That's actually a rather good point.  i was just playing devil's advocate, as i perceived a flaw in some of the points mentioned.  If there is a court case, i hope Keogh loses it, he has not shown repentance or acceptance of doing wrong and deserves nothing at this point IMO.

quite agree.  What was the impact of throwing up, what was the impact for going awol for 45 mins?  Some appear to see it as their job to absolve RK from responsibility and blame everybody else, including DCFC.

I was one of Keoghs biggest fans and couldn't believe the stick this bloke has had to take over the years.
BUT, HE refused to go home when the majority of the players had sense to do so and kept on drinking.
HE, then got into a car where the driver was with him all night also drinking!! (what, you think Lawrence had 2 pints then went on J20's for the rest of the ducking night) FFS.
HE was offered a taxi and refused.
He was offered a reduced contract to stay at the club, HE REFUSED. The club have then every right to sack him through GM as he is unable to continue what he was contracted to do. If any one of us was on a fixed contract to do a job and we did something like this and wasn't able to continue working for 15 months do you really think your employers would even offer a new contract to you?.. NOT A CHANCE!!, you'd be sacked.
Trying to tie in Lawrence and Bennett doesn't work, yes they were stupid but even they had the brains to put the belt on. They have been charged to the full extent the law allows and punished by the club. They can still carry on what they are contracted to do, Keogh can't. All 3/4 were stupid, only Keogh was more stupid and it's cost him his job.
Folks trying to defend him, saying we don't know what happened, no we prob don't know the whole truth and on that basis how do you know Keogh wasn't pissing about in the back and caused Lawrence to crash??, it works both ways you know.

It's absolutely impossible to say what his breathalyser reading would be based on numerous factors.  6 pints would not equate to 91.
It depends on body type, blood absorption, time of consumption, type of drink, speed of intake of drink, other intakes such as water and food, medication such as anti inflammatory medicines or anti depressants, physiological condition. 
Absolutely loads of factors influence it.

I was 100% in the Keo protection society.  I hold him largely to blame for the after 8 event (if it was a sole occasion) and the subsequent unfortunate affects.  Having read through this I think there are many in a similar position to me

If he was so drunk he was no longer able to look after himself then I imagine it was still gross misconduct - the bloke was on £25-30k a WEEK ffs. He should have been more responsible to himself and the Club.

The club investigation will have established whether this was a one off event or not.

trouble is that he is not competent to do the job he is paid for and he was contributory to the reasons why

Sort of where I am.  Its the GM that shocks me.  Unless the club have completed a thorough investigation and the decision was made on more than a single event.  I wrote at the time that Mel would find it difficult seeing him everyday in physio realising he was paying big bucks for nothing.  The lack of public apology maybe reflecting a cocky attitude?  Tough but I for one won’t be launching a crowd funding effort to support him in his hour of need!  I am certainly sorry he has ended his career in this way but he clearly contributed to the problem

Okay. Just Keogh then. He sat around drinking and let his younger team-mates drink and drive. Who knows what peer pressure was involved and from who. But it was not the behaviour expected from the captain of Derby County FC.

OK, he could hardly walk, let alone kick the ball, but he went so far up in my estimation that day, I went straight out and bought every Rod Stewart Album I could find... in a sort of homage to him... sort of... a bit!

I don't think they do. He got offered the chance to stay on reduced terms, if he cared about the club as people were implying he would accept it. He's never publicly apologised for the night, and seemingly hasn't taken any responsibility for it. I don't know how Keogh is coming out of this positively.

I just think they're trying to make out it's a very black & white situation, when thanks to Percy's article everyone can see that it's anything but.
Hopefully we'll have a Mel soundbite/interview to placate the masses.
Just to reiterate, I think the club are 100% right to release him. And Keogh has been incredibly stupid/naive in turning the offer down.
