Keep Russell can't help but love him

sell Blackman, bent, weimann, shotton, Pearce

I was in your gang with Russell but he has under performed too many times now and doesn't have the footballing brain you need at this level. You have to make quick decisions when you're under pressure and he just doesn't have that ability. I think that if we play Blackman in a freer role upfront we will see goals from him. Like many of the players we have signed in the past two seasons I suspect he's a bit of a glory boy and doesn't strike me as a grafter when times are hard but we have to feed egos like that, not starve them by playing the guy out of position. We either play Martin with appropriate midfield support or not at all.

Rather than targeting certain players to leave, clement needs to decide on the type of football he wants to play, decide on a plan A formation and then keep/buy the players for that system. I cant help but feel that our current recruitment plan involves panicking, finding the best player we can irrespective of style of play or strengths and weaknesses and then paying whatever the other team wants for them.

We need a strategy... A clear vision of type of football we want to play, then recruit and sell based on that!

We could our playing approach  "The Derby Style"....no, wait......"The Derby Way"!    Yes, that's it.

A lot of people are selling players just brought to the club on 3 year contracts.Step back think cause and effect.

TOO many poor signings ,sorry not the answer because Mel has spent millions buying the club from the yanks .

So he can bring in his own players,at inflated prices and wages, with his own recruitment team ,

To sell these players is to admit to mistakes being made,by the international recruiting system set up by Sam Rush

This will mean they don't have a clue, and the yanks knew it was time to bail out,

This is Mel time and is name will be remembered in Derbys history, and the fans will know he had a go

Like I said, two weeks and written off - some nailed your colours firmly to the mast a long time ago, along with Jill Gallone.

  • 3 weeks later...

Its going to be a lot easier to shift the old guard than the new as their wages/contracts will be easier to sell on. Maybe it's about time the likes of Hendrick, Russell, Martin, Keogh moved on and bettered themselves?

What will most likely happen is we will ship off about 11 players that no one will miss. Probably Bent, Sammon (finally out of contract), Albentosa, Shotton, Weimann, Blackman, Camara, Johnson, Baird, Roos and Pearce,

We will probably end up with about £8m and obviously a significantly reduced wage bill. Warnock will also probably go too.

I am sorry but that's not easy enough. Still too many hassles.

What's the easiest, then? Sell it back to GSE and call it a day.

Sayounara in Japanese. Reincarnation in Hindu.

If we sell  at a loss, which we'd have to with Blackman, Johnson, Camara and Weimann, the amortisation payments have to be taken from the figure that we get in. There is a good chance that we'd actually end up with a book profit (which is what FFP uses) something close to zero, maybe even a small loss. Sadly, if we want to generate profit it will have to cone from Hughes, Martin or Hendrick.

Wouldn't be too upset if we sold martin or hendrick. We have to keep hughes and thorne though.

Starting to believe this group of players might have had their day. It's been fun whilst it latest, but they have failed in the last 2 years to get promoted and hopefully not this year, but looking more likely.

very reminiscent of 93-94 season, local owner pumped in millions for underachieving squad, new manager arrives sells prima donnas and gets promoted on remains and few cheap signings (Jim smiths first season for the young ones).

Id probaly look at getting rid of

grant (don't need two number 1s)

keogh (although he's better this year)

warnock (getting old)

albentosa, shotton, Pearce

baird

One of Hendrick or Bryson (can't keep all the midfielders happy) and possibly Johnson to cut out losses.

ince (he's not a team player and you need them to get out of this league)

bent (drain on wages)

Russell (should we be expecting more than workman like performance from an attacking player - like goals)

and potenially Martin.

Oh and sammon

alot of players are still suffering hangovers from previous promotion failures. So fresh start fresh all is best.

As mentioned you can't get rid of all this years signings due to deppreciation values being taken into account on FFP, so I've been conservative on my sales.
