Man City are ruthlessly picking Burnley apart on the break.

Burnley are an excellent defensive, compact unit but when they’re forced to attack they look incoherent and unimaginative. That’s why I’d imagine Dyche would struggle at a bigger club when the onus is on them to attack.

Reminds me of Moyes at Everton.

Absolutely no way of knowing. If he was at a big club he wouldn't have players of the quality of Ashley Barnes and Sam Vokes in the attacking positions.

But a manager’s philosophy doesn’t change on a club-by-club basis.

Dyche’s team play the way they do because it’s what he knows, what he is comfortable coaching.

A big team wouldn’t ever hire him because there is no proof he can get teams playing attacking football.

Howe, on the other hand, may have better luck. Like Joe said earlier, Dyche is in the Moyes mould.

Some managers excel at specific jobs.

Don't agree.

Dyche sets up his team the way he does because he knows that if they went out and attacked teams that have spent hundreds of millions they would get torn to pieces.

Do you really think if he was in charge of Man City he would set up defensively?

2-1 to the Black and Amber Boys now.

(I lived in Newport as a kid and used to watch them, so have a soft spot for them).

Also, Dirties now down to 10 men.

Well he wouldn’t set them up like Guardiola does, that’s for sure.

You can play attacking football in the Premier League. You don’t have to play Burnley’s way.

Rodgers and Laudrup did it at Swansea, Howe does it at Bournemouth.

You look at someone like Jokanovic at Fulham. If they go up, they wouldn’t suddenly play a different style.

It’s worth remembering Dyche took over Eddie Howe at Burnley. Howe had already looked to bring footballers in there, it was Dyche who then resorted back to their current style.

Burnley play the same way whether they’re playing Man City away or West Brom at home. They don’t do attacking football, because their manager isn’t comfortable with it, IMO.

Why is it for sure?

You've mentioned Rodgers, Laudrup and Howe, what is the highest placed finish any of them have had?

It's ok playing easy on the eye football but finishing mid table every year will not enable these teams to progress.

If Burnley could get in Europe it would be the second biggest achievement in Premier League history.

Dyche is clever enough to realise that he doesn't have the players to achieve that playing easy on the eye football.

Do you think Guardiola would get Burnley top of the league using his brand of football?

Laudrup already took Swansea into Europe, via winning the League Cup. Martinez took Wigan into Europe via winning the FA Cup.

Why would Burnley finishing 7th be the 2nd biggest achievement in PL history?

Actually playing with the ball, looking to attack teams and utilizing movement off the ball improves players.

There is nothing easier in football than just sticking 11 men behind the ball and punting it long, playing off scraps and 2nd balls.

Dyche bought players to play his way. It’s working for him and Burnley, so there is nothing to criticise.

But lets not pretend it wasn’t his choice to play this way. He does it because it’s what he knows. He would be lost at a club who look to actually play attacking football and win trophies.
