Are Two Attacking Full-backs A Problem?

With Wisdom and Forsyth we had a good balance between attack and defence, with a Christie we have a fullback that is more attacking minded, will this cause problems with our defence or is the best defence attack?

Good job you raised it. Bet Mac, Simmo and Eric have not even thought about it.....

Presumably, he'll be playing according to instructions from McClaren and the rest.

Presumably, they believe he is capable of doing what they ask, otherwise they wouldn't have signed him.

Do I presume too much?

Could play a similar system to Argentina that whenever the full backs are attacking the defensive midfielder drops into the defence to form a temporary line of 3 incase they lose the ball, then it's up to them to bust a gut to get back and help out!

It's unusual to be attacking from deep down both flanks at the same time particularly as we're allowed only one ball. Defensive Mid needs to be aware of where his team mates are at times (more so than any other player) and respond accordingly. Plus Central Defenders especially the captain should be holding the non attacking full back in defence if danger is likely.

That would work with a player like Tejeda, so as to cut out a counter attack while the full-backs return to position. However, if we sign Thorne it might not work as effectively due to him being so pivotal to a lot of our attacking moves.

The only possible solution is for the full-backs to be disciplined so when one bombs forward, the other tracks back and maintains his defensive duties.

That system works because Zabaleta is a different class of full-back.
