I agree on Dawkins and would have gone with him from the word go once Martin was injured. Only player who can hold the ball up with his back to goal and has speed to play on the defenders shoulder when facing the other way. Mac was aware we needed cover at centre forward in the summer and that's why he bid for Lucas Jutkiewicz. Hope it don't cost us not getting someone in back then.

Hanson didn't do that well. If Mascarell had played like that we wouldn't even mention him. He was just alright. It's just because it was his debut and he's from our academy and it was against Norwich that he's been singled out for analysis.

Russell looked alright v Brum and Brighton. If Thomas was ready he'd have had more match time or shown something in the time he has had.

If we play like we did v Norwich then even more so I'd rather have Russell. Because it was all percentage punts down the line hoping to win something in their half. That requires forwards with energy, pace and work rate to pressure the ball.  None beat Russell at that.

I'd be tempted to put Ward as a CF and Russell back to wing. If we are going to play like we did against Norwich, he could be better option. Quite similar but bit nastier and despite lack of height, he really is good header. Not sure is he better than Martin but surely was better than Sammon when we played with those two upfront.

Then you have a few players out of position instead of just 1.

The defensive shape changes. The zones you work within changes. you lose the sort of telepathy you develop. Everyone knows where and what everyone should be and should be doing. Having a look around becomes pretty much a conformation rather than an actual look.

We've just got to ride it imo.

No team can lose 2 strikers and their first, second AND third choice defensive midfielder and have an answer. It's too much. Just got to put up with it.
