Looks like Conor may be slipping further down the pecking order as the lad from Aberdeen Fraser Fyvie is having a medical.

Come on Sammom son, get yourself over to PP and find your goalscoring boots with us.

That guy is a midfielder though, not a striker.

Aaaahhhhh cack.

Cheers for that Dychee.

I should have read it in more detail and not just the "hot shot" bit. Especially as I get ever so narky when other posters get things wrong ;-)

He's better than the other options we have right now, and it really is as simple as that for me. He hasn't done it in the Premier League but he'd score goals in a Derby shirt - if he signs, 15 next season.

I'll put a fiver on it.

Is that a safer bet than Tyson not scoring all season?

No way he'd get 15. He's probably as good as Tyson! Nowhere near as good as Ward.

I think we should give this guy a break if he signs, we haven't got any players that has had a chance of premier league football and last time we was up there Sammon would of probably been our best player 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Would be willing to give the guy a chance, as I said anyone that had a good season last year - upfront... forget about it, not going to happen!

As a CF I'd take him over Ward any day of the week.

Ward is best out wide, or at a push playing in the hole.

Absolutely...

I've often wondered why people keep suggesting putting Ward back up front... currently he offers creativity and industry down the left and chips in with the odd goal (decentish return for a midfielder)... Think his record at previous clubs shows he's not a 15 goal a season forward either...

sorry to burst your bubbles

It would appear that Latics striker Conor Sammon is going nowhere despite speculation that he was all set for a loan move to Derby County (made here on Vital!), the big Irishman is all geared up for fighting for his place at the DW Stadium

In an exclusive interview with the Wigan Evening Post Sammon says "I`ve not heard anything about that" when asked about the move to Derby and the Latics striker confirmed his commitment to the team by saying: "As far as I`m concerned, I`m just totally focused on playing for Wigan, trying to break into the team, getting more starts and putting myself in contention.

"In the short term, my goals are to get my head down, get fit as quickly as possible, and trying to kick on."

Looks like Sammon is off the menu in Derby then...note to editor, check sources 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Still wouldn't rule it out... just suggests no official bid has been made...

And he hasn't come out and outright rejected a move or anything...
