Agree - it’s far from clear who paid the May payroll. But what Nixon doesn’t recognise is that the funding probably involved a loan to q - ie a a high ranking claim in a liquidation (and MSD would most likely have supported the funding)
I think you’re unduly pessimistic in saying ck is/was paying too much - and I still think he might succeed. His offer (for the club only, with MM sharing some pain on the stadium and ?Clowes willing to share the risk/reward) is/was not crazy at all. MSD may well have agreed with him to write off some interest and I’d guess Q’s fee (under the ck deal) is set in stone despite the ongoing ‘work’. It’s all about potential and rightly or wrongly it seems ck’s assessment is that Rooney, Stretford and Cook can turn the football ship round. Valuing football clubs is an art not a science
Agree though that Ashley won’t match the ck deal. But that’s not because ck’s deal was foolish. It’s because Ashley only buys in the bargain basement

There’s talk Ashley has been in contact with EFL. If so I’d think he’s also talking to MM about the stadium. He trades businesses and after his Newcastle experience he might be happy to see us as a long term play. So if he pitches a bid at a level that keeps us in div 1 on -15, that might just work fine for him.
Personally I think that if he buys us, next season will be a nightmare

I think I’ve been hacked. I didn’t write the post you are responding to.

Again, it's not 100% clear what the stadium situation is if CKs deal doesn't go through as I think the stadium deal depended on CKs deal (and CKs deal sepended on the stadium deal). If someone had simply bought PP we'd have heard by now "XX has completed the purchase of Pride Park Stadium, with an agreement in place to lease the ground to the new ownership of DCFC"

Not sure that ck was under any deadline to complete before q set the Friday 5pm deadline (Tho maybe there was a drop dead date in the spa ?) But the point of my earlier post was : until ck’s deadline was passed q was not in a position to speak to other bidders because ck was pb. So for them all to complain that q was not speaking to them was daft

I think so. But the deal was basically done.

But wouldn’t the ground sale have been conditional on the CK deal going through ?

No other bidder should have expected a response from Q before the CK deadline expired.

The athletic article posted above is interesting. It suggests slync.io is late in payment of its sports sponsorship liabilities. CK’s personal affairs are of course a separate issue but it does suggest he might have gone out on a limb when committing Slync.io to so much sponsorship.
I made the point a while ago that despite professing to be a full time CEO of a fast growing company, he spends a lot of company time in jet-setting pursuit of his hobbies. Maybe it’s all fine, maybe his investors still support him and this latest issue is just a glitch. Hope so

Have they ever given the slightest indication that they can operate at that level of competence?

an important part of their job is to nail this down: before appointing a pb they have to ensure deliverability. Not least because the appointment will result in other bidding groups moving on to pastures new.
