We have been absolutely brilliant this season given that we were hamstrung by the transfer embargo.
Even our detractors have to admit to a certain grudging admiration.
Reading's win today has opened up a yawning chasm and, whilst they had a mere six point deficit to overcome, 21 points was an almost impossible number.
I feel we have reached Remagen (a Bridge too Far) with no blame attached to Rooney Rams or fans all of whom have shown loyalty and resilience above and beyond the call of duty.
I for one, salute each and every one of you!

Point of information - A Bridge Too Far was Arnhem in autumn 1944, Remagen was on the Rhine in March 1945.
I called it a month ago wanting to be wrong.  Unfortunately I wasn't.
In the end we just didn't have enough in the tank to get the results we needed, and Reading on present form are more or less there.
Fight on until it's mathematically finished, then after that give "the kids" some playing time ready for next season.  They'll need it.  46 League 1 games, Carabao Cup, FA Cup 1st round, could be 50-60 games altogether with a couple of cup runs.  Playing the likes of Fleetwood rather than the likes of Sheff Utd.
    The only way is up!

Genuinely saddened tonight. Feels like we've finally run out of steam, though I still can't give up just yet. I guess it's not in my nature. Sad to see some fans turning on the players and coaches too. Completely understand that folk are frustrated as for half an hour we looked like we might just defy logic yet again, but I hope when we all reflect on this with calmer heads, we'll remember where the blame for our situation really lies. I don't read too much into folk venting a little in all honesty and for the little it's worth, I don't think others should either. It would sadden me far more if small cracks in the unity we've shown in recent months were to widen into fissures. I think we're better than that. I really do. We might be an occasionally dysfunctional family, but a family is exactly what we are and I hope that never changes.
I also think that obvious frustrations aside, we've shown to all and sundry that we're a seriously staunch lot. This season serves as ample proof of that fact and countless neutrals have acknowledged as much. God knows we've been put though the wringer these last 2 to 3 years and by and large, we've still managed to find some humour in the grimmest of grim situations that following a team can throw up. I'm proud of that. The relentless support from the stands, I think it's fair to say, has been the envy of the League. In so much, along with the battered and bruised squad and the beleaguered coaching team, we've earned the right to hold our heads up high no matter what the outcome. Compare and contrast Rams fans with their Blackburn counterparts and I challenge anyone to tell you otherwise. We might be L1 or worse next season as a team, but as a fanbase, we're strictly Premier League and no ducker's ever going to take that away from us.

    Open letter to the EFL.
Please could you increase our points deduction to 36 with the proviso that we start next season on zero points in League One.
We might then be in a position to play football on a level field without having to play each game on a slope of 45 degrees with a force nine gale constantly in our faces.
Being able to buy and sell an occasional player may also make us more attractive to a potential buyer but we appreciate that we should not ask for too much in the name of fair and equiitable treatment.
    Respectfully Yours

The main problem was the signings, too many average players on big wages, when we realised they were not goid enough, we had trouble moving tgem on, becausw nobody would pay thier rediculous wage demands.
How much was wasted sacking managers, Rusk and Keogh et al.  Only one person to blame and he's walked away.
Liquidation us inevitable and hopefully allow us to start again at the bottom of League 2 after ashley buys the stadium...

In the last half century we have won the League ChampionshipTWICE!
    European Cup semi finalists.
Won two sponsored trophies (Watney and Texaco)
    Been massively etertaining (usually!)
Kept a huge and loyal fanbase.
Brought cheer to an otherwise gloomy outlook to thousands in Derbyshire.
So how can we even imagine a Derbyshire with no Derby County?
