Fulham boss Martin Jol wants to beat Arsenal to the signing of Derby whizkid Will Hughes in January, writes the Sunday People.

The highly-rated attacking midfielder has burst through the Rams ranks at just 17 and is already in England’s Under-21 plans.

People Sport revealed that Arsene Wenger tried to make Hughes a young Gunner in the summer. However Fulham want to step in and offer the kid first-team football.

Derby would probably be unable to turn down a bid of around £4milllion.

The Rams are also in danger of losing right-back John Brayford to Championship rivals Cardiff.

Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay made an inquiry after the clubs played last week. Brayford is also being watched by West Ham. - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/fulham-want-to-beat-arsenal-to-derby-1470596?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Would like to think we'd get more thhen £4 million for him, was hoping more for around the £6-8million, and as for Brayford, I'd want at £3 million.

Well isn't Derby a fantastic club support - seems like Rushes first job at Derby County is selling the player with most potential in the side, and the best player in our side.

I don't doubt both are for sale at the right price and teams will be interested but all these rumours do get a bit boring, especially when they're paired up with a weak rumour of some sort.

If we sold Hughes for 4million we would be a laughing stock.

You fail to mention he'll get almost ten times his wages at those clubs mentioned.

If I was a 17 year old on 2-3k a week and a club offers 20k i'd be nuts to cock my nose up at it.

Financially sorted at the age of 17 and training with some of the best players in the world? Or playing for a average Championship side who has little to no ambition? Tough decision guys.

I think hughes has his head screwed on, i dont think he will want to go just yet, his getting first team football and he wants to keep improving. I dont think he will go this season unless he is forced out.

I'm with gcdcfc28 on this one - His head screwed on would be making a move to a team with the best training facilities and coaching staff.

Probably correct, anyone with half a brain would go. Fortunately, the boy has a good full brain and is looking at what he wants to do now and in the future. Arsenal deffinateley??? I would say no particular team definitely.

Surely for the sake of argument people who say he would be better off here playing first team football would say Fulham who are offering first team football as well would be the best move - still playing with much better players, and probably a better coaching/training facility? Not to mention premier league first team football.

I'll be completely honest - I do not give 2 ***** about where Hughes goes as long as we get the most possible for him.

Unfortunatley, football ain't about whats best for his development, if he can get £15-20k a week at arsenal he would be stupid not to go.

Arsenal = Better club, better youth system, better coaching system. Yeah he should stop here for a few more years i mean oxlade-chaimberlin never gets a look in does he?. Nor that walcott lad, soon as he went there he was never seen again.

Not sure about fulham, not heard of many youngsters coming through there, but he would still be better off as they are miles better than us too.

What are we going to do with all that money ? Likes of Burton and Northampton must be thrilled when they hear we might be soon in position to make a Barker type fee. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Probably go someway to covering our losses in all honesty - we would see a little bit of the fee, but not anywhere near what most people will be thinking. Let's say he DOES go for 4million, we would probably re-invest 1million back into the team.
