I want two statues of Ebou for when we win the league. One of him with the trophy, one of him missing the most open goal in the history of football. I'm never having kids, but if I did every single one of them would be called Ebou.

    Massive confidence booster all around.
That was exactly the kind of football I wanted to see this season. Counter attack was excellent and that was the best overall midfield performance I've seen for years.
And the keeper, blimey he's going to be a quality player for us.

The key to this win I think was Adams and Ozoh in the double pivot.
If I am not mistaken, it's only the 2nd game they have played together. They will get better and better as there understanding grows.
Keeping these two boys fit will be the key to the season.
They allow everyone around them to play.

Let's be honest, we could have signed Mbappe but it wouldn't really matter if we've got 10 players camped out on our own 18 yard line for 65 out of 90 minutes.
Play the right football and provide the right service and the strikers we've got might start to look a bit more useful.

Not really, management is a dog eat dogs game and also the current managers previous record will also count and when not going well supporters will look to 3 relegations in 3 and think he’s not up to it. You can talk about Rotherham’s budget all day long and to a degree have a point but similar budget teams have stayed up in the championship.

theres no harm in admitting at league 1 warne is a god, his style works bar 1 or 2 teams it’s not a footballing or intelligent division. You can make mistakes and get away with it. There’s no essence of tactics in league 1 but I found myself watching games in league 1 where warne got tactically outdone with managers making decisions and he didn’t react.

unfortunately in the championship warne is a peasant. Managers are tactically astute and most teams play good football and can at times cut through you at will. You have to mix up play and I don’t see anything different in how we approach games. I can take being outplayed by certain teams in this division but mainly we got outplayed by teams in league 1 as well and waited for a set piece.

I’ll give him time but I have seen nothing to suggest he has the tactical nouse to with stand this league which is a million times better than league 1.

So pre-season actually was a good indicator of where we are after all, conceding another 4 goals. You have to be ready for game 1, not knowingly go into the first half dozen games undercooked. Cashin never going to be good enough at this level, nor Bradley, nor Tommo, Fornah, Barks.. I’d be tempted to,play Nelson and Nyambe at centre half with Fozz at LB, but 5 at the back is not the right answer. We need a keeper, left back, centre half, winger, striker rapidly. Waiting until end Sept not good enough.
Yes there will be a transition period as we get used to the pace and quality at a higher level. But there are too many big holes in the squad, tough to fill over one summer. Get the impression the coaching needs to be more classroom and ball, less cone and resistance band. We need to be more progressive and more comfortable when pressed in possession. No sign of coached development there, with all the emphasis apparently on miles in legs.
With season ticket sales, we can’t be far off the budgets of other clubs. Not clear why we can’t get the right players. We have all that lovely new Sky money, but as stated before that has already been bid out with players and agents wising up to the new money and asking for more. Same supply, additional demand, higher prices. Simple economics. Clowes needs to decide if he is prepared to compete at this level, whether he can afford it, whether Bhobats computer is just another complicating factor in recruitment (especially if it is always saying NO), or does he seek additional investment ? We’re all grateful for what he did, but time stands still for no man.

For me the academy doesn’t deliver. Bhobat could look at the kids in the academy, whack their stats into his computer, and it will tell him that very few have the physical attributes to be top players. Without new investment, and with PSR constraints (which I don’t believe are the real constraints at the moment), the only way forward is either the academy delivering a stream of Champ ready players, or taking a risk on transfer fees for younger players who could be sold on at a profit.
Lots of thinking to be done, and risks to be taken. If you don’t have risk, youre not in business.

Didn't want to get my hopes up, and realize that he's relatively unproven at Champ level, but for me starting the season without him was near-unthinkable. Very pleased to get this one over the line.

For me, Ebou Adams is *the* peak Warne signing.
Not in terms of on the pitch, as in his character. I really want him to succeed just because of his values, attitude and personality - and that's infectious. Must be a joy to have in the dressing room.

Ebou sums up what I want in a Derby player. A down to earth lad, good with the fans, runs his socks off, fights anyone and everyone on the pitch and wears the ram with pride. Plus he has one of those infectious personalities.
At least with Ebou and Osborn we have some bite and fight in the middle of the park.

I'm guessing we'll see a video of Warne and the coaches addressing the players about something, when they announce "and we've got someone we'd like you to meet". The door opens, in walks a grinning Ebou, and the players go wild.

Unsurprisingly I never really joined in with the "one voice" thing. It felt like a waste of energy in the face of the inevitable once a certain point was passed and I didn't really celebrate the goals against Fulham, the win against Sheffield Utd etc. The last minute Bielik equaliser against Birmingham was special (the occasion plus rallying against their Bamford fanbase)  but I think that's the last time I genuinely felt anything other than flat where Derby are concerned.
Life in general over the past few years seems to have killed any real enthusiasm I have for anything beyond an initial spell of enthusiasm. Music, football, beer, technology, whatever.
The Carlisle game last season even felt anticlimactic because of how routine it was. I did go onto the pitch and 'breathe it in' a bit but that was it in terms of celebration.
I didn't go to Friday's game against Matlock and the highlights haven't elicited any real feeling, I genuinely hope England lose tonight because I can't be arsed with the resultant wankfest in the coming months for an achievement that to me is only slightly greater than Derby's promotion. I've spent the past however long feeling mostly alien to the world around me and my supposed peers even though we're all supposed to have the same goal in mind.
    Yours, Mr Miseryguts.

Adams for £500k - £1 million makes perfect sense, in my opinion.
It’s the going rate for high performing players in League 1 and League 2. Adams has been a key player for two promotion winning sides in those divisions, so the track record is there to justify the outlay.
Personally I am taking it as a positive that we are spending money again. It’s a difficult balancing act between trying to be competitive and trying to be fiscally responsible, but I think we are trying to get it right.
Also, it’s still going to be on the modest side compared to the rest of the division, let’s not forget. Clubs further up the food chain and in receipt of parachute payments (Leeds, Burnley, Luton, Sheff Utd…) will likely be able to spend our entire budget on one player.
As for concerns over Adams’s ability to step up to the Championship, I think we have to remember he will have a specific job and role in the side and we will be looking to strike a balance and have players who complement each other and cover for each other’s weaknesses.
Are we expecting Adams to be a Championship version of Bernardo Silva or Kevin de Bruyne? No. Similarly, are we expecting Kenzo to be a Championship version of Amadou Onana? No.
If we let players do what they are good at rather than trying to overcomplicate it, why can’t Adams be a success at Championship level?
