what a shambles!

Recommended Posts

Journalists, moreover, who have taken a couple of speculative comments on Twitter and turned them into a stories for their papers.

Apparently, there are some people who believe every word.

Can't remember what the word for those people is. Begins with 'I', I think.

'Credulous', no, that begins with a c. 'Gullible', no that's g.

mm, this is a bit of a toughy.

I'll settle on 'Flies' at the moment.

Why?

Derby have maintained a dignified silence - all the speculation is from journalists and their hangers-on.

Okay, I'm glad that you are not a journalist because there would be nothing in the newspapers apart from your Marxist socialist tripe and conformity.

The way it works is usually like this.

Meeting over a coffee between reporter and agent:

Telegraph reporter: "So is Steve leaving?"

Agent: "He is, we just had a meeting and trying to iron out the details, but don't quote me on that."

Reporter: "Sure, thanks for the information."

Reporter calls the club inside source

Telegraph reporter: "So is Steve leaving?"

Insider: "Yes he is and we will be getting PC in, but I can't disclose anymore details or a time frame at the moment until a statement is issued by the club, but it is happening."

Reporter: "Thanks, I'll have you as an anonymous source as ever."

Not a shambles but just takes time

Steve McClaren: His reign at Derby could be close to an end
Steve McClaren is set to leave his post as Derby manager later on Friday, Sky sources understand.

McClaren and his agent met with the club's chief executive Sam Rush and director Mel Morris on Thursday night, but no agreement was reached
Derby are unhappy with McClaren's refusal to publicly rule himself out of taking over at Newcastle after the Premier League club made an approach for him in January and again last month.

It is understood Morris, a Derby businessman, will soon hold a majority share in the Rams and become club chairman.

Morris blames McClaren and the Newcastle speculation for Derby's poor finish to the season, which saw them go from top of the Sky Bet Championship in March, to missing out on the play-offs altogether when they were beaten 3-0 at home by Reading on the final day of the season.

Further discussions between Derby and McClaren's representatives will take place on Friday, to try to agree a departure deal. McClaren still has two years left on his contract.

Derby fans are so infuriating, they don't even realise that this whole "circus" was mainly stirred by fans and like 2 journalists. Last night one journalist, one, said "I understand Mac has gone", The club said nothing! The fans instead of waiting for complete confirmation, all start tweeting that he had definitely gone and social media was rife with people saying he had gone without even checking to confirm.

And now fans have the audacity to blame this "circus" on the club? The club has done absolutely nothing wrong in this whole thing, they kept the meeting quiet until journalists were fishing around, they met with Mac, didn't just give him everything he wanted, they have taken their time and they are doing it properly. Obviously Morris and Rush feel that Macs flirting with Newcastle did cost us promotion and they probably feel with the players Mac can't win their trust back. I have always backed Mac and I always will if he's in charge, but probably in a rare case unlike most other clubs and unlike most other boards we have had for once I actually trust this board more than the manager. I trust that Sam Rush and now Mel Morris know exactly what they are doing with our club and I know they want to make sure we get promoted.

So I really hope this weird sense of anger that some of the fans and sense of ungratefulness over the past like 4 months goes as soon as Mac does, we get behind whoever takes over and we start supporting our club properly again. Because If I ever see a Derby fan try to claim we have the "best fans in the world" at least not for a long time, i'll go mental because our fans have been embarrassing.

I'm not a journalist because

a) I'm not a liar

b) I am exceedingly good at what I do already

I have the utmost respect for one journalist and one journalist only - David Conn of The Guardian

My politics have no bearing on this issue, but I will state here and now that anybody who sincerely believes that I am a Marxist is lacking a little in the basic understanding of politics and the concept of what democracy is. I'll just put it down to the fact that you are trying (unsuccessfully) to get a rise. A good cast, but your presentation and choice of fly failed to fool this wily old trout.

What you have described is one possible scenario.

Another is...

1. Journalist wipes backside

2. Journalist sniffs product of wipe

3. Journalist writes story.

You are naive and foolish to believe this:

How so?

The only two journalists to report anything, were Nixon and Percy. The club never announced anything about a meeting, they didn't go to the press. I'd be extremely surprised if Nixon or Percy were approached by anything over than "insiders", sources who were telling them stuff they shouldn't have been.

The fact that DET and Radio Derby knew absolutely nothing showed that the club were trying to do it behind the scenes and probably didn't want to announce anything till it was all done.

Just as an FYI by this whole "circus" i do just mean the whole Mac was sacked, then he wasn't thing. I don't mean that the whole last 4 months were just all the fans doing.

he's 100% spot on accurate, If it was actually possible to be 110% or 120% spot on, he would be.

I put an article together in January about fans hounding McClaren out, and it's virtually come true.

Fact is, if McClaren said no to Newcastle or if McClaren didn't even speak to Newcastle, he didn't leave ffs!

The fans should have spent their energy getting behind the team and supporting us to glory, but instead focussed on what "might" happen after the season has ended, What was the point in that? What purpose did it serve? what were those fans trying to achieve with their "he's definitely off to Newcastle!" stance?

All said and done, the good feeling was wiped out when it needn't have been. Although they failed in the end, Brentford fans still managed to stay in the then 'present' regardless of who would be future manager.

Derby fans should've stayed in the then 'present' and kept the feelgood factor going.

No, I suggested that the party you professed to support had members who were fascists.

I don't think you lot have any experience working for a corporate, or in public relations and/or journalism.

If they weren't true and journalists were writing the stories then that's liable. ITS AGAINST THEN LAW. The journalist would have been sued.

If they weren't true then Derby would have just laughed them off and came out with clear statement.

To be naive and think that online message boards influence real life decisions like this then you might as well live your life on a message board.

You are giving too much importance to the average Joe online who really has no say in what goes on. But don't tell him that, he will realise that his life is worthless.
