Yes Barks and Ward were sorely missed when they went off. But very sensible to protect them (even in such a big game).

If we’d started w Smith not Hourihane, the Gayle sub would have been like-for-like.

What Warne in fact did (bringing on Smith, moving Adams forward) was a good move imo.  We were beginning to be overrun in mf and the changes gave us more strength in the middle as well as insight into Adams’ flexibility

Maybe the  lesson is that we should start Hourihane only against weaker opposition - or, if we start him we should have Adams and Smith on the pitch as well. If luck’s not with us we’re in danger of being 2 down at HT otherwise.

so when Bradley’s fit, is he on the bench or is Fozzie? Given his performance today, I’d stick w Fozzie.

Nice moment at full time with him and Warne embracing after some rumours of a rift earlier in the season.
He’s just speaking on radio Derby now, praises his defence and talking about how his training and prep play their part in him making top saves like he did earlier. Hope we can extend his contract as I think he’d do a job for us next season

Fozzy,  Smith, Adams, Nelson, NML, Cashin all immense. Not pretty but a massive result

Well done. Thought we deserved more but that's football.
See how it goes from here on in, but glad I don't have to watch that every week TBH.
    We'll live 🙂

Tommo a little off the pace. Our subs haven’t worked so well.

Is it too early to sub Hourihane?

Yep, since Bird has been out I’ve been concerned about having Hourihane and Adams alone in there. To be fair they’ve done well, but this is Hourihane’s 3rd game in a week so we need to be alert to any problems in the midfield, maybe NML and Barks will have to drop a bit further into that midfield.

Hypocritical comments after your home game against us with the same ref.

I’d rather Cashin in the middle personally as I think he reads the game better than anyone else. Forsyth also more comfortable defending 1v1 which is where Cash struggles from time to time.

By worried, I meant what was going through Gayle's mind was more likely to "woah...I'm about to get clattered, oh the ball has hit my hand" rather than "I'll just tip it past the on rushing keeper and let him knock me oved."
If the ref thinks he deliberately handballed it, not a pen. If the ref doesn't think he deliberately handballed it, it's a pen.
I'm sure VAR would have cancelled the pen out regardless, because the handball law, combined with VAR, is a farce.

Please no. imo that would be a grave error for so many reasons   We’re playing well in the current system, it suits the squad and we’re benefitting from players feeling comfortable in a system that’s working.  A straight swap, Forsyth for Bradley, would be better if he’s determined to use Foz. But even that would be a mistake at this stage.

Don't change a winning team. If there was ever a time for some consistency, this was it.

Too far ahead? Pompey play Posh this weekend, there’s a world where on Saturday night we are 2 points behind them with still needing to play them.

"Assume" is doing allot of work there. The debrief is put together immediately after the game. Owen and Barks give their immediate opinions after watching the same live action and replays that they show in that programme, unless they have other footage and analysis that they neither show to the audience or refer to. There's no further analysis or footage shown after the publishing of the debrief on the OS. They're such controversial incidents, why isn't there more conclusive evidence published if it exists and they've been able to base their opinions on it?
People were convinced Chris Martin dived until someone showed conclusive evidence that he didn't. Maybe Conor Hourihane deserves the same clarification?

Yeah maybe, however he made the same hand gesture for VAR that they do in the Premier League.
Just made me laugh, what an idiot! Bet he got some hammer on the team bus on the way home last night 😱😂😂
