deano180
In general I feel more comfortable with Carson instead of Grant, I'm just bemused by Carson's inability to distribute the ball by hand? There was many times today when Russell and Ince and the full backs got in good positions immediately when Carson gathered the ball, he looks to distribute by hand jockeying along and then kicks?I'm guessing this must be a weak part of his game, i have witnessed this over the 5 league fixtures, its frustrating because I believe hand distribution assists our style of play rather than long punts, and also helps with the game tempo, something that Grant was very strong at. DarkFruitsRam7
His kicking is very accurate, especially to Fozzy, and there was one throw out to Russell on the left which was brilliant, but other than that he probably should consider rolling it out a bit more. RamNut
So far he seems to be a much more reliable keeper, particularly on crosses.
Tombo
He's a good kicker but we can create so much more with hand distribution. Something for him to work at. A minor thing for me though.
Carl Sagan
Carson's been a colossus compared to the Grant that ended last season and started this. And I thought he dominated his area well today and was a reassuring presence. I remember one quick, excellent and long throw out to the left wing in the second half to get us moving. But this is one area where TV never gives you the full picture and you have to be at the game to appreciate the opportunities, so if you were there and were getting frustrated then it's maybe something he needs to do more. Van der MoodHoover
The fact that we are not talking about keeper issues is the clearest sign that Carson is doing well.On other threads there is plenty of stick being ladled out on our recruitment. So perhaps credit is due on this one which was not a position we were clamouring to have filled . r_wilcockson
I would even go as far to say as Carson has been our player of the season so far. A steady presence at the back in every game and can't be faulted for any of the goals.
North_Stand_Ram
I don't think he's the sort of keeper to pull off wonder saves, but I can't see him making mistakes either. Steady. His kicking is excellent also.
WorksopRam
I thought his kicking was superb today. Right at it a good few times. I only saw him mis-kick one.
JABBA
His kicking has been spot on the first few games.it was a tad frustrating he kept going long today with Sol Bamba winning almost everything but when we have just the one up top what can you do. I Am Sheep
I do think Carson could throw more often but at least his kicking is excellent. I do think he's a safer pair of hands though and despite Grant doing well for us in the past, I'm happy keeping Carson as number 1.
Cam
It's strange that I think his kicking is worst part of his game and everyone else thinks it's good. He seems very fond of the hoof up the pitch after a corner looking for Ince or Russell which he nearly always over hits and gives possession to the opposite team, and he goal kicks (unless they go towards Forsyth which admittedly tend to be accurate) seem to be a bit hap hazard. FrostedRam
I'm with you cam. Feel more assured with him in goal. But feel his kicking is weak on occasions.Gaurantee during a game he will hoof it up and it goes straight through to the keeper. Message to Carson, just kick it a little less hard sometimes
The_Sheriff
I feel Carson has seemed steady and hasn't been at fault for any goals but i think Grant can pull off world class saves, I can't remember Carson making a fantastic save yet. If Grant can cut out the errors then he is a better keeper then Carson IMO
RIMBAUD
he made a good on v birmingham iirc He looks good to me. Good with claiming crosses.
RicME85
I would rather a keeper who is consistent and does the basics than one who pulls of the odd worldly save but is dodgy as hell.I think his kicking is excellent, its actually let down by our forwards not fighting enough for the ball. Martin was poor yesterday when the ball was kicked up to him and not just by Carson, just didnt seem to have the fight or desire.
