when this nutcase was unveiled as chairman they thought Christmas had come early, foreign investor, mega rich family (sold Natalie Jackson hook line and sinker)
they would be bank rolled to the premiership if you believed what they were saying having being fed some serious PR speil.
Mels got some things wrong, big time, but my god he's also got a lot right we still have a fantastic future with an academy that thanks to Mels money is the envy of many and a state of the art training ground to boot
it ain't rosy atm but big picture guys, big picture.
Just remember these idiots had heir own Mel Morris in Nigel Doherty (r.i.p) who bankrolled the club spectacularly until the cretins hounded him out of the club with abuse to him and his family.
Like Mel his managerial appointments weren't the best but I reckon if they could rewind time they'd do things rather differently.... So let's just be Careful what we wish for folks

Having seen Lingard start for England with Keane on the bench and Butland would have had he not been injured it got me thinking about our loan players over the McClaren period.
Arguably the two that left the least impression have gone on to recieve England call-ups. Then take into account Jeff's performances at the Euros despite being our third choice attacking midfielder. Makes you wonder just how far the rest of that crop could have gone in the right circumstances.
I've stated before that I thought McClaren's team would have flourished in the Prem; I honestly believe he'd have guided us to Europe. We were brilliant and that side will be appreciated in ten or so years time.
It's not too farfetched to imagine that had we been promoted under McClaren the potential pulling power could have seen a Derby team with Butland, Wisdom, Keane, George, Willberforce, Jeff, Ince, Ibe and Lingard all in it.
    What might have been…
    **** off Bobby Z.

It is weird to think that if he wasn't 'injury prone' he'd probably never ended up at Derby and would be a Premier League and England regular now.
The midfield of Hughes, Thorne and Hendrick, that took Brighton apart in the SF of the PO could have been the future for 10 years if we had beaten QPR at Wembley.  It was that good.

I think you've perfectly demonstrated we probably have three too many players for those forward roles. Particularly when you consider Russell, Ince and Anya can play right or left comfortably, that Blackman can play up front (and is probably better suited to it than the other three strikers) and that we have talented youngsters who can play these positions coming through . Not to mention that arguably none of the strikers you've listed are suited to play as a one up top due to they all have very limited link up play (Vydra is significantly better than Bent or Wilson at it and his energy makes up for it somewhat but it is still not ideal).

All those options and I'd still trim it down to just Martin, Russell, Vydra, Anya and Ince… one short for me.
We need a link-up winger still. Dawks ?
