I don't think he performance was any different and not expecting Pirlo but the next stage for him is to play some slightly more ambitious passes. You can't always give the responsibility to someone else.

    Promising but not the Messiah

I like the way that he is always prepared to take responsibility for the ball in helping others out, and in having the confidence to beat a player. In his first three games I think he has looked the part already. To me he will always be a busy player who will not give the opposition a moments rest. I would think that the management team have told him to 'keep it simple' and he probably gets that message from the senior pros as well. It will be interesting to see whether he has the ability to see a telling pass forward and execute it. Maybe we will have to wait until we actually sign a couple of forwards who will give him that option at some  point. The same goes for others in our midfield as well, the options they have are either not there or so repetitive they are easily defended.

    He is very promising.

  2. In terms of our players getting bullied, I don't see any of our youngsters getting easily pushed around. My fear is the way that Byrne is easily brushed aside. I would start with Festy at right back. I would be very tempted you start with Thompson again, he looks a real irritation to play against and would be up for any challenge. Forsyth should play to counteract the threat of balls coming in from dead ball situations.

Yeah right. If you read the thread there's examples of the same thing happening to others, not camped on 'dangerous roundabouts'. I imagine watching people freeze to death in winter can be quite distracting though.

Homelessness is tragic, but they cannot allow people to camp on busy traffic islands creating danger to others. I doubt very much whether you know any background to this situation or what brought it about.
You could of course offer to let him camp in your garden. For all you know he may well be in a hostel now and being found a flat.

Well ran? Leicester have lost £90m in the last two years. How can they be well ran?

When the owner decides he no longer wants to keep paying that to keep the club running (because it will happen at some point), as ours now has, are they still well ran?

And winning the Premier league title, FA Cup, qualifying for Champions league, building a £100M training ground, paying ALL of their staff during the lockdown including part-time staff and getting them to work in the community. Preparing plans for a major increase in capacity. Attracting top signings and being able to move players on for significant fees. I think they are doing OK. ?

Leicester of course just continued to cheat and did very well out of it. Avoiding any points deductions.

A club now lorded as the plucky little underdog who made it big.

A truly detestable club. Their bin robbing fans refuse to acknowledge the complete cheating bastary employed in their rise from div 3.

I wouldn't say they are detestable. They are a well run club with superb owners and only did what any club would have done at the time.

In defence of Byrne, consider what he (and the left FB) is being asked to do. Push high, high up the pitch. Now that's ok if you have natural cover, but difficult if you have no cover (or 2 ageing CBs) and you're expected to get back and defend in the way a traditional right back would.

I think the role might be easier if the defending part of his game (which includes that sixth sense of positioning) was more natural than the attacking part, but it isn't, so he's he's naturally having to do the harder part of his game from a starting position that makes it even harder.

Yes he's not been in the same form as he was last season but he's been asked to do something very different that doesn't suit his natural abilities regards the defending element. He'd probably be better as a wing back but asking him to defend solidly from a starting position of running back towards his goal is a tough ask.

It certainly is a tough ask and the position requires far greater athleticism than it did a few years ago (he is very athletic). My own I suppose dissatisfaction with the performance of Byrne is purely from what I see as his lack of awareness of what is happening on his side, his slow reactions and him being vertically challenged is a problem for us against bigger more physical teams, as most seem to be in the Championship. I think we were more secure with Wisdom in that position despite his own occasional lapses.

This is the problem. How long before they pull the plug on WR and LR, just to say we tried something different. I’m not saying it’s right, but then again neither is watching the club slump to the lower leagues without doing something.

I think that getting the club sold /sorting out the debt and moving on is doing something. No matter who is in charge our defenders will still make stupid mistakes costing points. I don't think this is the time to be changing managers, it is players like Byrne etc. that need changing.

If they hadn't have been 2-0 up would they have been wasting as much time?

We've only ourselves to blame for our inept first half performance.

I'd be raging if we were 2-0 up then threw it away due to poor game management.

I agree, the fault does not sit with Blackburn who like any team 2 - 0 up will try and disrupt play. The only current way to reduce it is for the officials to stamp down on it as soon as it happens.

Moving forward, I think we should allow players to be treated while the game is going on, that alone will reduce players feigning injuries.

Got to admit, I thought your marks for Byrne, Bird, Shinnie, Knight and Lawrence were on the low side, but it's a game of opinions....

I thought it was generally an ok performance all round, but have seen better from them this season. Clearly the keeper had ‘one of those games’ which I think probably cost us two points. I do scratch my head at how Byrne is so highly rated by some. To me he is a defensive liability with his sleepy moments and lack of physical strength (both were apparent with their first goal).
    onwards and upwards though.
