Jeremy Clarkson suspended by BBC

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended by the BBC "following a fracas" with a producer.

The corporation said the 54-year-old presenter had been suspended "pending an investigation".

"No one else has been suspended. Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday," it said.

Clarkson was given what he called his "final warning" last May after claims he used a racist word while filming the popular BBC motoring show.

At the time, he said the BBC had told him he would be sacked if he made "one more offensive remark, anywhere, at any time".

The BBC gave no further details on the current incident involving Clarkson, and said it would not be making any further comment at this time.

This weekend's episode of Top Gear was set to feature Clarkson - who has fronted the show since 2002 - along with regular co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May at a classic track day.

Former footballer and pundit Gary Lineker was also to appear as the "star in a reasonably priced car".

Clarkson has courted controversy on several occasions during his time hosting Top Gear.

The show's executive producer, Andy Wilman, described last year as "an annus horribilis" for the programme.

I used to like Top Gear. Stopped watching it now. It's just exactly the same thing every week.

The only thing that changed was the fact they started getting more and more offensive. It's one thing if you're doing it for comedic effect, but to me it just felt like aging men trying to stay young through shock value.

Think this is a good thing.

5th Gear has always been better but even they have ended up with silly presenters and Vicky went all posh.

I wanna see a show where lads have built cars in their sheds that can out run and out turn super cars. Budget racing, modified cars, inside factories etc. not them three pissing about.

I like top gear to. So f*ck you all :) . I hope I have as much fun as clarkson and co when I'm middle aged  as a travel agent, if absolutely love to organise tours to recreate some of their best road trips.

(Am I allowed to insult everyone on the thread if I follow it with a smiley?)

Think this is a case of a presenter getting too powerful. Top gear doesn't work without clarkson, and top gear makes the BBC more money than any other show as it is sold world wide. So clarkson probably thinks he can do and say what he wants, which is mostly true. But the producer wants to make sure he's put in his place and realises he's not indispensable. Not sure if that'll work though. Clarkson will probably just take the piss. itv or sky would snap up top gear in a heartbeat.

Didnt used to mind it, but it's just gotten ridiculously staged and scripted.

Same old jokes, which were midly funny the first time, now been done a million times.

Clarksons a c*nt, Hammonds a c*nt, May is bearable.

It's all such fake fun though, nothing's done on a whim or spontaneously like they try to make out it is.

It reminds me of how I used to like WWE/WWF when I was a kid, now I just think, how did I believe that bullsh*t.

And dont get me started on those c*nts that are in the studio, stood there laughing to Clarksons pathetic jokes that a 5 year old probably scripted. Man, I hate them f*ckers.

But whatever, each to their own, I watch Eastenders, I'm equally c*ntish.
