kevinhectoring got a reaction from Miggins in Bristol Rovers (A) Sat 15th April
Sibley played some nice attacking football at LWB (esp linking w Barks) tho’ defensively he was less strong. But his most effective game was against Oxford and given the difficulty we have scoring why don’t we give him a run higher up the pitch ?

Barkhuizen’s fitness is actually pretty good and he’s been underused imo. NML has been overused, and sometimes against teams who can contain him. His fitness needed more careful handling by his manager

With the exception of the match against a poor Oxford side, Sibleys' most effective performances this season have been at LWB where his overlapping regularly created panic in the opposition right flank. If we are going to find a place for him in the starting eleven then for me that's the only position available - he can still provide an attacking threat from deep.

It’s a shame we haven’t got Chair. Perhaps he’ll end up at Chesterfield and not as a wingback

We are just one point outside the play off and Barnsley not likely to beat ipwhich town and that goes to peterboro as well.

A 0-1 win would have been excellent and he nearly made it. Nothing wrong away from home defending a lead especially if you’re finding it hard to score goals. Not sure he had the right players on to defend the lead though

Yeah. He needed to calm down before doing that interview. He’ll should be fined. But whingeing that ‘everyone is against us’ when we were rubbish is not impressive. But he’ll be aware that fans are roiling so he’s defending himself. Oh and being disrespectful of div 1 and other div 1 sides is not a good look - and surprising coming from him.
I think he decided to try to sit on a 1-0 lead. He’s been criticised for that on here but it almost succeeded and I don’t have a problem with it at all. What is a problem is that he seems to have no idea what he is realistically going to get out of his senior players - esp Hourihane and NML. This season was going to be all about getting the best out of the senior players through resting and rotation. He has plenty of other options - Bird, Sibley the most obvious - but instead we see the older guys run into the ground and we get overrun by more balanced squads.
The problem isn’t our league position, it’s that he can’t see how to get out of the rut we’re in

So let’s say Ipswich, Wendies and Plymouth go up. Still there’s Portsmouth, Barnsley, Bolton, Peterboro, Wycombe, 3 clubs coming down. Plus the chance that an unlikely club or two will find that magic combination of players and manager and blow the lights out. So I don’t buy what you say at all I’m afraid. Imo we’ve got as much chance of going up this season as getting automatic promotion next season under Warne

The overspending was propelled by the changing of managers though.
Less in the act of changing the manager in itself - although the costs associated with paying off contracts off shouldn't be ignored - rather the constant change in the type of manager appointed.
Valuable time (and points) lost while the new manager implements his methods on a squad not necessarily suited to playing the way he wants, necessitating money to be spent on getting players in (often on long contracts) to better fit his style, followed by that manager leaving (regardless of who's choice it was), followed bringing in someone who won't be able to hit the ground running because his methods don't mesh with the type of players you've just splurged money on (leading to them playing poorly, decreasing in value and it being harder to recoup your losses)... loop de loop.
However.
Warne won't be going anywhere anytime soon, even next season we're not going to have a great deal of money to spend and we'll probably still be restricted to offering 2 year contracts to players.
Regardless of concerns about some aspects of his management (which may yet improve / evolve) sticking with him until we're, at the very least, free of the business plan still makes sense IMO.

That's patently not true though, my complaint has been (and it has been evident) that he doesn't sit back and/or do anything, tactically, to defend the a lead but rather continues trading blows.
If he's changed things today to try to ensure some defensive solidarity that's a positive sign
...as long as it was a tactical change and not just throwing some more defensively minded players on willy nilly to kick / block / clear on an individual basis, but even that would. be more than he's tried previously so I can't really complain.

Just seen the penalty decision. Wouldn't say it was definitely a pen but can see why it was given. Should have been aware of the player that was going for the ball.

Threadbare yes, but if all he can offer is this disjointed stuff that he calls footie, that's no good enough for me. I have had it with the "small squad", "no money", "we are lucky to have a club narrative". If all he can offer what is currently played with tye likes of Hourihane, Barkz, Bird, Cash, Wildsmith, an on fire Didzy, NML, Knight, Smith... all players that have played higher up at a decent level, then I'm sorry it's just not good enough, threadbare squad or not.

Would like to see Warne change something now, before they score. Fozzy on, move Rooney forward, bird on, rest NML and Hourihane and bring on Dobbin and Sibley.
NML and Hourihane will get no better now and as they tire we’ll be vulnerable at the back.
