Do think this is the best deal Derby have ever done, a free under 12s season ticket with every full paying adult season ticket ( obviously Junior Rams or whatever it is membership required ) but it starts them young..... As the song goes...... WHEN I WAS YOUNG

Yes, it's a fantastic idea.

It'll be worth every mile you travel Eddie and every penny of the petrol money.  He'll probably sleep in the car on the Friday night and be dead excited going to the matches and going back afterwards as well. In 20 years time he will be on here answering questions about how and why he started watching the Rams and how much he loves his granddad for taking him.  The memories he (and you) will have will be priceless

Don't understand people who pay for the best views. On the few times I have been this year I have bought tickets in the cheapest areas, walked around to the middle top of the East Stand (Cat A now) and took one of the tens of empty seats. I've done it in the past with ST's, one year I only sat in my actual seat once when it was a sell-out. If football in general wasn't such a rip-off I might play a bit fairer.

Do you go on your own mate? I never buy a season ticket but do pay for a membership. When the lad was U18, his match ticket was free, so in essence cheaper than buying 2 season tickets and also giving us flexibility.

I'm guessing that's your grandson in the picture so probably too young to go at the moment but in a couple of years this might be an option.

Hi mate ,no I usually go with a mate catch the train ,have a few pints, its a day out ,we even did it as a labour of love when we was in the old Third division .Yes that's my Grandson and can't wait to take him ,his dad is a Man u fan but he will have more fun going to Derby with me than watching them on the box with his dad ,anyway he won't get the choice he's a Ram.

I have a few problems as to why I don't go as regular as I'd like.

1. I work alot of weekends, and to get to midday games I need to leave work an hour early.

2. I live in Lincoln which is about a 70 minute drive away.

3. My dad is a derby fan, but literally know no other derby fans from this area to car-pool with or even go with me (I've dragged a few football friends when I can, but hard to get them to fork over £20-30 for a team they don't support)

Been to 6 games this season at home, and 1 away. And 3/7 I've gone on my own. It's pretty sad, but I love it all the same.

It's called decency, integrity, honesty etc. If there's one thing in life not to blag, surely it's your football club.

I'm moving to Newark next month (on the way to Derby from Lincoln??) & am in a similar situation as you.

I'd probably be up for a car share if we're both going to the same match next season.

I applaud the WBA fans who are honest enough to want to go and watch their club at City and pay £56 for adults, £34 for the youngsters and £47 for the sick and disabled.

Perhaps it takes a few people to say what a rip off the prices (generally) are and make a stand before we can all enjoy watching our local clubs for a reasonable price. God forbid the Germans aren't far off. Clubs earn enough as it is, give them more and they spend more - thats not my problem, thats the greed in football, funded by hard-up fans.

I'm sure in those situations kids eventually are grateful for what you were trying to do.

I take your point, and we're all in agreement about commercialisation in football, but Derby don't rip people off to that extent.

We seem to have a few fans around Newark. I'm mates with 2 that come from there, They are father and son but take turns to drive over.

But there are a few more that make the trip for most home games.
