts Country, Mark Harris from Cardiff, on loan Stan Mills from Everton and James Beadle from Brighton.
We had PSF against Swansea 2-2 then beat QPR 5-0.
First game of the season was a 2-0 away defeat to Cambridge and our forum was similar to this thread. However a 1-0 win against Carlisle and last night has completely changed the outlook. As many people say, give it 10 games, then start judging. New players in, old ones out, injured players back etc.
I can understand your pain, but I think we’ll be top 10 this year, we are playing free flowing footy. You are hamstrung by past crimes and until you can spend you’ll be stuck in this league, but once sanctions are lifted, 25,000 customers is going to give you plenty of buying power.
Good luck for the season, especially against, Wigan, Reading and Bolton.

Slept on it thoughts... and I'm afraid it's no better.
I have always had faith in Warne. His interviews can be odd, but on the whole, they're refreshing and honest. But what actually happens isn't what he preaches. Pressing? Nope. Need pace? Don't sign any. Energy and intensity? Never heard of it. Get in behind? How?
The whole team does not function at all in it's current guise with the severe lack of pace and athleticism. I struggle to see what we can change without Warne accepting he's going to have to play inexperienced players, or we have to sign players - fast.
Starting at the back, Bradley is not that guy. He's slow, he's tentative, he doesn't attack the ball, there's nothing authoritative about him. Cashin doesn't look like the player we've seen before. Hourihane can't move with the ball, he's basically only on the pitch for set pieces. Korey Smith is anonymous and is glacially slow. Bird isn't an attacking midfielder. NML is a wide player. Collins doesn't jump for anything and it would be unkind to call him a carthorse.
Ward was a slight bright spot to the season, now injured. Wilson looks ok, albeit needs to get his head up a bit, but has no options on because there's no movement. Washington looks ok, but that's simply because he moves... crazy that that's all it takes.
Rooney, Robinson, Thompson, Bardell, Brown, Radcliffe... should all be wanting time on this pitch because the ability to be able to move is the only requirement to be able to improve the mess we are currently chucking out.

And that has been the issue for quite a while. If he doesn’t genuinely see where the problems are he cannot course correct. A lot of us see it and he and his team appears not.

I noted that a long time back and I feel the management team rode their luck in a few instances last year. They are too slow to counteract opposition strategy and at times do not even recognise it is occurring. The lack of movement now  and basic triangulations certainly worry me as it is a basic part of modern football and many times this evening, we could not overlap as the strategy and structure had not even planned for it.
Our ex goalkeeping coach nailed it on RDerby, when he said after 26 minutes it needed changing. I’m behind the technical area on the West Stand  and have been for over ten years and folks were shouting to the management about movement, shape, desire, press and playing to feet. What we got was deafears  - I personally feel that they are like deer in headlights, it’s all too much and they are now blinded by the challenge. Hopefully not too pig-headed.
I have genuinely wanted this management group to be successful  but the bravado is too much, we need tactics not jokes, we need polish not placating, and we need serious tactical, structured, strategic football and not Sunday morning hoofball .

PW and his team can make this work but ego and big boy humour has to be diluted and professionalism has go to come to the fore, this is not the division that it was a few years ago but one that has been reshaped by too many would be prem dropouts. Time for PW and his team to grow some bits below as they’re out their comfort zone now.

I just hope they can try to listen, and although we aren’t pros some of us have been watching, what we can seriously remember, of DCFC and football for over 60 years now, so actually we have seen this a bit too frequently.
I seriously wish good luck to PW and colleagues but do hope they start to become humble and learn, as now is the time.

if our only attacking plan is to just run down the line and hoof it in over and over, having forsyth and cashin at CB won't get us out this division

you can have all the energy you want in the centre, but the tactics are clearly to get the ball out wide, run down the line, and hoof it into the box. repeat over and over again until something happens. Thats it.

i absolutely depise this league, i cant believe people thought it would be easy and nice to win some games or nice to see go to some new grounds ( most of them absolutely terrible)

the league is terrible and the worst bit is we belong here because we are terrible as well. the way oxfords second goal just played through us is utterly embarrasing we made them look like barcelona.

we have no direction as a club, it was all so predictable after watching our movement all summer you could spot it coming from a mile off. going to be a long season

A bit disjointed perhaps but on the plus side we're off the mark and both Collins and Washington have scored their first of the season 2 games in so that should give them a big confidence boost.
