Watch that second goal again. Absolutely no blame whatsoever can be attached to Cashin for that goal, he was on his backside as he made an outstanding block, his mates then stood still and didn’t put the challenge in, Hourihane Bird and there was another I can’t remember who, they were the ones to blame.

I thought Cashin was decent throughout but am obviously in a minority! He also stopped Diamond with a great tackle after he waltzed past a few defenders, and his passing was a lot better than everyone else's too

Well done to those 19 raters amongst you who managed to hold back the vitriol and provide ratings for the players on what was our 5,000th League Match, some 134 years and 5 days after the first ever one. Pretty forgettable though wasn't it.

Summary

NML picked up MotM with an average score of 5.7. Technically 6.0 is deemed an average score, so he was the outstanding player of the night by putting in a below-average shift! A reflection of the collective team performance on the night. Next best was Wildsmith with 5.5 followed by Roberts.

Unsurprisingly, this set of ratings was the lowest for the season thus far; average team rating was 63.0 with a smaller than average range of 22. Tony Hatch award went to Steve Buckley's Dog who growled whilst scoring the team a combined 48. Significantly perhaps, lowest average ratings went to our midfield "engine" of Bird and Hourihane; if you're midfield doesn't shift through the gears, the car generally doesn't go very well. Anyway, it's not a blame game and the whole team takes responsibility for what is thus far the worst result of the season. Fine lines though - we did have 2 "goals" chalked off, and we were guilty of at least 2 woeful misses. That's football. As the great Peter Cook remarked "Football - she's your wife, she's your mistress, she's your sister!".

Wycombe ratings will be out soon, before Warney's regime gets under way at Abbey Stadium, Cambridge.  Can't wait.
