The problem with Rams fans is that they want a 20 year old England International striker with 10 years Premier league experience, on a free transfer, who gets 20 goals per season and will play for 30 bob a week. If not they are a pile of crap.

“Proved beyond doubt” ??‍♂️ a few mins in the pre-season friendlies so far, played less that one half so far tonight in a cobbled together team in which it seems none of them are really playing well, scored as many goals and provided as many assists in preseason as our recent striking recruit but yeah we should definitely write him off at this point ?
He’s a young player, learning the game, is one of our few contracted players in a limited squad and our recruitment options are severely restricted, what about waiting to see if and how he’s contributed after a few of the league games before we end the lad’s career?

    Suppose it depends if we're playing with 2 #4s and a #10, or a #4 and 2 #8s.
McGoldrick and Sibley rotating as the #10 gives us 2 solid players with very different traits.
Bird does need to be in the team somewhere... the fact we're having these discussions already suggests our recruitment so far has been very good. From 3 contracted players to arguing over who's best to start in midfield in the space of a few weeks!

This is a reset & in the circumstances I'm very happy with the recruitment.
It's for David Clowes to formulate a plan for future times, which is what he said he would do.
Whilst not perfect, the playing squad is in a much more competitive position than I would have expected it to be
We have to live with the short term consequences of administration, it's just how it is & settle in for the ride.
Our next signings may not be playing staff, remember we lost coaches and analysts last year so they might be a priority. The modern way is to have people to study how the opponents set up etc & that team shouldn't be overlooked otherwise LR will be doing that as well as coaching & managing

@Oldben you keep driving this agenda against this suthis's recruitment. There are three main factors to consider.
    1. We had 3 and a bit weeks to get players signed up
    2. We can't pay any fees
    3. We can only offer 2 year deals at most.
These factors meant we were limited to free agents, who are typically over 30, injury prone, or very young and judged to not be good enough by their former club. Players younger than 30 are going to be looking for more than just 2 years, so cuts the options down further.
We still have 8 players aged 21 or below in our squad, amd likely to add a couple more in that age band before the window closes. We've signed experienced players for those 8 to learn off. We haven't had many 'streetwise' players in recent seasons, but now we have a lot - this cannot be understated in both developing our younger players and performances on the pitch.

Definitely, I'm the only one out of my group of season ticket holders that have renewed already. Probably around 20 of us. Everyone either waiting for direct debit or the wages to drop in.

There were a few posts on one of the Derby facebook pages from programme sellers saying they've been brought back in to sell programmes again. Fantastic news for sure as I know quite a few people were upset at losing a matchday staple. Hopefully the other things that were dropped will return eventually. Any staff that lost their jobs and haven't picked anything up will hopefully be reconsidered, Shane Nicholson for example on the coaching side and the youth staff that lost jobs.

Most likely our starting line-up is the same we started against Leicester. Personally, I would've liked to see us try three at the back in some friendly. Something like this:
                       Wildsmith
              Chester   Davies   Cashin
    NML    Bird  Knight  Hourihane   Barkhuizen
                   McGoldrick  Collins

Fortunately, I think I'm at 15 league games away for last season, so should be fine here. If not, the booking has free cancellations until the Tuesday midnight. Should know by then if I have tickets or not. Saying that, I've promised her a weekend away without saying it's a football weekend away so I'll be going regardless!

Knight’s been a victim of his own versatility and the continued recruitment strategies of the club. Lots of people observe he seems to be a Jack of all trades, master of none type but I wonder would he excel if he played consistently for us in central midfield? Bird, Hourihane and Knight as a three could be interesting, passing and control from Hourinane and Bird, energy and forward drive from Knight in a more box to box role. All three can press and tackle a bit, only thing they’d be giving up on some teams would be physical strength and maybe a bit of height, but if you can out run and out pass the majority of opposition midfields you’d probably get away with it.
Knight, as we know, has a good engine on him and can run and run, he’s also scored the odd goal. Give him time in a central midfield role, let him work on timing his runs into the box and I think he’d flourish. Sadly I don’t see that happening anytime soon, but I can dream.
    It’s not what Rosenior will pick but I’d like to see this as the lineup assuming there are no further additions other than Forsyth confirmed. I’m also aware Bielik probably won’t play;

Unless you’re in the first three or four priority groups I wouldn’t hold your breath and start to think about what attractions Fleetwood may have to offer for a Saturday afternoon. ?
