GboroRam reacted to Elwood P Dowd in New joke thread (trigger alert, may offend if you want it to)
A forest fan walks into a travel agent and asks “Can you recommend any mini breaks?”
The Travel agent replies “Well you can’t beat Blackpool this time of year”

"Ukrainian conscription" is a bit of a myth. Reservists were called up just before Russia invaded, and the military has tried to coerce men into joining up in some areas, but there doesn't appear to be any effective follow-up system, unlike, say, the US system used for Vietnam.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jul/06/ukraines-military-plans-to-limit-free-movement-to-make-conscription-easier
Russian conscription, on the other hand, is far more systematic and increasingly broader, though it still seems to be focused on the poorer regions and the sons of the elite are still able to dodge the draft apparently.
It's just another example of how Ukraine is defending itself at a disadvantage.

It's difficult to have a conversation about coronavirus without discussing how your government has handled public safety. It's hard to discuss government policy without it becoming political. Where the line is, that's going to be different for every reader. What's fair comment to one is a witch hunt to another.
To be honest, despite the accusations of bias in favour of the left, you only have to look at who the top posters are to question that.
Since the thread turned into a void for angry people to yell into, its lost all relevance and most people have moved on to less tiresome topics.

I think it would get even worse if we started debating what effect the mRNA vaccines are having on the immune system....

You don't even stand up for your own rights, instead you complain about people having it easier than you.

Think the idea of a union chief is to promote the needs of your membership, not call slag them all off as work-shy grifters mate ?

Bit incongruous that self-acclaimed working class heroes, having achieved a degree of financial comfort, are so quick to decry the needs and rights of... well, the working classes. The issue here, to my way of thinking, is that once again, the needs of the many are being coloured by the abuses perpetrated by the few. I've argued in the past that the same is true of the welfare state, but inevitably, entrenched opinions remain just so and as such, I no longer bother. That said, while some sit and take pot shots at those massive 'perks' enjoyed by nurses, postal workers et al, they seem remarkably indifferent to the 7/8 figure bonuses handed out annually to private sector City workers, on top of their share options, final salary pensions and the raft of other add-on's they enjoy.

The unions haven't been infiltrated by politicians - Labour is the party of the unions. It was created by them, if anything Labour has been infiltrated by people trying to change the party's purpose.
