Mihangel
Looks like an interesting approach to encouraging the team:- “We worked on turning the opposition and penetrating them in behind. Kevin Phillips was great with that on the field and in the video room" Read more at http://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/mcclaren-seeing-progress-in-derbys-attacking-work-3392567.aspx#bu0c5WqAV9iBTPQZ.

archram
So what was Kevin Phillips doing before Mac arrived? Also been said that Chris Powell worked all week with Christie. If so, why hadn't he done this before? Are coaches only allowed to coach who and what the manager says?

KP, I can only presume, was coaching for play. As for Christie, I guess it's a case of Mac thinking, he is the right back I've got, let's make sure he's going to alright, Powell, I want you to focus on Christie this week, he's important. RamsPolls
To be fair this article is a great way to get the teams overall morale up. Like playing mind games with them. It does bring the questions as to why Powell hasn't worked with the Full Backs before last week but hey ho. Up the rams.
MackworthRamIsGod
So, reading between the lines: Chris Powell spoke to Christie and said, play well against Wednesay or I'm gonna turn you over and penetrate you? It seemed to work.

Coneheadjohn
First two posts made me wee a little bit(non age related wee)! I bet Tom Lee's has never been penetrated so much.
DavesaRam
In the end it is simply Steve's coaching philosophy coming through. Chris Powell didn't do the work on Christie before because NP didn't think of it, or it wasn't part of his philosophy. Thankfully it is part of how Stevie does it!
