Brayford replacement

Why? It could be any of about 30 players who won't get in the prem side but who have played in the champ.

My mate tweeted this earlier. Hmmm

@cabbage2222: @SNicholsonDT I see you started following @AdamSmith912 today. He's a Prem RB with Cham exp. Must be just coincidence lol

Whoever it is......its a loan.

Not as good as brayford permanently.

I understand the issue of premiership football, higher wages etc, but whatever happened to loyalty.

He's gone to a club who will be down again sooner rather than later.

Or are they just another stepping stone too.

He's got a four year deal and a bumper pay rise too, he's probably set up for life financially with this transfer.

Four years on premiership won't set you up for life

30k a week = 850k per year net (according to listen to taxman calculator)

Four years of that is £3.2m - which I'm sure there are several lottery winners to show that such an amount isnt enough for life.

It's more than I'll earn in my life youth.

If John were to live until he was 85 that would be over £50,000  year. That's before you even take in to consideration past wages, signing on fees and sponsorships (if he has any).

.....but

i assume his wages will drop if they get relegated

We were obviouly prepared to up his wages

If he got promoted with us then he would got another increase

If he stayed we all have had a better chance of promotion

What happened to players playing 300 or 400 games for a club

And getting themselves into legendery status

Do they all just fk off now for one season in the prem?

Cardiff will almost certainly be paying him more even with a relegation decrease than he would ever get with us even in the Prem. That's the sad truth about it all though. If they've paid of the order of £2 mil with a year left on his contract, then they're putting a huge amount into him.

I think we know the answer to that, but sometimes players do go back to where they played previously later on in their career with enough left in the tank to become that 300/400 game player with legendary status.

You don't even need that many - if you look at Dean Windass' career... you could describe him as a bit of a journeyman yet he's a 'legend' at both Hull and Bradford - 299 appearances for Hull, 243 for Bradford.

Plus if they stay up clubs usually improve contracts if his wise with it then all is good, but, we live a world where a footballer thinks it's a good idea to have "Ranger" tattooed on his forehead so what do I know
