Queens Park Rangers have announced a new kit supply deal with Nike, which will see the US giant replace Lotto Sport Italia at the start of next season.

The second-tier English soccer outfit renewed their kit supply deal with Lotto in 2008, but it was confirmed on Monday that Nike will step in as Rangers’ technical partner from the 2014/15 season onwards. The agreement covers all playing and training wear, along with other club-branded apparel.

The financial terms of the agreement, which runs until May 2019, were not released. However, there is speculation in the UK’s tabloid press that the contract is worth as much as UK£45 million in total.

QPR’s chairman, Tony Fernandes, said: “We are delighted to be entering into this new and exciting partnership with Nike and look forward to working alongside their team over the next five years. Nike is the leading global sports brand and they are a fantastic brand for us to be associated with.”

Philip Beard, the club’s chief executive, added: “Nike’s unparalleled research and development capacity, leading global retail distribution networks and award winning marketing capabilities mean that this is a very important step forward in the evolution of the club. We are really looking forward to working together.”

QPR's hopes of wearing their new shirts in the Premier League took a huge blow last night, after being soundly beaten by Sheffield Wednesday 3-0. That result leaves them in fourth, ten points behind second placed Burnley, with the play-offs looking more than likely for Harry Redknapp's side.
