Chris_Martin got a reaction from tinman in Paul Warne
the point i was trying to make is that the promotion race is easier than last year
Ipswich, Sheff Wed and Plymouth were both great last season, barely dropping any points. Ipswich are one point off top of the championship
Reading have come down with a points deduction, and have been forced to sell players and can't afford to buy. Blackpool have really struggled this season. Wigan have also struggled at times and had to sell players. They also have had a points deduction this season.
Barnsley, Bolton, Peterborough are all kind of where they were last season. Which really just leaves Portsmouth who have improved in comparison to last season
So overall, it is clearly easier to get near top of the league this season

Didn't mean anything by it, just simply asking your opinion on the league.
my opinion is warne is achieving the minimum requirement/expectation with this squad of players in terms of league position.
Regardless of that, would you not agree the league is easier compared to last season?

I don't think that's a fair comparison. You're equating teams who finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd last season to teams who are currently 8th, 10th and 14th. I agree that the promoted L2 teams are better but its a minor thing in comparison isn't it?
I'm not trying to "turn" anything. My argument is basically, who would you rather have in the league - Ipswich, Plymouth and Sheff Wed, or Blackpool, Wigan and Reading (with their points deductions). Isn't it an obvious answer.

Its more competitive overall. Meaning its not easier on average for all 24 teams. If you look at the top 6 in isolation I don't think it is more competitive because there's two less competitors in there compared to last season. When I say its 'easier' I mean its easier specifically in terms of Derby getting promoted.

I don't know how conclude anything other than the league being easier this season. Its the same teams competing at the top except you swap out Ipswich, Sheff Wed and Plymouth for Portsmouth. There's two less teams to compete against. The state of the three relegated Championship teams is a rare advantage. This doesn't mean Derby haven't improved since last season. They definitely have. The overall competitiveness of the league doesn't correlate to the quality of the teams in the league.

Chris_Martin reacted to DCFC Kicks in If All Fit & In Form, Whats Our Best XI ?
Well if that's the case, Lawrence's 1 good game every 5 is still better than Ibe when he was here 6 years ago. He only scored 5 goals, don't get why everyone thinks he was amazing.

Chris_Martin reacted to DCFC Kicks in Realistically ,New transfers in January????
In order of priority I think these are the transfers we need.
1) Centre Back - If either Clarke or Wisdom get injured we're in trouble, also Wisdom's mistakes have cost us a lot recently.
2) Striker - As much as CKR has exceeded expectations, he does lack movement and seems to fade a lot towards the end of games.
3) CM/CAM - Shinnie and Knight have been good but they're not naturally attacking enough. Quite a few big chances have fallen to Shinnie recently and he hasn't scored. We need someone whose more of a goal threat with the vision to play through-balls and link up play to the forwards.
4) Winger - A lot of our attacking play has been very one sided down which ever side Jozwiak is playing.
Possible loan players who aren't getting games:
Hector - Fulham - CB
Hourihane - Villa - CM
Johansen - Fulham -CM
Gilmour - Chelsea - CM (unlikely but Frank owes us)
Gordon - Everton - CAM/Winger

Echo's of Mac 2
I do wonder if Frank had been sacked a few weeks ago if we'd had gone for him instead of hiring Rooney.

Chris_Martin reacted to DCFC Kicks in Derby County versus Northampton Town (H) Match Thread
The only negative is seeing Bird play like this and knowing he'll be leaving in January for next to nothing.

Have a look through the topic if you don't believe me. I was dogpiled for merely highlighting the obvious caveat that Bolton had two games in hand.

No, Port Vale are the worst team we've played all season. Good win today, Warne at his best. I still stand by my criticisms.
