Changes at Derby

There are clearly some changes in strategy, direction being taken at the club and it seems these have been planned for a while.

The way McClaren was brought in almost immediately illustrated that a fair amount of pre planning had gone on (sign of a well run business!) and I find it hard to believe that he would have taken the job unless there was a reasonable budget available for imrpoving the team.

Yes he has done well with the team we have now, although he has brought in a couple of key players in Dawkins and Wisdom but reality suggests that very few of this team are of a quality required to get promotion.

The announcement soon to be made on naming rights for the stadium, suggests that income streams are being developed which will mean being able to comply with FFP as well as having a viable budget going forward.

In short

Better quality management team

Improved budget

A specialist recruitment guy

Improved income streams

I'd say GSE are actully going to ahve a real go at getting this club promoted, albeit that there will still be a policy of careful sbudgeting

I wouldn't consider the naming of the stadium Big news, and it's been quoted before that most the club would receive for the renaming would be a 6 figure sum. Hardly big news for a club this size.

I'm hoping for something bigger, and better.

For the record I love the name Pride Park. It's great, and the oldest memories I have of DCFC were made there, I wouldn't want to change it.

I got a text, NOT from someone I think is reliable, that ONE of the investor-owners has bought out the rest of them and binned GSE and going solo with his own board of directors.

If this were true, could that mean a rather large-ish transfer kitty?

Or he could run the club as is, wait til the Mac gets us up, and sell for a tidy profit all to himself?

If true ofcourse.

I would say its got to have something to do with the ownership/investment group. Makes strategic sense to have the new head coach/DoF already in place - this could have been the new owners/investors agenda all along. Who's to say its not a double, triple or quadruple whammy with Eranio, Sterling and stadium naming rights all thrown in. Now that would be a BIG announcement...
