McRamFan
I don't read the mirror. Usually the mirror put everything on there website Not on the website, had a good look. Its in the paper to fill 2 inches of what otherwise be another speculation about another team and another player. So far we have had 800k, over 1m, player plus cash, player rejects, derby reject offer..........in at least 4 papers.

randombc
I'd be tempted to sell at £1.6 million, we'd have doubled our money if it's believed we payed £800,000 for him. Money could be used to buy a quality striker and with the sale of Davies/Maguire the money could be used to buy a centre back and the money from Bailey/Addison/croft could be used for Jacobs. I completely agree we need a better striker and that Jacobs would be a decent purchase but selling (behind barker) arguably our best player is ridiculous! Whoneedshuls
I'd take 800k cash with Charlie Austin coming our way as part of the deal. The 800k could pay for Jacobs and mattocks wages!
vonwright
This kind of speculation will continue because the club didn't come out and say 'He's not for sale. It would have to be a ridiculous offer for us to even consider it.' Which is what they should have done, frankly. It's all very well sell off fringe squad members and even accepting over-the-odds bids for better players, but Shackell's a player to build a team around. The merest suggestion he's up for grabs sends out the wrong signals to the squad, the media, and other teams.

JacobDcfc
http://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/Rams-turn-second-bid-defender-Shackell/story-16322113-detail/story.html DERBY County have turned down another bid for defender Jason Shackell. The Rams rejected a £1m-plus offer last month and have now knocked back another approach for the centre-back. Jason Shackell Jason Shackell Both bids are understood to have come from Championship rivals Burnley. It appears Clarets boss Eddie Howe has stepped up his attempts to lure the 28-year-old to Turf Moor, with funds likely to be available from the imminent £7m sale of striker Jay Rodriguez to Southampton. But Derby chief executive Tom Glick says no offer has yet been near the Rams' valuation of the player. "We've knocked back another bid for Jason Shackell," said Glick. "We felt it was nowhere near where it would need to be for us to give it serious consideration." Reports from the North West have suggested Derby asked about taking Burnley striker Martin Paterson as part of a potential deal for Shackell but the Rams have dismissed this. Glick, meanwhile, says there has been interest in Shackell from more than one club. "We're not surprised about this as he had a great season for us and is a key player for us, in a key position," he added. Shackell, who joined Derby from Barnsley last summer, was ever-present in his first season at Pride Park and one of the team's most consistent performers. The 28-year-old also captained the side in the absence of skipper Shaun Barker, who will miss the whole of next season as he recovers from a serious knee injury. The Rams have stressed that they do not need to sell players this summer. However, manager Nigel Clough has said that he may consider cashing in on Shackell – at the right price – in order to strengthen other areas of his squad. Glick explained: "If a club was to come back with an increased valuation, we would take a look at it on its merit. "Then, if we felt it did meet out valuation of the player, we would only sell if we had a suitable replacement lined up." Elsewhere, talks are continuing between Derby and Sheffield Wednesday over the possible transfer of forward Chris Maguire. And the Rams remain keen to sign Northampton Town's right-sided midfielder Michael Jacobs. "He continues to be a player we have a great deal of interest in," said Glick. "He's a player of some potential, in what is a priority position for us."
